Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Long lasting when maintained properly, efficient, easy to repair, quality craftsmanship, engineered to be comfortable
Cons: Trunk leaks water, premature failure of rubber parts, power adjustable features not always reliable
The Bottom Line: As far as used vehicles go, it's an obvious decision. For new drivers, those concerned with safety, or someone who needs a smooth ride, this is the best possible choice.

1995 Camry DX I'm a strong proponent of the 3rd gen. Camry. I've owned this car for 4 years and although it's had a few issues, I trust it more than anything else I've driven. It would appear that this car was engineered with longevity in mind. With ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Durable, smooth and quiet. Easy to service.
Cons: Parts can be expensive compared to American vehicles.
The Bottom Line: This is the car the Energizer Bunny should drive.

You can't go wrong with this vehicle. I have the LE model with 4 cylinder engine. The vehicle has in excess of 225,000 miles and the doors close with a satisfying solid "chunk", there are no rattles, and it is as smooth as velvet starting, shifting and ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Reliable, good build quality, rugged
Cons: Interior ergonomics, wind noise
The Bottom Line: When looking for a slightly higher mileage vehicle, the camry offers you class leading reliability, comfort and peace of mind.

We purchased this car in February 1995 from a Toyota Dealer in Maryland. We bought the LE 4 cyl. with no additional packages. It came with power windows/ power locks/ motorized radio antenna, AM/FM/Tape, dual fold-down rear seat-backs. At the time it was ... read more

A whitegood by any other name?

by jamsvx
Jan 07 '03

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Outstanding reliability, understated, does not attract attention
Cons: 4 cyl is low on power, cost of replacing struts
The Bottom Line: A bargain sedan!

Countless times I have seen in the press the Toyota Camry referred to as a 'whitegood' (akin to a fridge, washer or the like)on account of its boring facade, lack of 'go' and a myriad of other attributes that the car never had nor was meant to have. ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Well built (feels solid), reliable, comfortable interior
Cons: possibly the suspension and transmission
The Bottom Line: This is a well built car. Still one of the best on the road.

I bought my Camry in January of 1998, and got what I felt to be a great price (below the book). Everyone comments on how quiet and smooth the ride typically is. As far as reliability, I feel that it is above average, but not perfect. I would not ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: rock-solid reliability, roomy
Cons: 4-Cyl has no pick up, many wrecked & repaired camry's on the market
The Bottom Line: If you want a simple car, which is easy to find and very dependable, you can't go wrong with the Camry. It is absolutely trouble free.

I bought my '95 Camry XLE in July of '99. It had 91k miles at the time and it was fantastic. Before finding this car, I was in the market for either a Camry, Accord, or Maxima. The problem with these cars is that there are very many wrecked cars, which ... read more

Pros: Styling doesn't look old. Reliable. Roomy. Quiet.
Cons: Few gadgets. Expensive (but worth it.)
The Bottom Line: A reliable car with few frills.

My dad bought this one new in 1995. The only problems we've had are: - Had to replace brakes around 60000 km. They then started making some noises after 85000 km. - The antenna sometimes got stuck and didn't retract completely. - Over time ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Worry free transportation, comfortable driving and lots of space.
Cons: gas mileage could be better.
The Bottom Line: As close to a perfect car as I've ever known.

I mean I'm past 50 and have a lot of interests, so for me a car is just a means of getting from point A to point B in comfort. I don't want to spend very much time or money on maintenance or repairs. When I get in the car I want to feel it's always ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Smooth, powerful engine. Well-appointed interior.
Cons: Requires work to make it your own. Hard to find in parking lot.
The Bottom Line: Budget for those 70k repairs, and you will be very satisfied with the ownership of this car.

I didn't want to buy this car originally. When I started college, I was determined to buy a nice car, and the ubiquitous Camry was not what I had in mind. But my dad held fast that a used car must have a reputation for reliability, so he offered to buy a ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Excellent value, durable, reliable and just keeps running
Cons: As a used vehicle, it is still expensive due to it's high resale value.
The Bottom Line: If you want reliability, durability and economy in the same vehicle, the Camry is it! Its styling and mechanical design by evolution guarantees the owner a long and satisfying experience!

We have owned and operated a '90 Camry since 1995 and have been thoroughly satisfied with it. We bought it with 127k miles on it and it now has over 205k and had no major service issues with it. It is time for a newer vehicle, however, so we started to ... read more
