What a Surprise

Pros: Quick, responsive, smooth ride. Very dependable. Better treatment at dealerships than other car companies.
Cons: Cupholder configuration and diode light replacement.
The Bottom Line: Would not buy anything else. For the money, you can't buy a better, more reliable, comfortable car with lasting value.

I bought a 1995 Lexus ES300 four years ago in a silent auction from my company (previous salesman's car), I did not do a lot of analysis. I figured Toyota to be a decent ride and I bid a price at that time about 60% of loan value. Besides: Acura = ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Smooth ride, Reliability, Loaded with nice options like heated seats and 6-disc CD changer.
Cons: Expensive maintenance at the Lexus dealership. CD changer in trunk instead of glove box.
The Bottom Line: If you are looking for a car with an exceptional ride and unmatched reliability, buy one. Don't be afraid to buy a used one with high miles.

I purchased my 1995 Lexus ES300 used in August of '01 with 112,000 miles on it. I have always liked Toyota products ever since I drove my sister's '93 6 cylinder Camry about 6 years ago. But I like the looks of the ES300 much better than the Camry. ... read more

Nice car, but not trouble-free

by
Sep 19, 2002 (A Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Comfortable, stylish.Great brakes.
Cons: Suspension too soft on curvy roads, Lexus parts much more expensive than Camry. Bad mpg.
The Bottom Line: Good car for women. Buy a used one. I would never pay over $19,000 for this model.

I like the car, but the A/C went bad at 60,000 miles, $1500 to fix. A cv joint went bad at 70,000 miles. And the car has always had a strange "shimmy" above 60 mph. It is a little squirrely in the snow and rain. Also, for the $35K sticker ... read more

Pros: excellent build quality
Cons: wallowing indecisive feel

With Lexus one immediately has to think luxury end of the car market. Even a '95 model is expected to be pretty damn good and the example I had use of for a week was not exception. The Toyota build quality of the Lexus range is, by now, ... read more

Pros: Nice and surprisingly affordable
Cons: Men don't seem to like to drive the ES300

This review is not about the 2000 model. It is about how you can get into a Lexus at an affordable price. A few years ago, I wanted a luxury car. I wanted a Lexus. At first, I didn't even plan to go to the Lexus dealership. $40,000+ was more ... read more

My mother bought her Lexus in 1995 and by far it is the best car my family has ever owned. It has been the best investment in a car they've made so far. The maintenance costs of this vehicle have been extremely low, meaning not much has gone wrong with ... read more

Cons: In the 1995 ES300 there is no CD player.

The title says it all. I love my Lexus! Let me start by saying that I'm not the "luxury car" type. When my daughter was born, it was time for us to get a second car. My husband and I studied all the consumer magazines and came up with a ... read more

Pros: Holds the road, price
Cons: Leather slippery

The Lexus ES 300 is a reliable and comfortable car to drive as well as being stylish. The ES 300 is a very smooth ride and the cabin is fairly quiet although there seems to be noises that emit from the sun roof and the windows. Lexus was informed of ... read more
