You Can't Go Right With the Car

by Jaynrand
Jan 2, 2006 (A Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 10 Recommended: No

Pros: Beautiful car, good gas mileage, easy handling and fun to drive.
Cons: Nothing works, nothing stays repaired, a complete engineering disaster.
The Bottom Line: Avoid this car if you can. Almost any other car will last longer and spend more time in your driveway than the repair shop.

My Pontiac Grand Am SE was six years old when I bought it from my brother. He had had it about eight months, but wanted to buy a truck. I had been driving a 1998 Isuzu Amigo (which is ANOTHER nightmare), so I decided to give the Pontiac a try. Years ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 10 Recommended: No

Pros: Great Handling; Sporty feel and styling
Cons: Too many to list here - read the review!
The Bottom Line: Would not recommend to anyone. A friend also had similar problems with her V6 Grand Am

The 1994 Grand Am was the 1st brand new car I ever owned. I purchased it in Nov 1993 using my grandfather's employee discount. In March 1994 the problems started. The brake pads needed to be replaced, and there was a thick layer of brake dust on the ... read more

My Girlfriend at the time use to have a 1994 Grand Am Gt. I don't know maybe she still has it, dunno. I drove the car many times over the year long relationship. Now lets give the car an honest review. I liked the look of the car, until the new model ... read more

May 31, 2004 - Updated Mar 31, 2013 (A Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Inexpensive, good-handling, great gas mileage and good looking.
Cons: Spedometer needle sometimes obstructs the trip odometer.
The Bottom Line: If you're looking for a good used car, the odds are in your favor.

When my wife & I moved from Los Angeles to South Carolina, we needed a car. Nothing fancy; just something to get us around town. Wowzers! Did we ever luck out with the 1994 Pontiac Grand Am! The marvelous "handling" of this little car is ... read more

Jan 26, 2004 - Updated Mar 1, 2004 (A Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: It 10 years old and running like New
Cons: Nothing bad to say of this one
The Bottom Line: Well its been good for me so far and many years to go. My first new car and not ready to give it up.

I always wanted to write on my Grand-Am. I have a 1994 Grand Am Gt. As it was a limited addition and with a sports car style I could not pass it by. As the story goes I had a old 1980 Ford Fairmont station wagon and looking around for 3 months drove ... read more

Good car if you can get it cheap

by hoboken_bear
May 12, 2003 (A Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Decent looks, peppy engine, OK handling, ABS, good radio
Cons: Raucous engine, cheap interior, brakes required regular servicing, susceptible to cross winds on the motorway
The Bottom Line: Cheap, honest transport that was OK to live with. If this is what you want, go for it.

I bought a 1994, 4 cylinder with 125,000 miles in June 2002 for $1500. It was my first car so wanted a car that would tide me over until I qualified for cheaper insurance. The car required quite a lot of work (new tires, tune up and brush up of brakes) ... read more

A good car for the money

by lancekain
Feb 25, 2003 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Very comfortable yet sporty ride, fairly roomy
Cons: awkward shaped trunk opening, interior body panels squeak
The Bottom Line: Not everyone can afford a new car, or wants to pay interest for something that depreciates the first time you use it. If this sounds like you, consider this car.

Pontiac has made attempts to emphasize performance as their primary goal. They try to make even their four cylinder cars feel like their Firebird. EXTERIOR The car does look real nice when it is all shined up with a good set of rims or ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Very fun to drive.
Cons: Expensive tires.
The Bottom Line: I would gladly own another Pontiac Grand Am GT because they are proven reliable cars with acceptable engine power, great performance, and good looks.

I own a blue/green 1994 Pontiac Grand Am GT and it has been very reliable for me. I absolutely love it! This car has been a joy to drive ever since I purchased it used in 1998. I have only had to replace the alternator and maintain regular upkeep(oil ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 20 Recommended: No

Pros: Looks and stereo are very nice
Cons: Everything else needs work
The Bottom Line: This car is good for the looks but buyer beware. I would rather have to make like Fred Flinstone and run my car from place to place.

Last year in August of 2002 i found myself in desperate need of a car for my first one had a couple of accidents. So I went looking for another car fast well i ended up at a used car lot and i just happened to find the best looking car in there the 94' ... read more

Overall- a decent car...

Aug 7, 2002 (A Somewhat Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 30 Recommended: No

Pros: This car has gone through much and its done fairly well.
Cons: But it does have some mechanical faults and is not worth the price we paid.
The Bottom Line: Generally a decent car, but not without its problems.

