Pros: Excellent Handling Cons: Too small with 2 kids, a little pricey at time
In 1995, My husband and I started the search for a new vehicle. At this time neither one of us had ever owned a new vehicle. Well after a few months of searching and driving several different vehicles we still had not made a decision or even knew what...

Pros: Fun to drive, Handles well, nice looking car overall. Cons: Those little things that drive you nuts. The Bottom Line: I have two, the GLS and the Anniversary Edition if that says anything.
I am on my 2nd 1995 Jetta. I will share with you the pro's and con's of both of them. I will refer to my 1995 Jetta Anniversary Edition as Jetta #1 and my 1995 Jetta GL-S as Jetta #2 from here on out. DETAILS OF EACH ...

Pros: Value, Resale Price, Economy, Options, Fun Cons: Mercurial Dealer Network, Quirks, Odd things that fail
My wife and I did a 4 year lease of our 1995 VW Jetta GLS (4 cylinder model with full electrics package, sunroof, 6 CD changer, and heated seats, stickered at $17,500) for around $230 a month. It was an incredible value even though the warranty...

Pros: Cute, Easy to drive, fairly economical for a nicer car Cons: Annoying little problems, a little noisy, touchy when it's cold
I bought this car for a few reasons: It was cute, it had a sunroof, it was an automatic, and it didn't have that many miles on it.
When I bought it, it was used, and only 1 year old. I will have paid close to $18,000. The previous owner was...

Pros: runs well Cons: a million little problems, some not so little The Bottom Line: Although my Jetta has been reliable for transportation, it has had too many things go wrong with it for me to recommend it. Don't buy a Volkswagen!
I didn't want a Jetta, but I was only 18. My dad picked it out because of the great deals Volkswagen had on leases. I also didn't want to lease a car. I wanted a nice used car, but he wanted me to have a new one. So we left the VW lot with a new 1995...

Pros: stylish yet sporty, durable, and comes with a bike Cons: It's not a race car, but engine is adequate
I got my 1995 Jetta Trek (Yes, the one that came with a great Trek bike and multi-purpose rack) before I went to law school, and I won't need another new car for a while.
The Trek was very affordable (about $18,000 when brand new), and you get a lot...

Pros: Powerful, excellent handling, good braking, good looking, unbreakable Cons: Target for distracted rivers The Bottom Line: If they still want a driver I am ready!
And it was meant to be. My Jetta was stuck from the back by a so-called “driver” driving a so-called “car”. I had to leave her to a repair shop. What a misfortune: while driving a rented car described in another review, all the good things about my VW...

Pros: Very nice mix between handling and ride comfort, Fuel economy and quick pickup power. Cons: Day time running lights burning out. Goodyear tire always going low. The Bottom Line: The Jetta is a very good safe and fun to drive car. Buy VW certificated. Because with the new Jetta, you might find a GM midsize a better value.
Praise God
My wife and I were going down the highway traveling about 50 MPH. A logging truck rammed into the driver side of our Jetta, breaking the drivers door glass. My wife was driving she was yelling and crying, as this huge truck was pushing us...

Pros: Great handling, power, and agility Cons: Poor "premium" audio, side moldings, and electrical system The Bottom Line: I would not buy a VW due to continued poor electrical systems and poor manufacturer support
I have been a loyal VW owner for about the last 12 years. This is my fourth VW, including two Jettas, and a diesel Rabbit. I bought this car outright from the dealer and have been impressed with the power of the engine and responsive handling. I lived in...

Pros: Good handling, good acceleration, pretty reliable, great gas mileage, lots of space Cons: Speakers rattle when the weather is cold, horn controls are not on the hub The Bottom Line: Pretty good car. Nice handling and great gas mileage make it a very good first car to own. I like it a lot.
I drive a 95 VW Jetta 3. I've had this car since November of 1999. Ever since then it's been a pretty good car for the purpose that I got it for, which is to carry me around comfortably, reliably, and safely. During the time that I've had it, it's...

Pros: Lots of room for a small car Cons: As the children grow, the car stays the same size.
I have had my Volkswagen Jetta for five years now and I still love it. For a small car it offers a lot of room, not only in the front like a lot of compact cars. Even an adult can sit in the back seat without hunching over. There is a lot of trunk...

Pros: fun to drive, good acceleration, adjustable seat, power locks, roomy, large trunk Cons: poor electrical system, mysterious pieces that fall off, does poorly in Consumer Reports The Bottom Line: I would stay away from the '95 model.
I list a lot of pros for the VW, however the electrical problem I think overrides all positives. It's just too expensive to fix.
My husband and I bought this car about 2 1/2 years ago from a dealership. After about 6 months the dashboard...

Pros: Looks nice Cons: POS
My father had been driving VW's since the 60's when he owned a microbus. He had recently sold his 1986 Jetta that had lasted 190,000 miles without a hitch. I figured that I would go along with this practice too. I wanted a car that would last 190,000...

Pros: INCREDIBLE handling; good power; lots of space for a few people and lots of things since the back seats fold down; good looks (in my opinion); plenty of storage area; very fun car to own Cons: Can-sized up holders in the front that are placed in a bad spot; not much of a "premium" audio sound; no glove compartment in my car (I am sure that other Jettas have this option)
The 1995 Volkswagen Jetta is a car for anybody. While it still proves to be an efficient automobile, it also provides more fun to driving that would normally be boring. I first wanted this car for the fun and unique commercials that Volkswagen created...

Pros: Gas efficient, huge trunk Cons: Poor front cupholders, no glove box
I originally bought my Volkswagen Jetta two years ago because it was very popular. I really liked the boxy look of the Jetta. Most of all I love the fact that I can drive for over a week on one tank of gas. It runs well and I have not had to take it to...
