A great little pickup!

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Comfortable! Economical. Dependable. Fun to drive.
Cons: Can't carry a large load.
The Bottom Line: Great little light duty pickup. Rides like a car.

I bought my S-10 new in 1997. After back surgery and ongoing back problems I still needed a pickup, but comfort was a major consideration. In my job at the time I would often load up the back with tools and clothes, climb in, and drive for 700-800...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: 4.3L V6 is very torquey, decent ride, third door is nice
Cons: brakes
The Bottom Line: Better mileage than Dodge and better ride than Ford with more features at a lower price than the imports.

I've had my S10 now for nearly five years and it has been an excellent truck. Except for standard preventive maintenance, the truck has not had any work done on it. There were two recalls that were handled very quickly and professionally by the local...

The subject is the S10 chevy 4X4 truck to use 10on a mail route. I have had more troubles with this truck than any thing I have ever used. I bought the truck late in the evening, the next morning I noticed all the tires had bulge on the sidewalls so did...

Pros: Handling, reliability, inexpensive to own.

I own a 1997 Chevy S-10 2WD pickup, standard cab, sportside bed, the Super Sport edition. I am pleased to say that my many hours of research, scouring the ads, and test drives, paid off handsomely. I bought the vehicle in 2/99, when it had 51,000 ...

Best little truck on the road.

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: 19 MPG, smooth rider, comfy seats, roomy bed, has a decent 'giddy-up!'
Cons: Only seats 2, cornering, faded 'fake' bumper, manual locks and windows
The Bottom Line:

A great truck for a new driver or a more experienced one.

I bought my '97 this summer as my first vehicle for a chunk under $4,000 from a dealer who'd received it as a trade in for a Cadillac. It was in great shape, had a Rhino lined bed, and didn't smell of cigarette smoke, which was a definate plus. ...

The S-10 4x4 with a 4.3 is hard to beat.
by bubbaman42

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes
Pros: The 4.3 has plenty of power. The 4x4 works very good. It's well worth the money.
Cons: It could have a little better gas mileage. The gas gauge has had some trouble.
Me and my wife bought it used a few weeks ago.It had a few things go wrong but most of that was due to the previous owner.I think the previous owner was a college student who really didn't take good care of it.We know how teenagers are.We kind of fell in love with it the first time we saw it.It has a lift kit on it and bigger tires which kind of makes it look sporty. It's a great truck. The 4.3 has plenty of power and the 4x4 will come in handy this winter.I think it has as much power as the Ford F-150 we have which has a 5.0 in it.The S-10 has an automatic transmission in it. I don't like driving with a standard. The fuel economy could be a little but it is what we expected from it. We have a blazer with the same motor in it.Overall I would highly recommend the S-10 4x4. It is a great truck. I don't think we made a mistake buying it.