When this model first came out I really did not care for its overall look, but it grew on me, esp. after my husband purchased one used in Nov. of '95. I do like that its a sedan- 4 Door- practical and yet it's rather sporty and fun too. As with newer ... read more

Apr 13, 2002 (A Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Handling, Gas Mileage, Looks
Cons: Noisy Interior, Power
The Bottom Line: If you want to have a sporty car that will last a long time and get good gas mileage, this car is for you.

The car itself has held up very well over the 100,000 miles the previous owner put on it, other then a couple of interior stains from their children. After I bought the car (Jan. '02), it looked brand new after a good wash and cleaning. The engine was ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 10 Recommended: No

Pros: Hmmm...I wish there was one
Cons: So many to list, you should read on...
The Bottom Line: I hate this car and I can't even get a dealer to accept it as a trade in. That alone tells you what kind of quality car it is.

Ok, I'm a little biased because I was sucked into buying this car because it was all I could afford on short notice. I had a Celica which was on it's last leg (I loved that car) and I needed something fast. The Grand Am LOOKED sporty and fun. Looks ... read more

Cons: Too many to list....see below.
The Bottom Line: Dont ever buy this car. It will give you so many problems!!

This car was my second car. I bought it at one of those park and sell places. It was about $5,000 when i bought it and it was not even worth half of that. That car gave me so many problems. I read about MOMMYNEW's report on her grand am. I can say ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Sturdy, handles well, few mechanical problems
Cons: Smallish, glitches in electrical system
The Bottom Line: Good, solid purchase

I bought my 1994 Pontiac Grand Am GT (with Quad 4, 5-speed stick) as a college student in 1994, and the vehicle is still a workhorse for me. The engine has maintained its punch despite its 110,000-plus miles on it, and I have had few mechanical ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Great on gas! Good power! Comfortable!
Cons: Heater Core. Ignition Coil.
The Bottom Line: This is a great vehicle for anyone who wants a car that has plenty of room, great on gas, and just an overall nice looking vehicle.

I purchased my 4-door 1994 Pontiac Grand AM SE about 2 weeks before I turned 16 in Aug. of 1996. The vehicle had only 35,000 miles. I have since drove that car all over the place. I live in Tennessee and have taken trips to Detroit, MI (4 times), ... read more

Cons: undependable nightmare
The Bottom Line: I will never buy a Pontiac again.

I bought a 1994 Grand Am for $5000 with 80K from a young man last October and I have all heck with this car since I got it. The previous owner told me that the only problem that he had was a few fuses kept blowing but that was it. Well....that is not ... read more

Aug 11, 2001 (A Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Quick 3.1L V6, Value for the money and good on gas
Cons: Brakes every 25,000, brake dust.
The Bottom Line: This car has been great for the amount of miles and wear that I've given it. It takes what your throwing at it.

I bought my 94 Grand Am GT in June of 2000, with 58,000 miles on it. I've put this car to the test, a little over a year since I bought it, now with 89,000 miles on it. This car is quick, getting on the freeway is no problem and just touching the gas at ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Great looks, very stylish
Cons: Engine Problem
The Bottom Line: Recommend, but we had the luxury of a warranty, that may not be the case now.

Bought a 1994 Pontiac Grand AM GT 2-door, brand new, and absolutely loved it...fire red, all the extras, and it was great. No real problems at first, but then at around 36,500 miles, we noticed that we had to put a quart of oil every week in ... read more

Jun 19, 2001 (A Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 20 Recommended: No

Pros: Great look, solid construction, decent gas mileage
Cons: Some very bad mechanical problems which lead to major repairs
The Bottom Line: If you do decide to purchass this vehicle, please please have it fully checked over by a certified Pontiac garage!

I must admit, this was my first 'nice' car. I purchassed it only 3-4months ago used. The original owner kept it in _perfect_ shape, and I only paid $3800(90k miles). the Quad4 engine proved to be quite peppy, and I had no problems with it for a good two ... read more

Apr 25, 2001 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Sporty. VERY Fast. Good Looks. Firm Drive. BEST Steering EVER!
Cons: Brakes. Wheels...that's about it.
The Bottom Line: If you buy a used one, not all drivers take good care of their cars and none of these opinions may apply.

This car was first bought by my brother who took me with him to shop for. Having an inclination that one day I would be driving it (I bought it off him after two years), I choose the color and picked some of the accessories for him. I fell in love with ... read more
