Pros: Great gas mileage, roomy truck Cons: not good for a family car at all The Bottom Line: I only recommend this car if you have one kid or less. This car is a good investment seeing as how the price of gas is skyrocketing.
These are cute and very sporty little cars. I owned a 1994 model but my sister has owned two of these as I said in my last review. Both of the ones she has owned have been two door cars. She wouldn't have anything else. She was single at the time and ...

Pros: Price, transmission, reliability, efficiency, power Cons: power, cheap interior, small interior The Bottom Line: I would recommend this car to anyone buying a first car or parents that have children that have their own cars.
I finally got my Driver's license back in April and I needed a car. Not just any car, I needed a good car. I needed something that was cheap, reliable and efficient. I pretty much got everything I was looking for. The 1997 Cavalier LS almost fits that ...

Pros: 2.2 liter engine (vroom!), very reliable, good in snow, inexpensive, fun to drive Cons: feels cheap in some areas (trim, interior, anti-lock brakes), much road/wind noise The Bottom Line: If you don't have a lot of money to spend, but you want something zippy, reliable and with safety features like anti-lock breaks and airbags, check out the Cavalier.
. . . it's been a reliable, trouble-free car for me. I bought a used 1997 Cavalier as my first car. It was one year old with 14,000 miles when I got it, and I've had it over six years and put close to 50,000 miles on it. During that time, it's needed ...

Pros: Reliability, Large Trunk for a Compact, Effective Air Conditioning, Value Cons: Fuel Economy, Interior and Exterior Fit & Finish, Interior Space, Mechanical Refinement The Bottom Line: It's not perfect or overly refined, but it's a good value, and it's bulletproof, something that makes up for its quibbles. Recommended.
My Dahlia Blue Chevrolet Cavalier Sedan, with 104'000KM, was purchased new in February 1997 from a local Chevrolet,Oldsmobile,Cadillac Dealer, and has been with me ever since. It is the Base Sedan model, so no lavish appointments but it'll get you from ...

Pros: Reliable, Front Wheel drive, fold down rear seat, decent bang for buck Cons: gas tank size The Bottom Line: I would recommend this to students and first time car owners as it is less expensive yet is still a nice handling, sporty looking car.
I own a used 1997 Chevrolet 1997 Cavalier Rally Sport with about 42000 miles on it. After my previous car died, a 1985 Toyota Tercel Hatchback with 200K miles on it, I was desparate to find a cheap reliable car that didn't need a lot of maintanance....

Pros: good looking, reliable, and inexpensive Cons: visibility while backing up
For the past few months I have owned a 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier 4 door base model, given to me by my sister. She had bought the car new and over the past 3 years she had only managed to put on 20,000 miles. As you can imagine I jumped at the opportunity...

Pros: Good looks, dirt cheap, good gas mileage, ABS brakes Cons: Rear seats are cramped, no rear wiper, manual transmission is not the best around The Bottom Line: Can be a good value as a used car. You can get a fairly recent model on a tight budget. Don't pay too much for it though.
When my 1989 Chevrolet cavalier started burning oil in late 2000, I knew it was time to retire it, so I started looking for a new vehicle before winter arrived. I'm still a student, and I really only wanted a vehicle to keep until I graduate as an...

Pros: Good gas mileage; lots of trunk space Cons: ages faster than a car should The Bottom Line: A decent car when it's new, but the way it's been aging has made me want to find a new car as soon as possible.
I've had my 1997 Chevy Cavalier since it was new, and although it's driven from Kansas to Dallas multiple times, and has even endured a trip to California and back, I've only managed to put 36,000 miles on it. Most cars with this amount of mileage still...

My first car ever was an 85 Chevy Cavalier. I had never driven a 5 speed and of course this one was a 5 speed. We bought it used from a cousin who owned a used car lot. This was the best car ever! I really put it thru hard times just learning how to...

Pros: good gas mileage, sporty shape, reliable Cons: airbag recall, engine problem, squeaks
For my sixteenth birthday I got a 1997, emerald green, 2-door Cavalier. I loved it! We went everywhere together. It had a CD player and cruise control so I was set to go. It was a sharp, inexpensive car that got me where I needed to go. It got...

Pros: Great gas mileage, lots of kick. Cons: The "boot" is more of a pain than it is worth. The Bottom Line: It is great on gas, performance and looks, and offers all the safety and kick of a larger car.
Recently my husband and I spoiled ourselves by purchasing a used 1997 Chevy Cavalier Convertible. We had talked for some time about getting a convertible in the future, but when we went out looking just for fun and ran across the great deal on this...

I bought a Chevy Cavalier in 1997, and after year #3 I still love it! At that time I only had 1 child, and it was very spacious, now I have 2 children and still have alot of leg room, and comfort for long trips in the car. The price we paid for the...

Pros: Cozy, rides nice, nice sized trunk Cons: too many faults for a new car
We have a 1997 Cavalier and it has been nothing but garbage since we bought it. We had a problem with our windshield wipers that took GM over 2 years to fix. We also had faulty air bags that we were never even told about. The airbags in our car could...

In October 1996, I bought a new '97 metallic green 2-door Cavalier, "Rally Sport" model. 3 1/2 years later, I am still as happy with the car as the day I bought it. I have about 32,000 miles on it and the car still runs as good as it did when...

Pros: ummm, it's a means of transportation? Cons: nothing works properly, including the so-called 'safety' features.
We have a 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier, that we bought new. We were expecting our first child and needed to replace the unreliable old clunker we'd been driving. We thought we were getting a very reliable, very safe car....but we were wrong.
Almost...
