Having owned 15 cars in my lifetime (10 being turbocharged or supercharged and 5 of those being 91 MR2 turbos), I think I am qualified on giving some feedback regarding this model. I am going to assume you already have a basic understanding and ... read more

Pros: acceleration, handling, styling, stereo, unique Cons: red paint fades, interior noise, burns through rear tires, brake dust The Bottom Line: If you've ever dreamed of owning a Ferarri... stop dreaming and buy a Ferarri Jr.
I had a poster of this car on my bedroom wall in college and promised myself that if I landed a job that made enough money that I would buy one for a college graduation gift to myself. In 1995, Toyota stopped production of the MR2 in the US (but was ... read more

Pros: Comfy seats, beautiful! Great handling, decent acceleration Cons: the trunk sometimes won't open or shut, tires wear too much, hydroplanes in wet weather The Bottom Line: Just buy the damn car! You'll get a lot of compliments!
While my non-turbo MR2 is not the fastest thing on the road, it definitely is fun to drive. The ride is a little bumpy, but that's what you get if you want good handling. The engine is just noisy enough to sound cool! The acceleration is pretty good, but ... read more

Pros: Handling; performance; feel; everything. Cons: Expensive when new; slightly underpowered (normally aspirated); hard to find used.
The Toyota MR2 is truly a unique vehicle and one of the sad casualties of the mid-90s sports car massacre.
When one thinks about cars with the mid-engine, rear-wheel drive configuration, one thinks of Ferrari, Lamborghini, Lotus. Why do ... read more

Pros: Handling/Power/Looks Cons: Luggage Space/Reliability
After seeing one of these cars on the road I wanted to find out more about them. I learned that it was a true sports car. No cup holders, or grocery hauling capacity was thought of when designing this car. That's exactly what I wanted, a fun to drive ... read more

Pros: Incredible Sports Car Cons: Don't take it in the snow; I wish it had the Supra Engine
I graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in Computer Science in 1993. I had a great job lined up, but I hadn't started working yet. I always loved Ferraris, especially the smaller mid engine ones like the 328 with the targa top. When I saw the MR2 ... read more

Pros: Easy to Drive Cons: Slow Gear shifting
Now, I think that MR2's, the 1990 to 1995 models, are the easiest things to drive in the world. I have to tell you that I had never driven a stick before. I went to go buy a car in Portland and I found a 1993 Toyota MR2. I asked the dealer if I could ... read more
