Pros: Safety, build quality, comfort, options. Cons: RWD w/o traction control (snow tires fix this) The Bottom Line: Buy one with a good history and low miles with as many options as possible. Pretty standard for any used car.
Beautiful car! I have owned quite a few Volvos and this 960 is just as durable and comfortable as any other model Volvo has offered. Basic maintenance and upkeep are par for the course. CHANGE YOUR TIMING BELT! CHANGE YOUR OIL! FLUSH YOUR BRAKES! Basic ... read more

I bought the 1995 Volvo 960 Sedan from my cousin, he grew out of it and I needed a car. He left it pretty messed up, so at first I didn't see anything special about it. Once I got inside and cleaned it out though, I saw what a cool ride I had obtained. ... read more

I am still driving my 1995 850 Turbo. It now has 175,000 miles and my service agent, also a Volvo owner, says I am not even half way through the life of this car. He says the driver’s seats often wear out before the cars or the engines do. If you like ... read more

Pros: Great engine, roominess, understated plush factor (quality Volvo appointments), durability, RWD. Cons: "Check engine light" by sensor misreads, costly OEM parts for a young person's budget The Bottom Line: For a car that's withstood a diverse workload its entire life, it complained little. Some kinks, but mine does have 165k. The engine responds best to spirited driving.
My trusty 1995 Volvo 960 wagon was my first car, which I drove quite a bit throughout high school and part of college. So, I'll start from the beginning of my experience. My wagon was an awesome learner car. The 960 and S90/V90 were well made, with a ... read more

Pros: This car has an excellent stereo system, comfortable seats, roomy trunk. Cons: The engine on this particular motor is known for its unreliability. The Bottom Line: Basically, please avoid this model. Me and others have had to replace the engine on this car after under 100K miles. It is not worth it.
