Pros: Safe, comfortable, roomy, and attractive. Cons: Terribly unreliable, too many high repair costs, and poorly built. The Bottom Line: Don't be deceived by this cars attractive looks and desirable driving character. It's unreliable from A-Z.
For a few months, during the Fall of 2005, I owned and drove a Ford Taurus sedan. I really had a love/hate relationship with the car, which I will explain in more detail later in my review. It was inexpensively priced, had a good safety record, was ...

Pros: Comfortable, many nice features. Cons: Transmission went out at 79,000 miles. Head gasket soon followed. Heater core went 99,000. The Bottom Line: Do not recommend this car as a primary vehicle, particularly with the 3.8 V6 engine and transmission drive train. My experience with this car made me purchase a new Saturn.
Update 3/30/04: The heater core went out on this car, which basically was the last straw. We sold it as-is, last October. It had 99,000 miles on it. This is our forth Taurus, our second wagon. Our first two Taurus's were an 86 GL Sedan and 87 GL ...

Pros: Smooth Riding Vehicle! Lots of room. Cons: None Found! The Bottom Line: If I could find another one in this condition, I would snap it up in a heartbeat!
Purchased this car early this year to use as a second/spare car. It had been a one owner and still had all the original paper work and any repair work-slips included. I knew the people we bought it from and knew how the miles had been put on the car....

Pros: Handling, Fuel economy Cons: Transmission, Plastic radiators, The Bottom Line: I would recommend this wagon if you could find one that is reasonably priced and in very good condition.
I bought my 1991 Ford Taurus L Wagon from a local used car lot in really good condition. It said 71,XXX on the five digit odometer so there was no telling how many miles was on it. I needed to have a car, and I always admired the Ford Taurus Wagons. I...

Pros: Very dependable and oh, so comfortable to drive, even for a short person like me. Cons: Not much that I can think of The Bottom Line: Due to horror stories from others I would be leary of purchasing this car again, even though I had only good times with it.
Wow. Out of curiosity I started reading the Taurus reviews. They only confirmed my suspicions. I think the Taurus tends to be a lot like a cocker spaniel. If you know cockers you will find they come in good and bad. It seems they have two very different...

Pros: roominess, appearance Cons: everything mechanical The Bottom Line: I would not recommend this car to anyone. I didn't want to listen myself and now I wish I would have.
I bought this car used from a dealer for $500. I thought that was an excellent price since the car was in perfect condition. I mean not a dent, scratch, spot on the interior, nothing! The guy said it needed a new head gasket so I thought with a...

Pros: nice looks, good get-up holds up well Cons: everyone has one.... hard to find in a parking lot 8-) The Bottom Line: this is a great little Car. I really love the Taurus!
Our Family car is a Ford Taurus Sedan 1991. We have driven a 1988 Taurus sedan, A Ford Tempo 1993, and an olds Delta 88 1983. The Taurus has got to be our favorite. I myself, like this one better. The Style and the way it handles is better. It has a V6...

Pros: roomy interior and spacious trunk Cons: transmission problems and paint problems The Bottom Line: don't recommend this car to anyone. It will fall apart on you!
I have a 1991 Ford Taurus. I liked it at first but then things started breaking down on me. My car stalls when driven too long in hot weather. It has stalled on me about 6 times last summer. The first thing that started going out was the transmission....

Pros: Great size and smooth ride. Cons: Not exactly what you would call a "hot car" The Bottom Line: Who knows, it could save your life.
I bought a 1991 Ford Taurus in 1995. I loved it for the amount of stuff (people, furniture, great for garage saleing) I could carry around. I must say this car was not exactly a chick magnet...but since I was in a long term relationship I didn't really...

I bought a 1991 Ford Taurus, 2nd Hand of course. It was garage Kept and in perfect condition. I bought it because I had heard From A Friend That It Was A Very Reliable Car And It Also Has Plenty Pick up to it. I Love the Rack in Pinion steering, and the...

Pros: roomy interior, comfy seats Cons: TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS!
We bought a 91 Taurus almost 2 years ago. It seemed to be in fairly good shape and drove well for a short time. The first sign of problems to come was the CV joints. After they were replaced, the brakes squealed BADLY even after the pads and shoes were...

Pros: Pretty color and very clean interior Cons: Everything fell apart when it was only 4 years old.
My husband and I were needing a bigger car after our 2nd child was born. We wanted something larger than our civic so that we had room to grow and wouldn't have to buy another car for awhile.
We saw this beautiful burgandy Taurus. It had...

Pros: In 1995 it was a nice used car Cons: Early failure of many parts in the vehicle
I just got rid of this vehicle. My family bought it used in 1995 and it was my first car that I had driven from the moment I learned to drive until just a few weeks ago. During the time that I owned the vehicle the rotor cracked causing the wheel to fall...

Pros: Long-lived 3.0 liter engine, nice appointments, easy to own, few problems Cons: wipers, bumper covers The Bottom Line: Ford's Taurus is a dependable, sound, inexpensive car to own. As a mid-range domestic car, parts and repairs are easily available. A very practical car.
I've driven a lot of Fords, and have always found them to be good value transportation. My '91 LX sedan maneuvers well, is comfortable, and reasonably efficient. The LX features are well worth the extra cost, particularly on a used car. My car is runni ...
