Pros: Pretty car and large enough for full sized man.Stayed at the junk yard. Cons: That I purchaced this car.Everything kept breaking down.Brakes, shocks, engine, rough ride. The Bottom Line: I would never recommend this car. It ran well for short time, but no one ever knew what was wrong.
Me and my wife actually purchased this car in Oct of 1995. From the very beginning we had problems. After two weeks of ownership, the rack and pinion had to be replaced. The dealership constantly stated there were not problems, but kept getting worse. ...

Pros: comfortable seats and steering wheel, nice exterior Cons: reliability, quality of interior, performance The Bottom Line: It is acceptable as an entry-level car. But, there are better cars out there (I prefer Hondas/Toyotas).
I've owned this car from April 2006 until now (November 2007). Before that, my friend owned it from August 2004 until April 2006. I know the repair history from both those times. I also have reports about the interior/exterior and performance of the ...

Pros: Reliable, low maintenance, inexpensive, cheap and easy to fix, good gas mileage Cons: Interior cheaply made, low safety ratings, poor resale value The Bottom Line: Great value, reliable, good gas mileage, poor resale value, low safety ratings
I bought a used 1996 Cavalier in 1999 that had 57,000 miles. I paid around $6,000 and probably got the most reliable vehicle I could for the money. Now, in 2005, the car has nearly 150,000 miles on it. Simply put, I have had absolutely no major ...

Pros: Gas Mileage, Lower parts cost, basic reliability. Cons: Small, gets "squeaky" after years of driving The Bottom Line: I would absolutely recommend this vehicle to someone who needed cheap reliable transport.
Hey what's up? I'm an American car driver. Always have been, probably always will. I bought a used 1996 Chevy Cavalier off the lot in early 1997. It had about 23,000 miles on it, smelled a little like cigarettes on the inside, was most likely a ...

Pros: Performance, looks, insurance, gas mileage, and reliability Cons: Rattles in dash, cup holder is right in front of the stick The Bottom Line: Quick, sporty car with good reliability and good looks.
I just sold my first car which was a 1991 mercury tracer lts and then purchased a 1996 Z24. I have owned it for a bit and haven't had any major problems with it. I like almost everything about this car. It has power windows, mirrors, sunroof, cruise ...

Pros: Good engine, Comfortable, great mileage Cons: Small back seat and cargo space, but it's a SMALL car! The Bottom Line: I would recommend this for any students getting a first-time car or anyone else looking for a cheap, dependable vehicle.
I bought a used 96 cavalier from a coworker. I was only about 17 at the time and my 89 Ford Taurus was falling apart. I've had it for over 2 years, and still do, even though I just bought an explorer to replace it. It's done a great job of getting me ...

Pros: Excellent gas mileage, decent looks, cheap if you own a repair shop Cons: VERY unreliable, Cheaply designed, too many problems The Bottom Line: get your wallet out and leave it out because you'll need to cover a hole lotta repair costs!
What can i say, i needed a car. Something cheap reliable, and good on gas. After a couple weeks of searching, i ran across a really nice 1996 Chevy Cavalier 2 door and nice red paint. Kinda the car that most 16 year olds want right? Well anyway, it ...

Pros: Haven't had any problems with it, other than the basic maintenance. Cons: It's not a Corvette, but what are you going to do? The Bottom Line: A nice, sub medium-sized car. Runs without a problem, good gas mileage (only need to fill up once every two weeks and sometimes longer), no worries.
Ah the joy of the Cavalier. This is, actually, my second Cavalier. I had once owned an '89 till arou ...

Pros: 2-dr has sporty look. Cons: A fair bit of road noise. The Bottom Line: All in all, really quite a good car.
The 1996 Chevorlet Cavalier is all in all quite a good car. The only problem I found with mine, is there seems to be a fair bit of road noise. Also, I've found highway mileage is not all that good, and city driving is only satisfactory. It is quite...

Pros: Looks great, drives great, feels bigger than it is Cons: ABS seems strange, ignition problems, bad rear shock bushings The Bottom Line: Probably the best looking and most reliable car I've ever owned.
I bought mine in Feb. of '98 and all in all I'd have to say it has been a great little car and I would probably buy another one. The looks are what drew me to it initially, but after test-driving it and seeing how well it handled and feeling the pep of...

Pros: Low basic maintenance, good price, a lot of features for the money Cons: some problems can be pricey! many rattles, can be uncomfortable The Bottom Line: Good car if you trade in every three years. Some repairs can be expensive, but maintence costs relatively low.
I researched for about six months before I purchased my 1996 Chevy Cavalier LS sedan. I compared price, styling, performance, equipment, and options with the Dodge Neon, Honda Civic, Saturn Sedan & Coupe, Ford Escort, and the Geo Prizm. Choosing the ...

Pros: Good gas mileage, nice size. Cons: One of my Cavaliers totally died at 85,000 miles. Flemsy seats, cheap parts on interior. The Bottom Line: I wouldn't call one out of two a good success rate and therefore do not recommend the 96 Cavalier to anyone who is looking to buy a used car.
In 1996 my mother bought a new Cavalier. It was a great car and she seemed very happy with it, so the next year when I needed to buy a car, I bought the 96 Cavalier as well. Mine was a program car and had 15,000 miles on it at the time of purchase. It...

Pros: Safety features, mileage, sleek design, cheap. Cons: Engine, cheap. The Bottom Line: Bottom line: Great for your teen-ager. Especially for the safety aspects. If you have more money to spend you might want to upgrade.
If you need an inexpensive, safe, first car, look no further than a Cavalier. I owned one for 4 years. I think it looks better than most inexpensive cars, but comes with more for your money. Standard airbags and little things such as automatically...

My Cavalier was used when I bought it. I bought it two years old, and it was in great shape. It had about 30,000 miles on it at the time, and it now has 70,000 or more. I wanted a car that looked stylish, but I also wanted a car good on...

Well I drove my last cavalier (a 92 model) into the back of a truck, so it was time to get another car. thought I would try a Subaru, but they were a little pricey. while on the lot I spotted a 96 cavalier of bright Blue. Having been so lucky with my...
