Pros: All-wheel-drive capability, go-kart handling, overall quality, amazing reliability. Cons: Fuel efficiency, style (for some), rear seat and cargo space, noise. The Bottom Line: Better than it's similarly-priced competition and a real deal compared to other AWD cars which are as well built and handle as well.
Our Impreza (a non-Outback wagon, automatic transmission, 2.2 litre engine) is my girlfriend's car, and I'm worried about this pairing. Not only does her affection for the little Subie sometimes rival her affection for yours truly, but Melissa also vows...

Pros: A real go-getter in snow or mud. Cons: Not much legroom in the back.
I was looking for 4 wheel drive, affordable, dependable transportation that could carry a little freight. The Subaru Outback Sport is a dream come true.
If you've ever had an older Suburu - maybe a Loyale from the 80s, you'll be amazed at the...

Pros: Excellent safety features Cons: nothing, really
I do not own a Subaru Outback, nor do I plan to, but the simple fact of the matter is I and four of my friends owe our lives to the safety features found in this vehicle.
It was a lazy summer afternoon in the middle of farm country. The sun...

Pros: Family size with performance feel Cons: none
The 2000 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport gives you the best of both worlds. This car is a four door with hatch back and gives plenty of room in the front or back seats. The back seats split 2/3 and 1/3 which allow you to place larger items in the...

Pros: handling, safety, styling, fun to drive Cons: doesn't hold more than 5 people
After 3 years of all-weather driving and use in the city (NY) and mountains (VT), the Subaru Impreza Wagon continues to impress.
We got this car for trips around NY city and up to Vermont year 'round. It has served us well, and is fun to...

Pros: Reliable, great performance, very solidly-built Cons: Gas mileage is a bit low because of the AWD The Bottom Line: A real blast to drive and utterly reliable. Whoopiee!
... you climb in and you never want to get out. :)
I adore my '97 Outback Sport. It's the first Subaru I've owned and now I know why everyone I know who owns one won't buy anything else. They're practically indestructible and really fun to...

Pros: Reliability and all wheel drive Cons: Common Subaru quirks get annoying. The Bottom Line: Perfect mix of rugged AWD but small car size and MPG.
I bought this car used about 6 years ago and have since racked the mileage up to about 165,000 miles. This car had very few problems (see below) and I was lazy on maintenance. Even though this car has full time all wheel drive, it still had a lot ...

Pros: AWD System, powerful, nice stereo, Very light maintenance needed. Cons: Cramped back seat, Brakes tend to get soft quicker than some cars.
If you are looking for a car that is sleek, powerful, inexpensive and reliable, I would suggest looking into buying a Subaru Impreza. I own a 1997 Impreza and this car has made me more than happy. It has a powerful Inline 4 cylinder engine the provides...

Pros: Overall amazing quality car. Cons: Can't think of a damn thing.
This car is great. The 2.2 liter engine provides amazing power and acceleration is amazing for this size car. The AWD (All Wheel Drive) is great for all sorts of weather conditions including driving like a maniac. Unfortunatly someone rearended me in traffic and caused $1500 worth in damage but the repair costs are average and this car is extremley safe. I currently have 195,000 on my car. Original transmission and engine. I have replaced the clutch once at 125,000 (wow) and have never had a serious problem since then. (Heat casing rattles at 130,000 miles since subaru encases the exhaust so densly, $20 to fix). THIS IS AN AMAZING CAR. Handles great, plenty of room for myself and im 6'4, and this can hold four adults comfortably, 5 with a bit of a squeeze in the middle. Plenty of trunk space for a car this size and great gas mileage.
