Pros: Pretty color and very clean interior Cons: Everything fell apart when it was only 4 years old.
My husband and I were needing a bigger car after our 2nd child was born. We wanted something larger than our civic so that we had room to grow and wouldn't have to buy another car for awhile.
We saw this beautiful burgandy Taurus. It had...

Pros: In 1995 it was a nice used car Cons: Early failure of many parts in the vehicle
I just got rid of this vehicle. My family bought it used in 1995 and it was my first car that I had driven from the moment I learned to drive until just a few weeks ago. During the time that I owned the vehicle the rotor cracked causing the wheel to fall...

Pros: Great Family Car Cons: Older models bring big headaches
I recently traded in my Ford Taurus Wagon for a mini van. The year 1991-1992 Ford Taurus Wagons had many problems and recalls. The transmission was replaced two times in our vehicle and once in my Uncles. They have boot and tie rod problems in the front...

Pros: 220 Horsepower, V6, great sound system when it works, fun to drive Cons: Unreliable, gas guzziler
You might be asking why I named my opinion "Turbo Pinto". Well as a high school graduation gift my father gave me his old 1991 Ford Taurus SHO. The car was purchased brand new in 1991, with every option you can think of. The color on the...

Pros: roominess, appearance Cons: everything mechanical The Bottom Line: I would not recommend this car to anyone. I didn't want to listen myself and now I wish I would have.
I bought this car used from a dealer for $500. I thought that was an excellent price since the car was in perfect condition. I mean not a dent, scratch, spot on the interior, nothing! The guy said it needed a new head gasket so I thought with a...

Pros: Stereo System (installed) Cons: Everything else
My little sister owns a 1991 Ford Taurus, and I've got to admit...it really sucks! Now, I'm not trying to cut down Ford Motor Company in any way, I just think they can build a better car. This particular Taurus has a 3.4 L V6 that barely has a...

Pros: roomy interior and spacious trunk Cons: transmission problems and paint problems The Bottom Line: don't recommend this car to anyone. It will fall apart on you!
I have a 1991 Ford Taurus. I liked it at first but then things started breaking down on me. My car stalls when driven too long in hot weather. It has stalled on me about 6 times last summer. The first thing that started going out was the transmission....

Pros: Still running after all these years Cons: Continually needs repair
I have owned a 91 Ford Taurus since 1995. In that time, I have sunk nearly $5000 worth of repairs into it, including a transmission replacement, numerous brake jobs, and uncounted miscellaneous electrical and alignment-based repairs.
In its...

Pros: roomy interior, comfy seats Cons: TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS!
We bought a 91 Taurus almost 2 years ago. It seemed to be in fairly good shape and drove well for a short time. The first sign of problems to come was the CV joints. After they were replaced, the brakes squealed BADLY even after the pads and shoes were...

Pros: Big trunk/ roomy Cons: auto work
We bought a Ford Taurus a few years ago it was a 91'. We bought it because it fit our family. Well when we bought it we had to replace the transmission and the paint on the hood was chipped. Now it is 2000 and it is already needing another transmission...

Pros: The Engine Is Top Notch Cons: The Transmission Is Below Average and The Other Parts Of The Front End Assembly
I have owned my Taurus for about 3 years now and it has been through the ringer several times. As reliable as the engine is the other components that comprise the front end are not. I have had the opportunity to put it in the shop many times to get it...

Pros: NONE Cons: See Write up
I bought my 91 Taurus from my parents because the prize was right and I knew who owned the car before me. I have had nothing but problems with this car. 1) The light blue paint on the 91 Taurus is defective. It will rust leaving you with a nice...

Pros: Safe, comfortable, roomy, and attractive. Cons: Terribly unreliable, too many high repair costs, and poorly built. The Bottom Line: Don't be deceived by this cars attractive looks and desirable driving character. It's unreliable from A-Z.
For a few months, during the Fall of 2005, I owned and drove a Ford Taurus sedan. I really had a love/hate relationship with the car, which I will explain in more detail later in my review. It was inexpensively priced, had a good safety record, was ...

Pros: low price, nice car, seats 6, comfortable to drive Cons: needs too much costly repair work
I recently got a really great deal on a 1991 Ford Taurus Sedan. It was practically brand new, or so it seemed. It had 131,000 miles on it, but that seemed really good for the product I was getting.
I bought the car. It gets great gas...

Pros: Comfortable, many nice features. Cons: Transmission went out at 79,000 miles. Head gasket soon followed. Heater core went 99,000. The Bottom Line: Do not recommend this car as a primary vehicle, particularly with the 3.8 V6 engine and transmission drive train. My experience with this car made me purchase a new Saturn.
Update 3/30/04: The heater core went out on this car, which basically was the last straw. We sold it as-is, last October. It had 99,000 miles on it. This is our forth Taurus, our second wagon. Our first two Taurus's were an 86 GL Sedan and 87 GL ...
