Pros: Nice looking exterior, three rows can cart a lot of people around Cons: Transmission problems, cheap interior, lack of standard features (even with SE model) The Bottom Line: I wouldn't recommend a car, at least of this model year (I can't speak for any others), because of all the transmission horror stories I've heard.
My mom bought a purple 1997 Plymouth Voyager SE in Deep Amethyst Pearl about 7 years back. 6 of those years, it has gone completely unused, because the transmission one day just stopped "clicking" to get the van moving. I mean, it felt like (in ... read more

Pros: dual sliding doors, very powerful engine, smooth ride, great for families Cons: very poorly lit headlights, changing air filter is impossible, air bag The Bottom Line: Buy used one that's had bugs worked out of it. Make sure previous owner gives you all paperwork so you can verify repairs/maintenance.
Bought our '97 from the first owner with 40K on it for $9K. Put new Michelin X1's all around and new front Monroe Sensatrac struts. Also needed new battery. Orig. owners did maintenance by the book so the van runs great.
This is our first van ... read more

Pros: Roomy "cockpit", comfy seats, good view, nice-looking, handles well, 7 passengers, not an SUV. Cons: Noisy engine and suspension, too little power for climbing hills, not an SUV. The Bottom Line: I would recommend a Voyager to anyone, but I would make sure that it was well-cared for by its previous owners. Make sure it is mechanically sound.
We bought our Voyager about 3 months ago. My wife was in our home town, about a 6-hour drive away, for her baby shower. We were expecting our fourth. We really needed a van, because our Corsica was too small when we had our third child.

Pros: Lots of room, only minivan with dual sliding doors at the time. Cons: Amount of repairs, brakes, electrical system, sliding doors, weight of removable seats. The Bottom Line: Unless you buy this van from a reliable source and have a good relationship with your local Dealer Service Department I'd avoid this van like the plague.
We bought our van brand new off the lot. Shortly thereafter the brakes began making loud squealing noises which Chrysler explained with a Service Bulletin explaining that this is common with all their models due to the type of brake pad used. Well we ... read more

Pros: nice looking, comfortable Cons: gutless wonder, tranny problems already The Bottom Line: very comfortable to drive and sit in, no storage space at all, easy to remove seats...but I would not recommend this van to anybody
We walked onto the lot planning on buying hubby a new truck and drove away in a new-to-us '97 Voyager. I was in heaven as the van I had, an '89 Voyager, smoked very bad. I showed off this van to all of my friends....I was so proud. The color and comfort ... read more

We purchased our 1997 Plymouth Grand Voyager in July of 1999. We have always driven larger cars (Dodge Dynasty, Oldsmobile 88) and we were getting ready to take a vacation to visit family who lived over 2,000 miles away. We currently owned a Dodge ... read more

Pros: roomy, good value, comfortable seats Cons: poor quality paint, cheap plasticy interior on base models
My 70 year old grandparents own a 1998 Plymouth Voyager. The room, seats, and overall driving experience are good for a short wheel base van. The 3.0 litre SOHC mitsubishi designed V6 is very loud, but performs decently for a heavy minivan. It ... read more
