Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Good on gas. Great ride, very comfortable and small
Cons: Back seat is too small
The Bottom Line: Its is gas efficient and being that gas never seems to stay down tis would be a good buy for someone who is willing to pay for the work,

About a year ago I purchased my 98 Mystique for $500 from my cousin. She had been told numerous times that this car is no good and she should just buy a new one and so she did, and thats how I got "Mysti". This car did have quite a few major problems ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Dependable, great acceleration, good brakes, gas efficient.
Cons: Electric system goes out quickly.
The Bottom Line: If you don't require a hecka lot of a car other than it stays running with next to nothing work, then you'll find much satisication in this car.

The body, or at least mine, is in fabulous condition. This car has been in my family for 6years. When my car broke down, I had to drive it for 4months, and the body was quite the best part. Has an original mystique paint job and no dents. Cute little ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Styling Reliability Front Comfort Trunk Space Running Costs
Cons: Rear Seat Room Headlight lens fog 4 cyl models SLOW Factory Stereo
The Bottom Line: Wonderful car to drive. Comfrotable, quiet, smooth, stylish, economical, roomy and great handling make the Mystique a wonderful car to drive. I would buy this over a Civic or other more popular vehicles.

Never being a fan of newer domestic vehicles,I figured the Mystique was going to be a dull, lifeless and unenjoyable car to drive. Was I ever wrong. My only reason for buying the Mystique was that my previous car has blown it's engine and I couldn't ... read more

After trying to decide between all the models and makes and searching for a bargain I found this 1998 Mercury at the local dealer for $3,300 with 61,000 on it, which is not bad for a used car. After thinking about it for about few hours, I decided to ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 20 Recommended: No

Pros: Comfortable, fun to drive
Cons: Frequent recalls, other mechanical problems
The Bottom Line: Because of the problems I have had, I would not recommend this car to anyone. It is comfortable with good features, but is simply too unreliable to recommend.

I purchased my 1998 Mercury Mystique LS in 1998, and it has been a big hassle! I bought it because of reviews I'd read and because it was a somewhat of a luxury car for a reasonable price. First the positive... I've been very ... read more

Pros: Ease of handling, styling
Cons: Number of recalls

Let's be honest: I'm crazy about my Mercurys. When I was 17, my first car was a 1978 Monarch: used, beat up, leaking every conceivable fluid, and wonderful. When I graduated college, it was a 1988 Topaz: cute, easy to drive, and the perfect little ... read more
