Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Power, comfortable, fun to drive
Cons: back seat does not fold down
The Bottom Line: Great car. If I didn't need a bigger car, I would keep this one forever.

I needed a different car for my family. We had a 1989 Volvo 740 Turbo. Safe car, built like a tank, but gas mileage and handling like a tank. My Uncle was selling his 1995 Maxima that they had purchased new in 95. It was the base model, so 5 speed ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: good acceleration, reasonable braking, comfortable ride, very spacious, lots of standard options
Cons: starter, slightly mushy cornering, eats air filters, sound system needs work
The Bottom Line: A solidly built car with a touch of performance added in. It's fun to drive and startlingly quick for what it looks to be. Tops the Camry/Accord any day.

The title of this article is set for a reason, that's exactly what the car dealer told me right before I bought this car... and surprised I definately was. Like the review I did on my new car (1997 BMW z3), I'm going to break this down into sections to ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Responsive engine, comfortable interior, runs well after a decade.
Cons: OD sensors go out and they are expensive, expect to spend $300 on maintenance
The Bottom Line: Love the car and would like to buy another.

5 years ago, after a decade of adolescent dreaming, I test drove a 95' Maxima SE. Today, after half a decade of beloved driving, I am thrilled to Max out daily. Dubbed the G-Ryde(G=Gold), I am still impressed with it's "world class V-6"(picked that up ... read more

Pros: Excellent power AND fuel economy, can be equipped very luxuriously, good reliability.
Cons: Expensive to fix and a horrible safety record.
The Bottom Line: Premium quality mid-size sedan for a premium price.

The 1995 Nissan Maxima GXE I own is overall a pretty nice car. It's got most of the features I like in a car. Features such as: power windows, locks, and A/C. The Maxima is intended to be a sporty family sedan, so naturally the seats are firmer than ... read more

I bought my 1995 Maxima SE on 9/11/01 and have put 50,000 miles on it. It now has 142,000 miles and runs great. When I first got it I had mixed feelings about the exterior styling. I thought it looked nice, but it also looked like many other cars. ... read more

Pros: Bose System, Ride.
Cons: A/C went out.
The Bottom Line: If you want a quiet, smooth ride, get this car.

I owned a 95' Maxima GLE and loved ALMOST everything about it. We have owned the car for 5 years and have NEVER broken down. Little things went out, which is expected after 100K miles. We had to replace the CV Boots, Axle, Serp. Belt, Battery, BOTH O2 ... read more

May 7, 2002 (A Somewhat Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Fast, Furious, Comfortable, Smooth, Reliable, Quiet, Roomy
Cons: Too tall for a sports car ;) swerves a bit when cornered hard
The Bottom Line: This is the car if you get tired of being passed by...and if you want the car going for next 3 years: something you can't say about Mitsubishi/American cars

Being a 21 yr old college kid, reliability and $ meant everything to me. That means: stick with the RELIABLE FOUR--Honda, Toyota, Subaru, Nissan. Given that Subaru's are not so common, my previous car was 1994 Honda Civic EX, 125 HP VTEC ... read more

Jul 12, 2001 (A Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: 190 HP smooth acceleration feels and looks expensive inside and out superior handling
Cons: me-too exterior styling; unfortunate rear-end; standard transmission hard to find
The Bottom Line: The best performing sedan for the money - reliable, sporty and teh insurance rates of a family car w/out the ho-hum drive

The Maxima SE is a great car if you are in the market for a roomy, sporty sedan. I had looked at several cars for around 10,000 - a '98 malibu, a 97' intrepid, and my (previous) dream cars - a '97 wrangler and post '91 300zx. The malibu felt cheap ... read more

May 19, 2001 - Updated May 20, 2001 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Fast, very reliable, great fuel economy, roomy, excellent controls
Cons: no fold-down rear seat, no outside air temperature indicator
The Bottom Line: This is a phenomenal used car bargain. The 5th generation Maxima is very nice, but IMHO not a significant improvement over this 4th generation Maxima.

On August 13th 1994, I took possession of my first new car: a 1995 Nissan Maxima SE. I had it outfitted with every option available, except an automatic transmission and the cold weather package. Right from the start, I felt I made the right ... read more

Love this car

Feb 10, 2001 (A Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Great power, looks good, seems reliable
Cons: So-so shift quality, squealing brakes at start up, a bit rattly
The Bottom Line: As a used car, great! Why buy a cheap new car when you can get a fully equipped, luxurious, fast, reliable used car like this?

I bought this car used from someone at work last year with 78000 km on the clock. It had been backed into by a large truck at some point in it's life and had a very expensive repair bill (no structural damage but new A/C, hood, rad. etc.) which made it ... read more
