Pros: Doors lock automatically. Has a feeling of luxury. Cons: Many trips to the shop see opinion The Bottom Line: Nice luxury car with all the bells, but try another year. So many problems that it is unreal
This van was given to us as a gift from my husbands mother after his father died. He bought it new along with all the amenities that come with a luxury vehicle. It is a 1996 Chrysler Town and Country LXI van.
This van...

Pros: versatle, reliable, all day comfortable, elegant do everything family vehicle Cons: Weak transmissions, top heavy handling. The Bottom Line: The perfect do everything family vehicle, dont let SUV owners dupe you into thinking otherwise!
My wife and I purchased our 1996 Chrysler T&C LXi about a month after our 2nd child was born, (April 2000) and we decided we wanted more room then my 91 Jeep Cherokee provided, (We kept the Jeep as a ski car). We had just started a real estate ...

Pros: Great styling, very comfortable ride... Cons: Bad Reputation!!!
Well we did it. Last weekend the spouse and I bought a new, used car from the Carmax man. Up to this point we had two cars, but what we really needed was a car and a mini-van or SUV, but given the price of gasoline of late, the later suddenly seemed...

Pros: Styling and sedan like ride Cons: poor reliability and frequent repairs
We bought this car because it was the best looking and riding of the minivans. It still is, when it is running. In the first 3 years it broke down and left my wife stranded 5 different times. Once in the middle of the Mojave desert in June. It has...

Pros: Outstanding ride comfort and options Cons: Gas mileage could be better but average for class
Recently I had a minivan adVenture. Chevrolet has been my vehicle of choice for many years. Chevrolet sent me $40 to test drive one of their new vehicles. But today I am driving a 1996 Chrysler Town and Country.
The town and country, although...

Pros: Comfortable and well equipped Cons: Not 100% reliable
I got this, my first minivan, over 2 years ago. It was the last day of the month and the dealership wanted to improve their numbers, so they gave me a very good price. We were actually planning to get a new Voyager or Caravan but were tempted by the...

Pros: Very plush, loaded with options, leather looks upscale Cons: Problems with Transmission and electrical system has failed, doors are easily unaligned which makes them jiggle during operation
We bought our Used 1996 Town and Country 2 years ago. We have been happy with the comfort and the luxury the van offers. About 55K miles have been put on it to bring it to 93K miles.
We have just had the Transmission Overhauled at 93K miles....

Pros: Looks and Comfort Cons: You may not actually be able to drive it, but you can sit in it. The Bottom Line: This van is unsafe, unreliable, and not worth it. Buy anything else.
I bought my 96 T&C LXI in 99 with 63K miles on it. Since then we have put only 33K miles on it and have had to spend about 3K in maintenance. Most recently the rear main seal went out, which ruined the crankshaft. This was a $1500 repair. Prior to...

Pros: It looks pretty in the junkyard Cons: Worst minivan on the market. No wonder Chrysler's in trouble The Bottom Line: Avoid at all costs! If someone is selling one, it's because they know it's a lemon.
The biggest mistake I ever made was being lured in by the good looks of the Chrysler Town and Country (our son quickly
nicknamed it the "Town and Crappy"). We had been satisfied
with our 1991 Toyota Previa and needed a second minivan when

Pros: Handling, performance, comfort, styling..all the power options Cons: Gas mileage isn't the best, be forewarned of a potentially expensive windshield wiper problem The Bottom Line: I'd recommend this van to anyone who wants the ultimate luxury van with all the options
I've always been a big fan of Chrysler products. Ever since I drove my parents 91 T&C, I've been sold. Since then I've bought 2 Chrysler T&C vans. A 2003 LX I sold and bought a 96 LXI in April. I started a cleaning business and wanted something with ...

Pros: size Cons: too many problems to list.
I bought this vehicle because of the larger size and what I was told about the Corp. and dealership service. Ever since the sixth month of leasing this vehicle we have had problems. Most recently the transmission, water pump, catalytic converter, head,...

Pros: Quiet, comfortable seats, roomy, drives and handles well, great sound system Cons: Reliability, fuel consumption, flimsiness of construction The Bottom Line: If you want a really comfortable minivan and can buy it cheap enough to cover the repairs, get one.
I bought this van from a friend in Oct 2001 after my beloved Ford Aerostar was written off in an accident. My wife LOVES this van and even though I gnaw my teeth at night waiting for a major repair job to come she would rather fix it than replace it....

Pros: Most attractive minivan Cons: Poorly constructed
I bought a new 1996 Town and Country, loaded with all the options. I even bought the towing package, though I don't own a boat or trailer, thinking that the transmission cooler would add life to the vehicle. I liked the styling and the gadgets - the...

Pros: Comfort, reliability, maneuverability Cons: gas mileage, tilting seat in the middle row
I graduated from a full size station wagon to a minivan five years ago. When I began shopping around, everyone said that once I drove a minivan I
would love it. I had my doubts, but after my first road trip, I loved the driving experience and...

Pros: A surprisingly comfortable and quiet ride - easy to drive - feels like a luxury car Cons: wipers move randomly - possible short but we noticed this in other Chrysler cars. Brakes are good, but could use improvement.
In 1996 I needed a second vehicle. I had a 4 door sedan and wanted something larger. I looked at SUV's but found them to be more like trucks with limited cargo space and in some instances very uncomfortable. I am tall (6'4) and need amble leg and head...
