Mean, Green, Snow Machine!

by
Dec 23, 2011 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 30 Recommended: Yes

Pros: roominess, 4WD, posi lock, ground clearance
Cons: gas mileage, transmission, trouble starting, no cup holders
The Bottom Line: In an area where there is a lot of snow, or if you want to go off roading, I would recommend this.

I have owned my 95 Honda Passport for about three years.  I got it from my dad, who didn't take very good care of it.  When I got it, it needed new tires, and an oil change.  The transmission fluid was almost black with shards of metal in ... read more

Little soldier

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Reliable.
Cons: Fuel Injector problem, gas guzzler.
The Bottom Line: GREAT SUV, very reliable, fun to drive. I've had very little problems.

The 1995 Honda Passport is a smaller SUV and is just like the Isuzu Rodeo. They look remarkably similar (the Honda's were made by Isuzu) except for the logo's. The Honda Passport comes in both automatic and 5-speed. I have the 5-speed. I LOVE it. ... read more

Solid Car

by
Mar 22, 2005 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Reliable, reliable, reliable. ...and good 4WD handling.
Cons: Drives like a truck.
The Bottom Line: An absolutely solid car - has given me no real issues in 150,000 miles of hard driving.

I bought this car new and have put 150,000 miles on it. My Passport has seen a lot of rough conditions - many 4WD trips to the desert and mountains mixed up with lots of stop-and-start city driving - and has for long times been neglected. Over the past ... read more

Bought it used and will never part with it

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Nice Look. Lots of Space. Great sound system. Comfortable Seats. Low maintenance. Smooth ride.
Cons: Power locks unreliable. Noisy lifters. Gas guzzler. Slow acceleration.
The Bottom Line: If you can handle the cons, you will absolutely love the pros. I get a lot of compliments from friends on a 95 SUV and it is 2004.

Love is blind they say and the case certainly applies here for me. Despite this SUV's many flaws and the fact that my friends make fun of me for having an Isuzu masquerading as a Honda, I have seriously grown to love my truck. I have hauled everything ... read more

This is your PASSPORT to UNHAPPINESS!

by
Aug 12, 2002 - Updated Aug 13, 2002 (A Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 10 Recommended: No

Pros: Affordable mid-level SUV. Sporty looks.
Cons: Non Honda like reliability. Very expensive to maintain due to poor engineering.
The Bottom Line: Passport to misery and unhappiness!

I bought this Honda thinking it would last 10-15 years and be extremely reliable. I have had nothing but trouble with this Honda. I have had my Passport in the shop about 25 times over seven years for problems. I have found out that even the dealers ... read more

I USED to like hondas. . .

by
Nov 5, 2001 (A Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 10 Recommended: No

Pros: it looks nice and handles fairly well
Cons: power windows break, doors and locks jam, brakes need constant repair, hesitation
The Bottom Line: I wouldn't buy it

I have noted the following problems with my 95 honda passport 6 cyl, manual tranny, rear wheel drive: 1. The mechanism that drives the power windows snaps off at the most inopportune times (torrential rains/blizzard). The windows then ... read more

Can't say enough about it

Nov 13, 2000 (A Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Cargo Space, Looks, Reliability
Cons: Gas Mileage,

I would like to start by saying this is the best vehicle I have ever owned. My wife and I purchased our 95 Passport 2WD in 1998 because we were expecting our first child and wanted something roomy. Also, at the time I worked for the power company ... read more

The best one!

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Very Utilitarian
Cons: Front seat could be bigger

I purchased my 1995.5 passport last year because it was the "oldest" model I could find with dual air-bags. I thought it would be nice...but boy was I wrong. It is GREAT! It has more than enough power (205+), it can go ANYWHERE (I am ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Comfort, reliability, and lots of space
Cons: Gas mileage, it can flip if you take corners too fast

I love my 1995.5 Passport. This is a non technical review. My Passport is so comfortable, and spacious. There is plenty of room in the back for hauling groceries, or I've even hauled sod! I love being up so high where I can see what's going on ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: great ride, comfortable
Cons: none

My husband and I bought this vehicle because we live in Ski Country - over the hills where 4 wheel drive is a MUST. This vehicle has gotten us where we needed to go, reliably & safely. It is a great riding vehicle with lots of elbow room. We can ... read more

Apr 11, 2000 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 30 Recommended: Yes

Pros: four wheel drive, room, versitility
Cons: ride, reliability

When we purchased our Honda Passport used in October 1998, I fell in love. For the first few months I adored it. My kids loved the room for them and they're friends I loved the versitility. But later, however, problems occured. While driving at night, ... read more

Not Bad For A '95

by
Jan 6, 2000 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Turning radius, comfort and reliability
Cons: Poor mileage

After my wife complained about her Sebring sitting too low I traded it for a used 1995 Honda Passport 4x4. Now she is in love with her truck. The 95 Passport is an unusual combination of a GM 3.2 V-6, Isuzu body, and Honda trim touches to the interior, ... read more

My Honda

by
Dec 17, 1999 (A Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Females should buy any sports vehicle but I have not had any trouble with my car!
Cons: Gas is the only bad feature for city driving. I won't go back to a car and be down low. I feel safe in my vehicle!

Question why did I buy the Honda Passport? I owned a Honda civic before the Honda Passport and was thinking of a new car. Curiosity got the best of me and I notice everyone was driving a "Sports Vehicle". As a female,I wanted to know ... read more

Honda Passport 1995

by
Dec 9, 1999 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Its a Honda, overall pretty smooth
Cons: Gas Mileage and it is an Isuzu

The 1995 Honda Passport seemed to be a high end SUV when it came out. Now that it is 4 years old, it has become more affordable for me. It is a Honda and seems to keep its value like the cars, but it is still not a Honda compared to the last 2 Accords ... read more

Passport is a bitter-sweet purchase

by
Nov 14, 1999 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 30 Recommended: Yes

Pros: reliability
Cons: Price, Know thyself

The purchase of a Honda Passport presents a dilemma. The older model, like the '95 I own and base this review on, is a god-sent in the snow or in rough terrain. It handles like a car, with a decent turn radius, and it WOULD make a great family car if I ... read more

Epinions Express Reviews
I have had mine since 2001
by
Jan 18, 2008 (Not Yet Rated)
Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes
Pros: Looks like an SUV should, not like a cookie cutter mobile SUV "MiniVan".
Cons: Gas mileage could be better 22-24 mpg.
The Bottom Line: I would recommend this truck to anyone who doesn't mind the normal care and want a low-problem vehicle.
I really love this truck. I have taken it too Utah a couple times, Arizona and pretty much all over the place. She has done nothing but been good to me. After reading a few reviews of only negative things about this vehicle, I gotta wonder if they even ... read more
