by alr2192
Aug 4, 2008 (A Somewhat Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Huge storage capability, quick fold/hide 3rd row bench. Honda High quality materials
Cons: WHIMPY motor. Japan had a V6..US received the I4.
The Bottom Line: For a 13 year old vehicle, I'd buy another, only this time I'd buy an 1998 EX, VTEC motor.

We bought our 1995 (RA1) Odyssey back in 2002, it had 16k miles from the orig. owner. It was so well maintained that the underbody was still shiny and clean, its as if we had bought a brand new Odyssey. We had looked at the Toyota Sienna and Dodge ... read more

Nov 12, 2007 (A Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Ease of driving, ergonomics, cargo space, passenger capacity, entry/exit, fuel efficiency
Cons: parts availability, complete lack of towing ability.
The Bottom Line: Great at doing what it was made for: Getting groceries, going to soccer practice, bringing the family to grandma's.

My parents bought this machine new over a decade ago, and it has been good despite problems. It's huge and sits 6 in comfort, or can carry a very large amount of cargo. However its pathetic 2.2 liter four-cylinder wheezes to move its own girth when ... read more

Pros: -still running at 200 000km -wheels havent fallen off yet
Cons: -Needs $1500 airbag repair, ABS needs pricey repair, brakes need to be fixed often, etc.
The Bottom Line: I wouldn't recommend this to anyone.

Our 1995 Odyssey was purchased used by my mom and she passed it on to me. It has auto transmission, air conditioning, ABS, power windows and locks. The Good: At least it's still running on it's first transmission and engine. It looks nice. I also ... read more

Perfect for small family

Jan 10, 2003 (A Somewhat Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: 4 swing doors, folding rear chair
Cons: underpowered engine
The Bottom Line: A perfect MINI van for small family.

In the summer of 1998, with two boys age 6 and 11, we decided that two sedans would no longer fit our family. So after some swinging decisions between an SUV and a mini van, we settled on a lease return 1995 Odyssey EX with only 22000 miles on it. This ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Car doors, folding 2nd row, disappearing 3rd row, not huge, great for kids.
Cons: Underpowered, door locks.
The Bottom Line: If you want function over form, buy one.

Yes, I am a man and I drive a minivan. If you are looking for high performance or/and image (read, form over function) then the Honda Odyssey is not for you. Read no further. Go buy a sports car that can fit 2 people (and if you only need room for 2 ... read more

Pros: nimble handling, roomy back storage

I looked forward to replacing a lemon 1992 Dodge Caravan with the first year Honda van. We purchased it new and enjoyed it for several years. The folding back seat has been great! The ride is comfortable and the van handles very nimbly. The ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 20 Recommended: No

Pros: roomy
Cons: more niggling repairs than a pinto

I have been an advocate of Japanese engineering for quite some time. Starting with the Datsun Maxima in 1981,then a Datsun/Nissan pick-up in 1984,and a Mazda 626 in 1991, I have been amazed at the durability and reliability of these vehicles. My ... read more

The Minivan For Those Who Don't Like "Minivans"

by saguarostock
Oct 25, 2000 (A Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Those four swing-out doors!
Cons: 4-cylinder should have been made a six

My wife and I don't consider ourselves the "minivan" type. What is that, you ask? You know... the un-stylish, ho-hum, middle-age types who have left their youth and their individuality so far behind that the words "fun to drive" are ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Roomy, drives like a car!
Cons: We had trouble with the sun roof.

This car is a must have for all moms! We had to buy a bigger car after adding twins to our family last year. I was very apprehensive about getting a minivan because I did not want to feel like I was driving a minivan. The Honda Odyssey drives like a ... read more

Dec 18, 1999 (A Somewhat Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: reliability of Honda
Cons: sliding doors

I own an older version of the Honda Odyssey, and I just love it. I love the idea of a larger engine though, it could use a little more pick up. I also love the idea of more cargo space in the back. The back seat that folds and flips is the same in the ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Ride, doors, folding rear seat.
Cons: None

I bought a 1995 Honda Odyssey new in 1995. I drove it for four years and loved every minute of driving it. The only problem I ever had was an air bag sensor that went bad which was covered under warranty. The four doors that open like car doors was ... read more

by howardh
Sep 11, 1999 - Updated Mar 26, 2000 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Smaller minivan that drives like a car, Swing-out doors front and rear, Magic back seat folds flat
Cons: EX seats only 6 (LX seats 7), Barely enough power, especially when laden, Removing and reinstalling middle seats is really a 2-person job

You'll read great reviews of the new 1999 Odyssey here. It sure looks like they've hit a home run with that model. But what if you're a cheapskate like me and want a minivan that feels comfortable and makes you happy to drive, how about one of the ... read more

Love my van

Jul 15, 2010 (Not Yet Rated)
Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes
Pros: Drives like a car. Great AC. Good mileage.
Cons: SUV's are minivans for people too cool to drive a real minivan...
I bought my van used with 106K on it several years ago. It now has 156K on it. Still runs great, and everything still works. I load a 14.5 foot kayak on the roof rack and still get 22-24 mpg with the yak on top. I replaced the CV joints, brakes, and

Pros: This thing's a tank.
25-29 mpg
I can't say enough positive things about it.
Cons: The engine is a bit underpowered, but that translates back to great fuel economy.
I have a 1995 Honda Odyssey.  It's about to turn 236,000 miles.  The major repairs I've done to it: repaired damage due to an accident.I've had more than one person offer to buy this van from me, above the published "blue book"
