Pros: very roomy, pretty good gas mileage Cons: tailgate is prone to rust, limited payload capacity The Bottom Line: Highly recommended. Trouble free for years. Do yourself a favour and get the 6 cylinder
I had never driven a foreign vehicle before 1995 nor had I ever driven a truck or SUV. The concept of buying a SUV was new to me and I really wasn't sure what to expect. I am not a car/truck enthusiast and really probably wouldn't appreciate the ...

Pros: Endurance, power, speed, interior features. Cons: Not one to mention, never had a single problem in 6 years! The Bottom Line: This is absolutely the best SUV out there both for style and performance.
My dad has owned this truck since 1995, and talk about iron clad. A true testimonial to its fine performance was illustrated in Summer of 2000 when my dad hit someone broad side at an intersection in my home town. The other car was totalled, my dad's...

Pros: reliable, tight interior, huge back area Cons: pricey, cupholder in wrong place (1995)
Before buying this SUV, I had only owned little bitty Hondas and Toyotas. Sporty little cars that zipped around corners but couldn't haul much more than groceries. I am a small person, so I wasn't sure how it would feel to drive a BIG truck. I test...

Pros: Sturdy, smooth, roomy, powerful, and fun to drive (with 5-speed.) Cons: Aside from a short clutch, nada. The Bottom Line: The 4Runner has spent very little time at the shop (except various fluid and tire changes) and, boy it is soo fun to drive!
OVERVIEW
There are some cars out there that make you think about your personal preferences.
I'm not an SUV fan. I don't like them because they are not as safe as people make them to be, and they handle so sluggishly....

Pros: Elegant, reliable, good mileage compared to other SUVs in its class, Not limited anywhere Cons: Back seat, acceleration
I have a 95 Toyota 4 runner SR5 with all the options. I driven or owned about every sports utility out there between my parents SUVs and works and mine. Compared to all the other SUVs, I love this one the most. I has the elegant look to it but the 3 feet...

Pros: roomy, good gas mileage in city Cons: loses some degree of acceleration on steep inclines
What a Vehicle!, I must say I am very impressed with our recent purchase of a Toyota 4Runner. Back in May my husband and I decided that it was time to get another "new-used" vehicle. We had SUV in our minds with our growing family, currently we...

Pros: Rugged Vehicle, Handles Well in Bad Weather Cons: ABS only in 2WD - fixed in later models; Mediocre Gas Mileage
The 4-Runner is a great vehicle. I own a 1995, and am looking forward to purchasing the 2000 later this year. With over 50,000 miles, this vehicle has never needed service other than routine maintenance.
I bought a 4-Runner because of the...

Pros: Dependability Cons: Pick up
I own a 95 4runner and love the vehicle but it does not have enough pick up. I have not had any problems with it but take incredible care of the car. The ride on road is decent but the off road capability is incredible. The only thing that the car...

Pros: Size Cons: Size
Ok. I'll admit that I didn't buy my 1995 Toyota 4Runner. I inherited it. I understand that there have been some improvements to the later models, including a neat exterior re-styling and some additional power, but the fundamental mechanics are still...

Pros: Great quality, handling, styling, cargo space, front seats. Cons: Poor engine, rear seats. The Bottom Line: If you can live with the small engine, you won't be disappointed in the quality and engineering of a 4Runner.
Background:
==========
When I started looking for my first car, I knew that I wanted an SUV. I had to have something really macho. I did my research, as I should have. Everyone seemed to like the Toyota 4Runner. It had excellent...

Pros: Reliability, room, off-road ability Cons: Lacks power The Bottom Line: Perfect for the job. Will probably never sell it.
I think the first thing that should be said is, if you want a mini-van or sedan you shouldn't buy an SUV. Too many people want an SUV they can drive on the freeway, then complain that it doesn't handle like a sedan or accelerate like a sports car. This...

After having driven my Dodge Intrepid for 7 years (5 years Eagle Vision, 2 years Intrepid) and scared to find out what was going to go wrong today, the Toyota has been a breath of fresh air. My girl friend has just bought a 95 Toyota 4-Runner and let me...

I bought my '95 4runner from my mom and I swear to you, it has never had to have one part replaced or anything tuned and it runs like new. We live in Lake Tahoe, CA and in winter, this car is very good in snow and just works flawlessly! The 4runner is...

Pros: Reliable, stylish, lots of cargo room, range of view (sit up real high!), tough Cons: a little top-heavy (as with any SUV though), pricey if bought at retail, The Bottom Line: If you are looking for a stylish SUV to haul around the kids, the groceries, the vacation equipment, etc., this is a great and reliable vehicle!
I bought my 4Runner used over 2 years ago and I am absolutely thrilled with it. I needed a bigger vehicle, so I sold my reliable Civic and went the SUV route. I have had all the regular maintenance done on the 4Runner, and have had NO problems with it...
