Pros: Handles well, runs well does the job.
Cons: Mediocre gas mileage.
The Bottom Line: Great car, fun to drive, and just plain good looking.

I have been driving a 1995 Altima SE for 10 years and 150,000 miles. I bought this car after a good run with a Sentra SE. Nissan has always understood the meaning of SE "Sport Edition" and in the years I have owned this car it has never failed me. The ... read more

Pros: gas mileage,reliability
Cons: very little, some road noise (but it IS an older car)
The Bottom Line: Extremely reliable vehicle, wish I had this as my first car during college.

I have owned my 95' Altima SE for about 6 years now and could not have made a better choice (bought it used, when it was 2 yrs. old). I needed a vehicle that could offer the versatility of being truly USEFUL yet still sporty and fun to drive. My model ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Comfortable and durable.
Cons: Fewer ameneties than its competitors.
The Bottom Line: Nice quality, obviously durable.

I traded in a full side truck for the Altima because i needed better mileage. (Transferred to UT, family in ID) It had 119,000 miles when I bought it for $3000 so I was pretty apprehensive. Since then I have put 3000 miles on it and it runs like a top. ... read more

Pros: Fun to Drive!!!
Cons: Parts are expensive
The Bottom Line: I recommend this vehicle to anyone who wants a nice car.

This car is so much fun to drive. I got this car broken down for an exchange of my small geo metro (the guy was desperate for a running car). All it needed was a starter. It has been a great car. The seats are very comfortable, it has 4 doors instead of ... read more

Jan 9, 2003 (A Somewhat Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Reliable, fun to drive, great car.
Cons: Squeaky brakes, lost wheel covers.
The Bottom Line: This is a great car, the problems I have had have been minor. The car has provided years of trouble free transportation.

I bought this car used in 1999 and think it was the best vehicle purchase I ever made. I had looked at the Altima when it first came out, but opted for a different vehicle at the time. I should have gone with the Altima. It has provided years of ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Good MPG, Good looks, good drivetrain
Cons: Gas tank is TOO small!
The Bottom Line: Great car in every way, but only for single people and small families. Large families should not even consider it.

My mother recently purchased a 1995 Nissan Altima with 55,000 miles on it. It is champagne colored and has really good looks. After she bought it, she let me take it down to Detroit for a few days. This car does not have a very ... read more

Aug 28, 2002 (A Somewhat Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Good Acceleration, Good Looks, dependable
Cons: brakes are not the best
The Bottom Line: The First Generation Altima is good, the new 2002 Altima is good, but the 1998-2001 Altimas are horribly designed.

We bought the Altima the year it came out, actually in November of 1994. I was only 9 at the time, so I really didn't care about cars very much. When I turned 15, I started getting interested in them, and then when I got my permit in 2001, I drove the ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: A lot of car for your money with nice styling.
Cons: Nothing to complain about.
The Bottom Line: A great value in a very attractive package. Bulletproof reliability and better than expected performance. A wolf in sheep's clothing.

I was very pleasantly surprised by all the space and amenities of the Altima compared to the rather sanitized look of Honda and Toyota. Jerry Hirschberg, the Altima's designer at Nissan, knows how to give a family car sex appeal, and he did it well with ... read more

Pros: Great looks, good power (4-cyl), smooth ride
Cons: Not overly spacious
The Bottom Line: Bottom line is that I would recommend all of my friends to own an Altima.

My 1995 Nissan Altima is a great car. I also drive a 1993 Honda Accord. I love my Accord and I thought when I bought the Altima that it would be second rate. I am having a hard time deciding which car I like best. I am 6'4" tall so I need a car with ... read more

Pros: good gas mileage, long lasting
Cons: not very fast, but who would expect it to be
The Bottom Line: Trouble free, economical car, good pickup

The nissan altima is an overall dependable, gas efficient car. It rides nice and has a lot of leg room on the inside. The engine is 2.4 liter 150 horsepower, which has a lot of pickup for a sedan (it will outrun any standard v-6 mustang of the same ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: great family car; dependable; fun
Cons: 2WD

In '95, I needed a family car, and I needed to start a credit history, so we decided to lease one. Altima became the car of choice for its room, power (the most powerful in its class, 2.5 liter 150 hp 4-cylinder engine), and comfort. In the 5 ... read more

I never thought I would own a foreign automobile. My wife pushed me to look at Nissans because of the wonderful success she had with her 200SX (250,000+ miles!). I am very impressed by my SE model. I was looking for a car that was sporty, yet ... read more

Pros: reliable, good mileage, no major maintenance
Cons: I'll have to trade it in if I have another kid!

We bought our 95 Nissan Altima in 1997. It had 38,000 miles on it at the time and was a good bargain at the local used car dealer. We were looking to trade in a very troublesome GMC Jimmy, and we wanted a passenger car that had more room than our Honda ... read more

Pros: Excellent reliability, smooth ride, excellent ergonomics.
Cons: Lack of interior storage areas, smallish seats, paint job isn't the best.

I've been an Altima owner for nearly five years now. (Obviously, then, I'm talking about the older body style here.) And the car still runs as well today as it did on day one. That in itself is impressive. So far my Altima, aside from the usual ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Reliable, comfortable, peppy
Cons: Alternators and exhaust systems die early

I bought my first used Altima in '94, it as a 1993 manual transmission. I drove it to 120,000 miles and nearly cried when it was totaled in an accident earlier this year - I intended to drive it until it died. Our second Altima was a 1995, ... read more
