Pros: Good ride, relatively good gas mileage, spacious interior, liked the radio. Cons: Unreliable, expensive repairs, poorly engineered with the gasket issue, lack of factory support. The Bottom Line: Don't let a cheap price con you into buying this, as you'll ultimately pay a lot!
My Lumina LS was a decent car when it wasn't breaking down on me. It is a quiet, smooth riding car that has room for 5 average size adults. Gas mileage of 24-30 mpg was also decent for this size vehicle. It was a good car for our family for about 5 ...

Pros: Tough, Roomy, Good traction, Good Price, Very Reliable Cons: Battery Location, Interior Issues, Head Lights wont turn off
The Bottom Line: It is a very tough car that can take a beating. The car itself is plain an simple a nice ride to cruise with.
I bout this car to replace a 2000 Dodge Intrepid (Which lasted 2 months, but thats another review) When i first got the car i wasn't the nicest person to her, of course this has now changed. I gave the car a brutal test, even got a little air with the ...

Pros: Power,
Large Trunk,
Large Interior Cons: Cupholder in front of Radio,
Column Granny Shifter,
Cooling System The Bottom Line: Very outdated in appearance and medium-low reliability
Overall: The car is nice and roomy, lots of space. Although I see numerous complaints with different years of Luminas regarding bench seats, when I got mine it was outfitted with Recaro bucket seats up front (see "my experience"). Reliability pretty ...

Pros: It's a safe car (George Carlin fans will appreciate). Cons: Cast iron block + Cast Aluminium head + cold weather = head gasket failure. The Bottom Line: The engine might survive in a warm climate or if you drive it like a granny but it can't take extreme temperature changes.
Purchased this LS trim level model in late 99 with 74000km (46000 miles) on it. In Jan/Feb I noticed it running rough before it warmed up and that it was eating coolant. Typical intake manifold gasket leak. Seemed OK for the warmer months and let it ...

Pros: Looks good, comfortable, good price for luxury features on LTZ. Cons: Costly repairs, no CD standard. The Bottom Line: Recommend for anyone wanting lots of features normally available only on luxury cars but at a much lower price.
I bought this car, black LTZ, nice leather interior, everything almost perfect with 95K 18 months ago for $4200. I've since put about $2000 in repairs, so that's about $100 a month plus some inconvenience. If you can stand a few breakdowns, I suppose ...

Pros: A big, safe car. Roomy, good mpg. Cons: Intake manifold gaskets last a short time and then you're out 600 bucks. The Bottom Line: Get this car only if checked out by a mechanic you trust and pressure test the cooling system! These cars are not up to Japanese level quality.
The last time I updated my review was over three years ago. Since then, not much has gone wrong with the car. The radiator had to be rodded out as the dex-cool had turned into a thick gelatinous goo. Don't believe GM and their claims that ...

Pros: Great gas mileage, power, looks Cons: Leg room in front, headlights are always on The Bottom Line: Very nice to drive, great gas mileage
I drive a 1997 Chevy Lumina for work with a 6 cyl. engine. I have not found a better car on gas with this engine size. I can drive the thing for 200 miles state and get about 30 odd miles a gallon. I love the power this car has, but not the lack of...

My wife and I bought our 97 Lumina used as a Rental in '01. It is the Base model with the power windows upgrade. We bought it with 68K miles on it and paid 5300 bucks at auction (what a steel!!) In the 8K miles or so that we've put on it, its has been...

Pros: Bigger inside than it looks, soft over bumps Cons: Complete lack of style. Poor highway steering and performance. Bad seats and weak controls. The Bottom Line: Don't buy it. It looks so ugly people figure its worth half of its value. And my grandpa drove it before I did
The Chevy Lumina is the perfect grandpa car:
1. It can't go fast even if you were Jeff Gordon. It doesn't have a tachometer so you can't tell the engine's running at 4000rpm doing the speed limit on the highway.
2. The steering is...

Pros: Plenty of room, power, and trunk space. Very comfortable and economical. This car is reliable. Cons: Cup holders are in bad locations. The Bottom Line: This is a fantastic car for any person of any age. It is one of the best cars Chevrolet has made. I highly recommend the Lumina.
I bought this car in January of 2000. I was 21 years old. Not a typical car for a 21 year old. Great for me though. I have put about 60,000 miles on this car in only a year and a half and it has held up wonderfully! It is very comfortable and...

Pros: Very spacious, pretty peppy, large trunk & comfortable Cons: None The Bottom Line: This is a great family car. It is roomy, quiet, comfortable, safe & virtually trouble free.
My husband & I purchased our '97 Chevy Lumina about a year and a half ago. My parents also own a '97 Lumina and have for about 5 or 6 years now. We all think that they make wonderful cars.
Roominess:
It has a lot of room in both the...
