Pros: Stands up to heavy use
Cons: Small rear seat, a bit awkward in the parking lot

My roommate, Tim, came home late Wednesday night to tell me of the untimely passing of his 1986 Civic. It seems the camshaft had disintegrated mid-turn, and the rest of the engine went with it. The estimate came back yesterday at $3000 for a new...

Pros: Affordable, comfortable, sleek
Cons: less amenities, acceleration

I drive around my dad's 1996 Nissan Altima, and we both agree it as an amazing car. The best advantage to this model is the price. My dad got it used for $10,000. While most cars are so expensive these days, this baby new goes for as low as $ 15,000....

Pros: Affordable, no malfunctions, roomy
Cons: none

My blue 1996 Nissan Altima is my first car. Granted I was driving other cars for about a year, this is the first car that I am paying for and can don't have to ask anyone to borrow, and I am very happy with my decision. The car is very roomy, and there...

Pros: style, color, space, features
Cons: Nissan Corporation being uncooperative

I bought this vehicle because I received advice from many of my friends, that Nissan makes good cars. So in January 1997, I purchased a used Nissan with 7,000 miles for $17,600. I love my vehicle for its color (champagne), and body style. It is very...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Looks Good, Nice Interior, Comfortable, Pretty Smooth Ride.
Cons: Slow acceleration, Slips in the rain a bit.

As a new driver, this was my first car. All my driving experiences, thanks to my parents, had been of upper-class luxury cars so my expectations were high. It's a good looking car, and the interior is not bad either. It gets pretty good miles per...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: nice accelaration, solid reliability, value, nice interior finish/equipment, nice overdrive system, great braking
Cons: turning radius, velour seats, small rear entry/seating, bumper caps prone to fading/chipping
The Bottom Line: Highly dependable. Fun to drive while not the prettiest creature alive. Comfortable for compact car. Good accelaration, smooth operation. Poor turning radius, marginal fuel economy, minimal design flaws. Excellent value.

Having sold Nissan marine products for many years, I came to love Nissan's performance and reliability. In early 1999, I purchased a used (clean) Nissan Altima GXE. I bought it from a reputable local car dealer and purchased a 4 year extended warranty...

I purchased a 1996 Nissan Altima GXE and it was the best investment I could have made in a new car. It has turned out to be one of the most reliable cars I have ever driven. It is a four-door sedan with air bags for both driver and passenger. I...

I was given my Altima from a family friend. When I recieved the car, it already had 98K miles on it and it was 7 years old. The previous owner had hit a deer in this car, slid off of the road into a mailbox, so needless to say this car has had many ...

Cons: Mechanical issues arise around 100k miles
The Bottom Line: Nissan took my dream car and made it die after 50k miles.

I have loved the body style, engine and Nissan in general, which is why I chose the 1996 Altima. I received the car with about 80k miles on it. I know Nissans are good for around 200k, so I thought. The car has already been to the shop for motormounts...

Mar 13 '00

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 1.0 Recommended: No

Pros: I don't have the car anymore
Cons: I didn't use the lemon law to get my money back

In 1996, I was looking to buy a new car that would last for the next 7-10 years. That's not expecting a lot since I drive about 10K a year.

J.D. Power Associates rated the Altima... "Best Initial Deal". And to be quite honest, I...
