Pros: Price, economy, durability Cons: Bland, boring, not passenger friendly The Bottom Line: Good utilitarian runabout with a nice price. If kept up they will last for years.
Plymouth NEON, The Reliant’s sexier little sister. I won’t spend any time on going over how the Neon drives, its specifications or any of the other behind the wheel information we like to go over in most reviews. There are fortunately already ...

Pros: Affordable, good gas mileage Cons: Squeaky brakes, has a 'plasticy' feel
I purchased a used two-door Dodge Neon with automatic transmission about 2 years ago. I have been fairly happy with it, although it has had a few minor problems. The engine is an I4, it has a wide wheel base, and has about average pickup. I bought it...

Pros: Roomy interior, handling in good weather Cons: Blind spots, engine, brake noise, handling in bad weather, door windows, The Bottom Line: Do not purchase this car unless you are very good friends with a Chrysler service manager. Expensive repairs are made repeatedly on this vehicle.
This is my first opinion on this site, so please, pardon my errors. I purchased the car brand new in May, 1996. I also purchased a 100,000 mile, 7 year warranty for $600.00. The company that backed the warranty paid out over $2,000.00 on my car ...

Pros: Price, gas mileage, responsive handling, fun little car Cons: Not built to last forever (or even 100k miles)
I bought my 1996 Neon Sport brand new--my first new car, in fact. I didn't want to spend much money, and this was the cheapest Chrysler product I could find (gotta go where you get the family discount, right?)
I decided on a black 4-door DOHC with...

Pros: Affordable!!! Great gas mileage. Low maintenance. Roomy interior in the front seat. Dependable. Cons: Aside from my door ajar/dome light/driver's side door tragedy I can't think of any, except the location of the vent on the dashboard.
In 1996 I was trying to make more of my life by going to college. I had to commute to North Adams State College in Massachusetts daily with a 1984 Jetta that I obtained free of charge because it NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION (and a WHOLE lot of other things...

Pros: The radio works Cons: bad, no make that terrible engine!
We bought our 1996 Plymouth Neon in August of 1996. We do still currently have the car, but only because we can't afford to buy another one.
This car has been nothing but trouble for us from the very beginning. In the 4 years that we've...

Pros: Afforable Cons: It almost killed me.
By creating the Neon, lowly Chrysler has sunk even lower. The Neon is perhaps the worst compact car I have ever been in. The seats actually HURT. My friends and family noted this within the first ten minutes of riding in it. A horrible stinging...

Pros: Stylish, peppy, safe, relatively reliable, good mileage, great value Cons: gasket, transmission, other minor problems The Bottom Line: This is a good car for you (other than the gasket)so long as you maintain it well. A great value!
I bought my white, two door Neon when my prior car, a 1994 Dodge Shadow, was totalled in an accident. The Shadow was just a terrific car for me--one that gave me very few problems in its 147,000 miles of service. As I am a fan of Chrysler brand products ...

Pros: I like the way it handles.
Great paint, no rust anywhere (Midwest)
Cons: I wish it had an Overdrive transmission. The Bottom Line: I'd buy another one for either of my kids.
Well after 8 years, and 145,000 miles of driving it is time for me to get rid of the,4 door, Automatic, Neon. It will be missed. Great gas mileage 28mpg with AC on, and 32 without it on the highway - slightly less in town. Nothing major wrong, I just ...

In the summer of 1996, my father and I purchased a brand new 1996 Plymouth Neon. It was a beautiful Strawberry Red Color. We loved it. We had our previous car for almost 12 years and it was time for a new one. Unfortunately, our beautiful new car was in...

Pros: cheap, good gas mileage Cons: unreliable, major mechanical defects The Bottom Line: Save yourself the heartache and buy a vehicle not affiliated with Chrysler.
I purchased my strawberry red Neon Highline from a used car dealer in Indiana in November 1999. It had 36,000 miles on it and two previous owners. The purchase price was $6,000. This being the first car I purchased on my own, I thought I was getting a...

Pros: economical, good gas mileage Cons: paint peeling, bad wiring The Bottom Line: I would stay away from a '96 judging by the problems I've had with it, though every car is different.
By the time I was 19 I was getting a little tired of driving my Dad's old car, I decided I wanted a car of my own. And with being so easily drawn to "fun" looking cars I went with a Plymouth Neon because it said "Hi!" and because it wasn't too pricy. A...

Pros: Price, Decent Sized interior Cons: No Power, Very Unreliable, Engine Design is horrible The Bottom Line: Overall, the Plymouth Neon is one of the worst cars I have ever seen or driven surpassed only by the Suzuki Swift.
The 1996 Plymouth Neon is by far one of the worst cars I have ever seen or driven. Luckily I don't own one, but unfortunately my girlfriend does. Before I get into the specs of the neon let me tell you a little story of what you should expect...

Pros: Cheap first car, decent gas mileage Cons: Chrysler vehicles are deathtraps The Bottom Line: Don't buy Chrysler vehicles. "It is wiser to a $5 pair of socks that will last 5 years than a $2 pair of socks that will last six months."
My 1996 Plymouth Neon was the first vehicle I bought out of college. I purchase the vehicle new, co-signed with my father in the Chicago area, and drove it down to Dallas, Texas to room with my friend and look for a job. All appeared to be good in the...
