Pros: comfort; seating; drives like a car; gas mileage Cons: can't see the front end; awkward rear door; difficult to do repairs yourself The Bottom Line: If you want a cost-effective vehicle with lots of space and comfort, but better gas mileage and safer than an SUV, the Villager is an excellent choice.
I swore I would never drive a minivan. Ever. Pardon me a moment while I eat my words... Okay, so that was before I had two kids. Picture a small compact car with two carseats crammed in the back -- NOT a good thing. We bought our Villager used ...

Pros: Good Handling; Fairly Quiet & Smooth; Looks Pretty Good; Nissan Reliability Cons: Some interior ergonomic flaws; Nissan Quest is a little better The Bottom Line: The Villager/Quest should be your only option when looking for an inexpensive, reliable minivan. It's drives well and is nice looking, too.
When I was young(er), say 16-20, one of the things I loathed was the minivan. I guess you could find a ton of people who have heard me say, “I will never drive a minivan.” They are large, ponderous beasts that seem to defy all I stood for in my...

Pros: handles well-like a car Cons: need more cup holders especially in the section behind the driver also to have any work done on the vehicle requires a lot of labor to get to the part in the car. Everything is packed to tight and is hard to get to to repair.
I have a villager, a 1993. It is very dependable. As a matter of fact, my villager has more than 240,000 miles on it and it still runs great. This van will be my oldest son's first vehicle in another year and a half. Dependable-yes!!!!! The van drives...

Pros: "modern" features, drives like a car, seat configuration flexibility Cons: changing seat configuration can be difficult and cumbersome
We purchased our used Mercury Villager when we realized that with a family of five, we needed a larger vehicle. After test-driving many, many used mini-vans, and comparing prices on all, we chose the Villager for the overall value.
We...

Pros: Lots of space and rear heating and cooling Cons: Sloping front that is hard to see
With 4 kids, it was time to get a bigger vehicle. My husband, who is an automotive technician, liked the Villager best. We like the way the van drives, quiet and smooth. It also can tow light trailers. The inside is roomy and has plenty of storage...

Pros: can last for more than a decade with proper care Cons: front seatbelts, it's still a minivan The Bottom Line: If you were looking to buy a minivan a decade ago, this would have been the one to buy. That said, I wouldn't suggest getting any 15 year old vehicle.
van.Yes, the Mercury Villager is without a doubt a minivan. Forget the hype Ford brainwashed several owners that it's a trendy vehicle. Even back in the day when our red 1993 Villager was brand new and I was in elementary school, I knew it was a ...

Pros: Roomy, seats fold for more room, Decent gas mileage Cons: Known mechanical issues are expensive, replacing radio is impossible. The Bottom Line: If you are looking for an older minivan this could have some issues but less then others of the same year.
I had to buy a mini van when our fourth child was on the way. I had an escort I dearly loved. Unfortunately, when you outgrow a car you have to look towards mini-vans and SUV's. After doing a lot of car lot cruising, we found a 1993 Mercury Villager ...

Pros: Styling, handling almost like new after 8 yrs and 130 000 miles Cons: Some manifold bolts are broken The Bottom Line: If you are leaning towards a minivan you definately need to check out a used Villager. Affordable, reliable, excellent all round.
I swore I would never buy a minivan but with two kids and lots of stuff to move around I finally looked into getting one. I researched used minivans under $8,000 and found that the Villager and Nissan Quest were the the only ones rated OK in that price...

She's still running strong!! I've had mine for 5 years ( bought it used) and it has 139,000 on it. I love the way it handles ( like a car). The body holds up very well and I live in an area with salt on the roads almost half the year. I have a small...

Pros: Everything Cons: People simply are afraid of Mercuries
I still cannot imagine why people spend $10,000 more for a minivan, when the Villager has it all. Comfort, styling, features, and an affordable pricetag, the Mercury Villager walks all over the Dodge Caravans and the more-expensive Toyotas and Pontiacs....

Pros: comfortable Cons: not as well made as a toyotas and hondas
While I've been generally happy with my villager (a 93 with only 50,000 miles on it), I was upset to learn from my mechanic that the exhaust manifolds have sheared off and that he's found this to be a common (and unfortunately expensive) problem among...

My wife influenced the purchase of my 1st Villager. She thought it was great to sit at a higher level than a sedan. Well, it was only one of many reasons that we ended up buying it. It turned out to be the best by far of any car purchase we ever made....

BEST CAR EVER. If it would run forever I would never buy another car.

Pros: Indestructable, safe, good in snow, decent power for a minivan Cons: Gas mileage could be better
This van is quite possibly the most epic car on earth. I drive mine into the ground, and it absolutely will not die. It's great in snow, it has a TON of room, and it's very safe. I feel like I'm driving an invincible giant beige tank.
If this car would run forever with average maintenance (gas/oil/washing it/inspection), I'd keep it forever.
It's ancient, and for an old van, it still has a lot of power (considering). I drive it all over the place, all over different surfaces, and it just keeps going.
