Pros: decent power, reliablity, nice features for a car in this class, great gas mileage Cons: average looks, back seats don't fold down The Bottom Line: If you are looking for a car good for everyday use, but provides the "fun to drive" factor than the Lumina LTZ is worth taking a look at.
Update: We just traded this car off today. It turned out to be a great car. When it was all said and done, the only major repair done after this review was written, was an AC condenser, had to be replaced. We had 126,800 miles on it when we traded ...

Pros: Fairly smooth ride, good amount of interior and trunk room Cons: Questionable steering, car-sick-inducing back seat, no folding back seats, average acceleration
I had been driving Luminas for the last five years or so because it was my company car and I had no choice. I recently left my job and finally was able to choose my own car and get rid of the 1998 Lumina I was driving (I bought a Subaru). I am very...

Pros: safety,price,durability,and style Cons: none
The Chevrolet Lumina is an awesome family car. With it's extras the Lumina could easily be a mothers "dream" car. But for me the most important thing a car could offer is safety. I owned a Chevy Lumina, and when I was hit in the rear end by a...

Pros: Strong powertrain, easy to maintain, very roomy, smooth ride, and very reliable Cons: Handling, but that's about it The Bottom Line: If you're looking for a reliable, inexpensive, and roomy car, look no further than the Chevy Lumina
I purchased a 1998 Lumina in August, 1999. I was the victim of a 1995 Ford Contour (by far one of the worst cars Ford made in the '90s) and I was desperate to get rid of it. The Lumina was hardly at the top of my shopping list...it just so happened my...

Pros: dependability, easily maintained, great performance Cons: I can not think of a thing.
In 1995, I bought a used Lumina Z34, for which I was extremely pleased with. Over the years it began to give me nickle and dime problems, only problem with that was, a Z34 nickle problem is major bucks! Compared to the every day sedan. I was putting...

3 years ago I was car shopping. Something we all usually love to do, but hate the prices and settling for something we really aren't happy with. Well, I was looking at SUVs at first. It just so happens that one Sunday, my husband and I drove past the...

I went down and test drove all the cars that I had gotten information on. I was starting to get frustrated with the whole car experience. This was until I came upon the right car. I went to the Chevrolet Dealership and told them what kind of car I was...

Pros: drives good good size Cons: a lot of little glitches
We purchased a 1998 Luminia last year. It was the worst mistake we could have made! The rear door panel came loose not once but twice! The trunk got jammed and wouldn't open (that's three trips to the dealer in less than 6 months) The fan motor has a...

Pros: Comfort, room, reliability Cons: Chevrolet stopped production on the car. The Bottom Line: If you can find one that has been regularly maintained, buy it. This is a great car and there won't be many left before long.
When my wife and I started looking for family cars in 2000, I was reluctant to give the Lumina a chance. Though I liked the room, its shape turned me off and I almost passed up the chance to own what has turned out to be the best car I've ever owned. ...

Pros: Reliable, Comes nicely loaded, sleek looking Cons: some Luminas are known for transmission problems The Bottom Line: An affordable car that offers a lot for the price.
My husband and I were in the market for a good family vehicle for me to drive, but we didn't have a lot of money to spend on a luxury vehicle. I still wanted to have a nice car with some decent features, so that put us in a bind - until we found the...

We've had this car for 2 years and so far it's been fairly impressive, especially considering the low cost of ownership. We have the LS model with almost every option available.
The biggest thing that made the Lumina appealing was its...

Pros: Nice size, decent gas mileage, good handling, quiet engine, low price. Cons: Slightly sluggish up steep hills(3.1L), engine seems to leak(or burn oil) slightly. The Bottom Line: It runs well and seems to be built sturdy. But be sure to keep an eye on its engine oil. It should be reliable if you do so.
I bought a new car in 1998 and it was a brand new Chevrolet Lumina. Since my family has been buying Chevy's for a long time, I decided to as well. For the Lumina's size and engine(V6), I thought it was a pretty good buy for only 17,000 dollars.

Pros: Roomy, drives good Cons: lots of problems with only little mileage
Originally, my husband and I bought a 1995 Lumina. It was a wonderful car until the transmission went out. It had over 90,000 miles on it, so I wasn't really that surprised when it went out. I even partly blamed it on my husband because he never had...

Pros: Lots of leg room Cons: No backseat cup holders
In April of 1999, I bought a 1998 Periwinkle blue Lumina from one of our Local Car Dealerships. I was "forced" to purchase a new car, because the car I was driving was falling apart before my very eyes. It was a tough fight, but my car lost. It...
