Pros: Seat heaters, good handling. Cons: Faulty electrical system, expensive and frequent repairs. The Bottom Line: Don't get it, hit or miss with quality of these cars!
I was really excited about the Jetta when I purchased it used. It was cute, handled well, and came at a decent price. However...I think this particular Jetta could only be described as a lemon. The first issue that came up was that the front ...

Pros: Suits my needs, powerful, safe, fun Cons: Compact, front cupholders, backseat space The Bottom Line: Pretty solid car, reliable and suitable for teens and adults-nothing luxurious, but a high end ride for price
*This may help or hurt my review, but Id first like to point out that Im YOUNG MAN writing about a typical feminine automobile. Its definitely rough, but its what Ive got to work with, and I really enjoy it. Since the beginning of my ...

Pros: Nimble and delicate handling, great HP/Torque band, looks, fun to drive, everything Cons: NOT for someone who: needs frou-frou things (cup holders), or has unrealistic expectations about automobiles. The Bottom Line: If you want a car that is a little out of the ordinary, want German engineering at an affordable price, and truly enjoy driving, this is the car for you.
This is a review for anyone on the fence and slightly discouraged by negative reviews they see about Volkswagen. I read them before buying my 97 Jetta GLX, had a minor hesitation, but took the plunge and I have never been happier. I haven't had my ...

Pros: Sporty good looks that to this day(11FEB2006)still make people turn their heads. Cons: Front cup holders, longevity of plastic interior trim, and my GLX's past owner! The Bottom Line: If you like it, go for it. Just be sure to check the miles and be prepared for sudden repairs after 80,000 miles.
To be honest I just bought the car because I liked the way design of the MKIII jettas. Most of the reviews that I read about it were from very displeased customers, but I wasn't detered! I did it, I bought my GLX with 85,360(she's @ +97,000 now) miles ...

I absolutely love my car. I have owned it for exactly one year with very few complaints. My Jetta is a GLS with the 2.0 and a 5 spd. manual. It is a joy to drive, and i love to let other people drive it just so they will feel the same joy i do. ...

Pros: Huge trunk, FAST, roomy, reliable & stylish Cons: Bad cupholders, side moldings fall off (nothing that double-sided heavy duty tape can't fix) The Bottom Line: Great, reliable car with room for friends & cargo. Easy to park! Beautiful car!
What can I say but that I love my '97 Jetta GLX VR6 w/5 speed tranny! It's fast, smooth, reliable, stylish..you name it. She keeps me warm when it's cold and cool when it's blistering hot (a thumbs up for the AC/Heating system). I bought the car ...

Pros: Roomy, Great mileage, dependable, nice looking. Cons: Still a smaller car, parts higher than American cars. The Bottom Line: I would definitely take one for a drive if I were looking at cars in this class.
I own several German made cars, and with gas hitting 2.25 per gallon, decided I needed something I could get better mileage in, and keep the daily miles off my other cars. I have owned a couple of Toyotas, a Mitsubishi, and a Subaru in the past 20 ...

Pros: tight handling, great reliability, great a/c, 30 mpg Cons: Door molding fell off ... The Bottom Line: Looking for a great used car? Get this car!!!
I have had this car since brand new. Other than oil changes, I have had to do nothing for it mechanically. The car has over 90,000 miles on it and still drives like new. I get anywhere from 27 - 30 miles per gallon. The A/C is powerful and so is the...

Pros: Good acceleration, Cute car, effective car alarm
Cons: See the body of my review... The Bottom Line: No, because of the problems that my mother has experience with her Jetta
My mother bought a 1997 Jetta, new. At first the car did very well. Then the problems started. First was her power sunroof that messed up. Either the motor or something electric was wrong with it, but it does have a pannle that u can take off and...

Pros: Great Car to Drive Cons: Always concerned it will break down The Bottom Line: Fun car to drive, very costly to maintain because of all of the repairs.
I bought a my white Jetta Trek in 1997. It has automatic transmission, and from the moment I drove it off the lot it seemed to have trouble shifting and tended to rev a lot. I have brought it to the dealer four times for this same problem and each time...

Pros: Seats (VW firm and driver's height adjustable) Cons: Slow like swimming in a sea of peanut butter The Bottom Line: Probably not quite as reliable but I'd still take the Jetta over any other car in its class, including the Honda Civic, on overall value.
I bought a Jetta GL new and have put about 60,000 miles on it. On the whole a pretty reliable car, though I have had a few problems with it.
1. Moonroof. While still under warranty I had to have the moonroof replaced and it's never been the...

Pros: VR6 has more torque than a pornstar on crank & makes Civic drivers salivate. Cons: If I ever find one it is too late, I'm already been brainwashed. The Bottom Line: 1)There is no substitute for power 2)If you want the Japanese driving experience you should maybe just rent Gung-Ho instead of buying one.
For 6 long years I drove Acura (clear my throat....Honda) autos, never knowing that a car was not supposed to have so much understeer that it made turning into a parking lot an adventure. Don't get me wrong, the car never broke or left me stranded, but...
