Pros: Reliability, engine, gearbox, 4WD system, towing capacity, safety (for a compact truck), Off roading Cons: Unsafe brakes, poor tarmac handling, gearing, ponderous maneuverability, uncomfortable, noisy, inferior quality to cars
The Bottom Line: The finest and most reliable truck money can buy. It was good enough for the Taliban's mountain missions, but it may not be good for you!
I have driven and had a 1998 Toyota Tacoma V6 4x4 5speed manual from new in the family since 1998 for all its 44,000 miles. It has been driven in the rain and shine, has been called upon to do a few moderately heavy work projects, snow transit and even a ...

Pros: dependable; good on snowy roads; common sense interior Cons: mediocre acceleration with 4-cyl engine; hubs difficult to lock
I'm currently driving my third Toyota truck. That probably says it all.
The first was a 1986. The second was a 1992. This one's a 1998. I traded in the first after 150,000 miles, and the second after 250,000 miles.
That's why I buy...

Pros: looks cute Cons: gutless, mileage not as good as expected, even the extended cab is way too small The Bottom Line: Not a pick-up for families, long commutes or frequent four-wheel driving. Good for a single person or couple for camping trips and other recreational activities.
I have always loved Toyota products. Both their stylish looks and their dependability have kept me coming back to them over the years. I've owned a Celica, 4Runner and now this Tacoma pick-up. I must say this truck has disappointed me.
I...

Pros: Dependable, good gas mileage, looks great! Cons: Extended cab is too small for an adult to sit comfortably. The Bottom Line: The 1998 Toyota Tacoma extended cab is a very reliable truck. I highly recommend it for its great value and durability!
I am so happy with my '98 Toyota Tacoma! As this is my first pick-up, I don't really have anything to compare it to except other cars and my husband's Jeep Cherokee (which is a piece of junk!).
I have had my Tacoma for five years now and...

Pros: extremely durable and RELIABLE Cons: slow and poor handling The Bottom Line: I recommend the 1998 Toyota Tacoma for people who want a truck that for economical reasons and not performance. At 156,000 miles and problem free(plus i drive like a maniac).
I love and hate my 1998 Toyota Tacoma short bed 4 cyl. Its extremely slow and I usually have to step on the gas almost full to get it to accelerate up a hill. After putting 30,000 miles on it all Ive had to get was the front tires aligned(40.00$), put ...
