Pros: Reliable, rugged, cheap and good gas mileage Cons: dodgy dealer installed air conditioning, no power steering (on my truck) The Bottom Line: It's a basic vehicle but what it does it does very well
Small pickups tend to be love 'em or hate 'em vehicles. Lots of people dislike them because they aren't full size trucks - but in reality there are a lot of good reasons to own a small pickup. I bought my 1994 Toyota pickup in the summer of 2000, as a ...

Pros: Great reliability and quality, fun, decent hauling capability Cons: Not many bells & whistles
Greetings,
Way back in 1994, my wife and I bought a new 1994 Toyota truck. The 2-wheel drive flavor. Emerald Pearl in color.
Emerald Pearl? "What in the world kind of color is that?" you ask. Well, the easiest way to...

Pros: DEPENDABLE, SOLID, WELL DESIGNED - GREAT TRUCK Cons: EXTREMELY POOR LOCAL AND CORPORATE CUSTOMER SERVICE
I needed a reliable and solid extra cab compact pickup truck after I decided to sell my 1989 Jeep Comanche (THIS IS A GREAT standard cab Truck). I drove all of the domestic and import models and it all came down to either the Ford Ranger (economical but...

Pros: Everything. Cons: Nothing.
One sentence: "ONE AWESOME VEHICLE!!!"
Mine: 1994 Toyota P/U 4X4 Std. Cab. 2.4L inline four cylinder SOHC, fuel injected, 5-speed w/ 116HP and 140lb-ft of torque. Goes anywhere, does anything, takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'....

Pros: Well Engineered Durable FUN Great Looks easy to maintain ... It's a Toyota! Cons: 4 cyl lacks power of a V8 workhorse, best suited for FUN, not heavy loads The Bottom Line: One great, (did I say FUN) truck. Highly recommended, search for a good deal, buy extended warranty if you like. (if it lasts for a year, it'll last for decades)
My 84 Toyota Camary runs great, my 84 Toyota 2wd Pickup still runs great with 240k (but it is time for an upgrade). When I decided to get a newer truck, the decision to get a Toyota was easy, finding one that someone wanted to sell for what I wanted to...

Pros: Great gas mileage, very safe Cons: smaller engine
I purchased a toyota pick up truck as my first new car back in 1994. This truck has taken me farther than any other car I have ever owned. It is now 6 years old, has close to 130K miles, and still is in excellent condition. Yes, it has its dings in...

Pros: Quality engineering and materials, have lead to a long living engine and drive-train. Cons: If I could go back, I'd choose an xtra-cab over the standard. At times, I could use the room.
For five years now, I have been what the air freight industry calls a, "hot-shot drive." Basically, my job is to pick up and deliver hot freight from the local airport and run it out, to out of the way rural areas which are not along the...

Pros: Reliable and well built Cons: You are not going to beat many people off the line with this
Back when I was in high school, my brother owned a Toyota truck. It used to sit outside during chicago winters and would always start, unlike the cavalier that my mother had parked in the garage. I said back then in 1987, that if I was every able to...

Pros: Good gas mileage. Good 4x4 useability. Nice clearance. Cons: No extraordinary reliability contrary to popular opinion.
Rust always a problem. Very spartan The Bottom Line: Don't buy a Toyota made in the USA.
Unfortunately, virtually all of them are. They have been cheapening materials and costs many years now since the truly venerable Toyotas- the ones from which the popular Toyota reliability perception grew- were built.
First I will be fair, and say that this truck had serviced me well over the years up until 100K miles or so. Why I am writing this review is that I feel compelled to offer a counter point to the ubiquitous "Toyota is so incredibly reliable" mantra. ...

My Own Yota

Pros: Reliability, Fuel Economy, and essentially comfort. I Cons: Power is replaced by it's good fuel economy.
For approximately three years now I have owned my "YOTA" as it has come to be called. This truck is by far one of the most reliable vehicles my family has ever owned. I am currently a student at Penn State and every morning I commute to my school. No matter the weather (sometimes below zero in the winter) I can always rely on my YOTA to start right up. I'll admit sometimes he doesn't have the best traction in the world when it comes to snow weather but when it comes to reliability, it doesn't get much better.
