Pros: Wonderful car across the board. Cons: Some ergonomics issues, but mainly minor.
A comprehensive look at what makes the 1998 Intrepid a practical, outstanding vehicle.
My first new car purchase was a 1998 Dodge Intrepid sedan. In the past, I had owned or driven the likes of the 1986 Ford Escort, the 1978 Datsun...

Pros: Almost everything. The Intrepid saved my life. Read on. Cons: Gas The Bottom Line: Beware of cops and the additional service contracts through Chrysler.
I am saddened to report that the Intrepid has gone to the big car lot in the sky. 21 March 2002 was the night she sacrificed hers for mine. I was on a back road in rural Central Illinois when a deer ran out in front of me and I had to swerve. When I...

Pros: Highway comfort, price Cons: Big blind spots
I bought this car because I wanted a comfortable highway car. I looked at the usual list of cars (4cyl Camry, accord, malibu, altima), but bought the Intrepid because of its price and style.
I was skeptical at first, because of Chrysler's...

Pros: Comfort, Roomy, and Gas Mileage Cons: Outside Noise
The New Dodge Intrepid is a great family car. Coming from a family with three children it definately provides the qualities I anticipated. I love the fact that you have a deep truck, providing space for not only groceries, but sports equipment as well on...

Pros: Roomy, roomy, roomy. A/C kicks butt. Huge trunk. Great for car audio buffs. Cons: 2.7L not very reliable The Bottom Line: I love the car overall but I think I would stay away from the 2.7L's if you can or at least buy one from someone you know.
Well, I bought this car in January of 2002 with 77,000 miles on it. My very first impressions were as follows: -I felt the car had great power for only having a 2.7L and being as large as it is. -I thought it had a lot of road noise. ...

Pros: Beautiful body design. Incredibly comfortable, lots of luxurious options. Fun to drive. Cons: Brakes need replacing often. Poor gas mileage. Excessive cockpit noise at high speeds. The Bottom Line: Recommended for those who like a big car, lots of comfort and amenities. Can have occasional mechanical problems (particularly brakes), but a joy to drive.
Well, my Dodge Intrepid is no longer alive, but that's due to an accident, not the car. While I had it, I loved it. Huge, with plenty of leg room, front and back. This was important for someone like me (I'm 6'2"). I had the ES model, which came with ...

Pros: Huge, Roomy insides and trunk Cons: Weird windows and blind spot. The Bottom Line: If you have a couple of more kids than the average American family. This is the car for you.
My husband and I owned a 1994 Dodge Intrepid. We had nearly 200,000 miles on it and decided we should sell it before it died on us. We didn't have hardly any problems with it at all. At this time, the newer s had come out and we kept salivating ov ...

Pros: everything you'd want in a car Cons: rather large but with fuel economy
I set out to buy a new Buick Regal. So to make sure that it was the car I wanted, I checked out a few others.. the Pontiac Grand Prix, the Oldsmobile Alereo, the Volkswagon Jetta, and the Chevrolet Malibu. I had not even considered the Dodge Intrepid. I...

Pros: Sporty looking and fun to drive Cons: it's a Dodge, Need I say more? The Bottom Line: My mind wants to say I never recommend Dodge products, but my experience says Go for it, it seems to be a great car, and at an affordable price too.
I must first admit that I am in no way ~ shape ~ or form a person who likes Dodges... NOWAY!!! I've seen far to much and know a little bit about Dodges to ever be persuaded to want to own one.
But I will say this, I have spent a day driving...

Pros: Great size, power, and sound system Cons: Many problems (1st model year redesign 1998), poor resale The Bottom Line: Beware of the first model year, and make sure to get the Infinity Sound System
We took delivery of our Intrepid ES on April 20, 1998, and we were initially very very happy with it. It has the Infinity Sound System, and every available option except a sunroof.
Let's face it: the car is a great highway driver. It...

Pros: Great car for the price. Cons: Alarm system/window/horn problems (fixed long ago). The Bottom Line: Good, roomy car. Had a couple of headaches. Repairs cost less than one or two monthly car payments for the average car in 2005.
UPDATE (05/11/2006): Just spent $2,030 on the car. Part of the cost was regular maintenance for oil change, tire rotation and a couple of burned out lamps for taillights. But the rest was for replacing all the belts which had started to dry and crack (I ...

Pros: Superficial things: Style, Stereo, Power. Cons: Most important thing: Quality. The Bottom Line: Daimler Chrysler needs to scrap the Intrepid/Concord twins and start over. This is a very poor quality platform. Avoid!
I’ve read many reviews about how nice this car rides, how the stereo sounds, how much power it has, and how pretty it is. These glowing reviews have been about low mileage examples. I’ve had the misfortune of owning one long enough for my impressions of...

Pros: Roomy, Quiet, Takes an accident good Cons: Maintenance nightmare!! Could use more cupholders The Bottom Line: I would not recommend this vehicle as it takes a lot of time for repairs, falls apart at 60,000 miles and is a maintenance nightmare.
Below you will find my original review of this car. Well, it is now 3 years and 55,000 miles later and this is my changed review and rating on this vehicle. Please pay close attention to the reasons I have changed this rating as you will have to make...

Pros: Everything.. Cons: None that I have found yet...owned it over a year now.
The reason I bought this vehicle was it seemed different from all the look-a-likes they have out now. Some friends owned one and they kept recommending it. When we went to look at vehicles, hated them all, but drove the Intrepid and fell in love with...

Pros: Beautiful car, sporty, large interior and comfy seats, handles well Cons: Pulls out of gear with no key. The Bottom Line: I will never own another Dodge product do to the poor Customer Service I received and the defective product that nearly killed me and my children.
I loved my 1998 Dodge Intrepid until 5/4/01. That was a day I will never forget! My 7 year old son got in the car about 1 minute before I did. For some reason he decided to pull the gear shift. There was NO KEY in the car so if should NOT have came...
