OKay, I love my 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee don't get me wrong! It is great for a daily driver and a lot of room in the back lt;3 hahaha. It's a V8 but not too bad on gas ( compared to a lot of others) and all the time 4x4! This car has some power and I ... read more

Pros: Space, Hauling Cons: Unnecessary Huge Motor The Bottom Line: It tips over
The Jeep Cherokee is a nonsense vehicle. For starters it has 4 liters 6 cylinders motor that it doesn't need, its not even 4x4 why in the world it would need so much power. The whole vehicle doesn't make any sense when the rest of the SUV are using ... read more

Pros: Gas Mileage is better than our Rubicon, comfy comfy comfy! Cons: stupid gas tank takes fifty dollars to fill, even if it IS good mileage. The Bottom Line: BUY IT!!! But dear God do not chop it up...it is NOT a Wrangler!
I purchased "My Baby" back in 2003, and it was love at first sit (in the plush interior) and ecstacy the first time I beat some kid in a tuner off the line. Only in the last couple months have I had any trouble with it, but it seems that I can easily ... read more

Pros: Tears through snow and mud, fun to drive, great first car Cons: Gas mileage duhh, a little slow with the 4.0 L engine The Bottom Line: Buy this car! It is awesome. Reliable, and will get you through anything.
This is my first car, and I love it. This thing is a BEAST. It is like a tank in snow and mud. I take this thing offroading sometimes and it goes through 3 foot deep mud pits like nothin in 4 wheel drive. I live in Michigan, and it tears through snow ... read more

Pros: Social acceptance. Status. Prestige. Could off-road. Quiet at speed. Cons: Poor Fuel Economy. The Bottom Line: Good So Far. Bad Gas mileage and non peppy engine sad. Noise at slow turns in 4x4 mechanism?
Bought this vehicle used at a Ford dealership with 85,000. Quietest car at 80 mph with Michelins. The straight 6 cylinder 4.0 engine is a little sluggish (as expected) compared to any Japanese engine. There has a been a dime to quarter sized leak of ... read more

Pros: Very comfortable, lots of room and lots of features. Capable off-road. Cons: Sluggish acceleration, poor fuel economy. Repeated electrical problems have driven me nuts. The Bottom Line: Too many problems have spoiled what I thought would be a wonderful experience. I owe too much to sell it, and I would get killed on a trade-in.
I had my old car in for service when I saw it on the lot: a shiny silver 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited with 28,000 miles. Leather interior, power front seats, premium sound system, antitheft system, V8, full-time 4WD, the works. I asked a salesperson ... read more

I purchased my 1997 Jeep Cherokee Sport about 2 years ago at 88000 miles and have very little to complain about. It has gotten me cross country about 6 times and has never even given me a moan even with the abuse of not taking it to get the recommended ... read more

Pros: Great handling for an SUV, manual gets good gas mileage, just a lovely car offroad. Cons: Crappy service from Jeep dealership, lots of minor problems, squeaky and noisy interior. The Bottom Line: I recommend this car. It's obviously not built like a sedan or a coupe, but as an SUV it's one of the best.
I bought a 1997 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4x4 (manual transmission) with tinted windows, A/C, cassette player and a roof rack (no power accessories such as seats, windows, door locks, etc.) in the summer of '97. I got it for a great price and I even learned ... read more

Pros: Power, comfort, sure-footedness. Not too expensive for what you get. Cons: Excessive mechanical problems relative to low mileage. The Bottom Line: Not a keeper. If you like to drive your cars into the ground as Tom and Ray recommend, look elsewhere.
I was a tad surprised to learn this week that my '97 GC Laredo V8 would need $2100 worth of repair work to pass the state inspection. "C'mon, a 97"? I hear you ask. yes, but a babied '97 creampuff with a mere 39,500 miles on the clock. (Hey, I like to ... read more

Pros: Very comfortable interior, roomy, powerful, strong air conditioning, nice factory towing package. Cons: Drinks gas (like other V8 SUV's), odd ergonomics, side-to-side rocking may annoy some. The Bottom Line: If you need the power or towing capability and understand that it drinks gas and handles like an SUV then it will be exactly what you expect.
My Jeep Grand Cherokee is the 1997 model year with the relatively rare V8 / 2 Wheel Drive option (first available in 1997). I purchased this combination for several reasons: 1) I do not live in a cold climate and will not need to drive in the snow or ... read more

Pros: Comfortable, roomy, many features Cons: jerky transmission, no way to hide cargo The Bottom Line: Good Car, Thumbs up
