Pros: Standard ABS brakes, Daylight Running Lamps, and sporty look Cons: Anti-theft deterrent
Back in 1997, I was looking for a new car that was half-way sporty looking and reliable. I visited every dealer in town only to be ignored or over-pressured. Finally, I wound up at Pontiac. At first I was a little reluctant to even take a look at any of...

Pros: Styling, 2.4L engine Cons: Styling, 2.4L AND 2.2L engine, transmission, suspension, chassis, etc.. The Bottom Line: If you have one in working condition, GET RID OF IT AS A TRADE IN OR PRIVATE SELLER while you still can.
I got my car new when I was 16 years old. On paper, it looked wonderful. 150hp, 155 ft-lb of torque, with a 5 spd transmission. I broke the engine in correctly, and really enjoyed it. I kept the car completely stock for about the first 30,000 miles....

Pros: Was a great inexpensive car Cons: Until the freak accident happened
My 1997 Pontiac Sunfire Sedan is gone, and nobody has an explanation for this. I first purchased my Sunfire at a local Pontiac dealer that was having an end of the year close out sale. I looked over the car and loved the price and the features. The car...

Pros: Small, yet roomy, looks and runs great, many options, still affordable Cons: Small rear window, leaks, mysterious rattles
In 1998, I had to say goodbye to the old Mustang that had been my pal for over 3 years. When my parents drove by the car lot and saw my Sweetpea, they called me right away to see if I would like to go test drive it. I wanted a small, sporty car, but also...

Pros: there are no pros to this car / Selling car soon Cons: everything
I would hope that if you are in the market for a new automobile, you take it in serious consideration before you purchase a 1997 Pontiac Sunfire. I have had problems with mine since I drove it off the lot. I have taken the car into the shop almost once a...

Well, not exactly but it has gotten me this far! I own a 1997 Pontiac Sunfire and must write an epinion on it for everyone to see.
First off let me tell you that I am only going to explain to you the interior and durability of this car. I...

Pros: Acceleration, fun to drive, reliable Cons: Safety, fuel economy, headroom, handling
I bought my 97 Sunfire new to replace my beloved 87 Honda Accord, which I'd driven for 10 years. Mine is a 5-speed SE coupe, but I opted for the larger 2.4 liter engine that comes standard on the GT. I wanted better acceleration than the standard 2.2...

Pros: Strong Engine, Sporty Appearance, Inexpensive Cons: Not Reliable The Bottom Line: There are beter alternatives to the General Motors Pontiac Sunfire/Chevrolet Cavalier. The Sunfire/Cavalier is a very dated design and does not compete with anything else on the market anymore.
I factory ordered a new 1997 Pontiac Sunfire and took delivery on 2/27/97. I bought this vehicle because of the low cost of purchasing and financing: I got it for $100 over invoice and 3.9% GMAC financing. I love the way the optional big four ...

Pros: Sporty, fast, and AFFORDABLE Cons: Poor rearward visibility
The Pontiac Sunfire was the first car I had ever really liked the look of.
The front headlights and rear-fascia gave it an aggressive, sporty appearance that few cars in its class have.
Sporting a 125HP 2.2l 4-cylinder engine, my Sunfire...

Pros: small Cons: just about everything
I have a 1997 Pontiac Sunfire GT Coupe that I bought brand new. I had previously owned a Grand Am that I loved, so I figured that since the Sunfire was also a Pontiac then it would be a good car too. WRONG! I don't know if it is just bad luck or what,...

Pros: Sporty, Dependable, Cons: none for me
I have sat here tonight and read EVERYONE'S reviews, so now I feel I must give mine, and tell my story. My very first car when I turned 16 was a 1976 souped up Black Chevy Camaro with an Edlebrock racing engine. I loved that car more than life itself....

Pros: Good style, reasonable price Cons: Poor powertrain (valves, 5 speed)
I bought my 1997 Sunfire SE in early 1998. It had about 40,000KM (about 25,000 miles) all highway, when I got it. It was in very good shape and highly maintained. I enjoyed the style of it quite a lot...but wanted the GT for the 2.4L dual cam...

Pros: great ride, good gas mileage Cons: none
I own a 97 Pontiac Sunfire. With my kids now grown I decided that I no longer needed to drive the monster van that I had and I just loved the looks of this car. It has been the most reliable auto that I've owned to date. I drive round trip 110 miles a...

Pros: good car Cons: gas cap and engine light
Pontiacs '97 Sunfire with a 2.4 liter engine is the engine of choice. Believe me I know, I rented a Sunfire while in Florida with the smaller engine and I could tell a major difference in power. I missed my '97 sunfire in comparison.
The drawback...
