Pros: SE; Stable, decent power, lots of trick extra engineering.

I had an oppurtunity to buy a 1992 Maxima SE from it's original owner two years ago. It was a black on black leather, 5-Speed, sunroof, air, etc.. The reason why I bought it was because it had a problem with the VTC (Variable Timing Control). ... read more

Pros: Handles good & Good gas mileage
Cons: Unreliable & Repairs WAY too expensive
The Bottom Line: If you need a commuter car & can keep up with a maintenance schedule, get this car. Otherwise, stay away.

When I first got this car from the dealer, it did pretty well for the first 15,000 miles that I had it, but it's all downhill from there. After about 100,000 miles, this car really started to fall apart. It has been in the shop continuously for repairs. ... read more

I've had my SE since 1996, when I found it buried in the back row of the used car lot of a nearby Nissan dealer. It had 21K but it hadn't been cleaned or reconditioned and looked neglected. They'd been steering me toward an SUV but I had a hunch this ... read more
