Pros: cheap for what you get, everything works in it, not bad on fuel esp. highway Cons: doesn't corner very well, gear changes early, delays kicking back gears, parts difficult to get.
1992 Saab 9000 CD 2.3 Auto non-turbo
First, what I like about the car. Quiet, smooth, (mostly) rattle free, not bad acceleration. It feels like a quality car and I love the heated seats in winter. Overall, in Australia a 160,000km 1992 model car for $3200 that was worth $42,000 when new turns out to be a lot of car for not much money. When you put your foot into it, it does actually go quite well.
What I don't like? Let's face it, it wasn't made for going round corners fast, it changes gears a little too early and then if you hit a hill requires you to push the accelerator quite hard before it will kick back a gear. It's an ugly, square box.
I figure that only the most upright citizen would own a Saab, getting it serviced at the dealer at every required interval and it shows in the service logs.
