All-around solid car with minor quirks.

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Smooth and torquey engine, solid handling and dependability.
Cons: Few minor repairs as expected with all cars.
The Bottom Line: A solid, all-around car with a smooth engine, proven dependability and a joy to drive fast or slow.

I bought a 1998 BMW 328i approximately one year ago and have had pretty good luck so far. When I bought the car it had about 65k miles on it and I paid about $14k for it. To date I have had a few minor problems with the car but have been able to fix ...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Incredibly sporty, but still practical.
Cons: Expensive and not a good city car.

If you long for the handling of a world class sports car, yet need the practicality of a 4 seat car, the M3 is for you. I bought the newly released M3 convertible about one year ago and absolutely love it.

When looking for a new car I had...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Effortless Performance, Quality
Cons: I only have room for two in my garage!

The BMW M3 is perhaps the most desirable car I have ever driven. It combines good looks, vault-like build quality, and out-of this world performance in a way no other car available today can quite match. Yes, there are cars which accelerate more...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Smooth powerband, classic looks, attention to detail is astounding, extremely bright headlights for stock.
Cons: Insurance can be bad, maintenance is expensive, small things tend to go wrong.
The Bottom Line: If you're a car aficionado that can absorb the greater than average cost associated with owning an M3, buy it.

I was first introduced to the phenomena that is the BMW M3 back in 1994 on an overseas study tour in Taiwan. I first read an article about the E36 generation BMW M3 in Dakar Yellow and just fell in love at the sight of one parked at the base of a ski ...

A Cure for Midlife?

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Tight, accurate control
Cons: Can't carry the whole soccer team

For nearly two decades I've driven the likes of station wagons, various minivans and SUV's as I participated in the suburban ritual of carting my kids and their friends to those activities that will encourage them to succeed in life so they could one day...

No Competition

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 3.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: This stylish car gets alot of stares w/it's smooth ride
Cons: So-called Certified Pre-Owned warranty sucks!!!!
The Bottom Line: Don't go to Competition for a Pre-Owned car. They treat you like crap because of the BMW name.

I got your attention!!! Hopefully. I've owned this car since 3/02 @ 28k-financing through my credit union. Even though the carfax came back w/no problems & 1 previous owner, the service upon delivery sucks! I made my 1st service appt the day after it was...

1998 M3 Coupe

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 2.0 Recommended: No

Pros: Well Engineered, great performance, comfortable to drive
Cons: Poor dealer service, many electrical/electronic problem
The Bottom Line: Great performing car but had too many problems. BMW dealers and BMW USA have a lot to learn about customer satisfaction/service.

I leased this M3 (glad I didn't buy it!) and it was nothing but trouble from the day I picked it up. To make a long story short, it was in the shop for 23 days over the 2 1/2 year lease period.

The dealers (I went through two) had no clue what...

My Favorite Car

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes
Pros: Tight driving, high performance, easy parking, economical, handsome, low maintenance
Cons: None for me
My 328i was my favorite daily driver ever. The 1998 body style is very good looking and that adds a lot to the pleasure of owning this car. Driving the car is nice because the size fits well into traffic, you can pick a spot in the driving lane that serves you best. The car has great pick up and gets around 24 mpg. You can speed-up and brake to get into traffic spots that uncooperative drivers don't want you to have. The interior fits me very well and and I can reach almost every spot in the cab. Parking is a breeze because the car is smaller than average. Back seat room is adequate even for a grown up. I felt good taking my toddler with me because the car's performance allowed me to get to the safest spot on the road at all times. This was my second 3-series and I will gladly buy another one when such a car fits the family. By the way, repairs on my vehicle were almost nil, and I resold it for what I thought a very fair price.
