I love this car

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Powerful engine, very comfortable ride
Cons: None really.
The Bottom Line: If you dread driving a mini-van and don't want the size & efficiency of a SUV this is the best value for your money.

We bought our 1992 Buick Roadmaster (86,000 miles)sedan in 2001 after our 1992 Chevrolet Caprice (250,000 miles) was t-boned & totaled by a semi-truck that ran a red light. We determined that if it weren't for the size of the Caprice, my wife would have ...

Pros: Size, interior, power, low insurance, gas mileage (for a car this size)
Cons: The large pillars and small backlight hinder vision to the rear.
The Bottom Line: The Roadmaster is a great car because it combines power, comfort, and safety in a unique package.

It's a shame nobody but Ford still builds cars like my Roadmaster. I have always owned large, full frame, rear wheel drive cars built by General Motors; which is why I was interested in the Roadmaster when my previous car (a 1982 Oldsmobile Delta 88)...

What every car should be like

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Ride, size, 350 V-8
Cons: Plastic body moulding falls off
The Bottom Line: Smooth, quiet, & large enough for a family, the Roadmaster is the ultimate car. We're taking ours to California in December, and I'm looking forward to our 4000 mile trip!

First, let me tell you that I have owned 14 cars in the last 12 years (including cars driven by my wife). This is the only car that I cannot part with.

I've always been a Ford guy. So when I decided I wanted a big car, I immediately looked...

My Estate Wagon Land Yacht...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Luxury feel and ride, security on the road, sheer size.
Cons: Incorrectly factory-attached trim that keeps falling off.
The Bottom Line: If you can cope with the exterior trim falling off occasionally, buy any good-condition, low-milage 1992-through-1996 Buick Roadmaster Estate Wagon for the bargain of all time.

Buick built this gem from 1992 to 1996 and then it was over. For that brief, shining moment Detroit got it right. National Lampoon magazine first called cars like this "land yachts" in an article on American automotive excesses back in the 70s and they...

1992 Buick Roadmaster Rated

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Great size, power, luxury
Cons: brakes, fuel economy

I bought this car used in 2000. I needed a car big enough for me and my children. I have put 23,000 miles on it so far, and several problems have arisen. The engine and transmission are excellent, but the brakes have been a problem. I have had to replace...

205,000 and still going strong!

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Plenty of Power, Reliability.
Cons: Trans shifts hard from 1st to second. No rear air
The Bottom Line: Great vehicle, good mpg for large V8 and still going after 200K Minivan might be better for transporting adults or larger kids.

We have had our 1992 Buick Roadmaster Wagon for over six years and have put many miles on it. It had around 100K on it when we purchased it. We are the third owners and are quite pleased with its reliability. Since we have many people to transport, our ...

Last of the breed

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: BIG, powerful car (1995 version)
Cons: Absolutely none
The Bottom Line: Get one while you can, if you can find an owner willing to sell. There are no more being made.

Great buy if you want a powerful, roomy sedan with all the amenities one expects in a luxury car. Drive one of these, even a five-year-old model, and you'll be throwing stones at the Toyo-Lexuses and HondAcuras. The 1994-96 versions of this car have...

1992 Buick Roadmaster

Pros: Large, roomy, quiet, like driving a recliner on wheels.
Cons: Hard whip around the Wal-mart parking lot, but I don't like Wal-mart.
My Grandfather passed away and I got his 1992 Buick Roadmaster. I thought it was a crazy piece of junk at first, but OMG was I ever wrong. This car is roomy as my living room. It's 13 years old and solid and noise free as the day it was new. The interior is 100% every button and every knob original and there. A few exterior pieces seem to need reglued. A 350 CI engine that gets 17 mpg city and 26 mpg highway. It's so comfortable and roomy. I can't imagine any car being better. I've had Mercedes and they aren't even close to the feel of this land yacht. It's a pleasure to drive and parts are cheap cause it's the old 350.
If you get one Escalades look small and Toyotas look like go-carts. It makes everything look small.
13 years old and what a ride. Wish they still made them like this.

Buick Roadmaster-A Future Classic

Pros: Stylish, powerful, comfortable,
Cons: Repairs can be problematic.
Buick introduced the Roadmaster name in 1935 for the 1936 model year.  The Roadmaster, at the time, was second only to the Limited as the most expensive Buick.  Buick produced the Roadmaster through the 1958 model year.  It was replaced by the Electra in 1959, and the Electra remained the top Buick for many years.  In 1991, Buick brought back the Roadmaster.

The 1992 Buick Roadmaster is truly an amazing car.  Mine weighs 5246 pounds, yet it gets 17 mpg around town, and 29 on the interstate.  Those who own a Prius, Yaris, Smart Car, Kia, or whatever the trendy small car is now might laugh at that mileage, but that's really quite good.  You want comfort and style, you've got to pay for it.  If you don't care about either of those, go buy a Toyota.

I really can't get over what a smooth ride this car has.  I thought my Lincoln had a smooth ride.  It can't compare to my Buick.
