Pros: Power, style, standard, very comfortable, red, looks great with 5% tint on back windows Cons: rust, front end parts, head rests, rear seat room The Bottom Line: Overall great little car for the $, a few problems with quailty but that was expected, nothing a little $ can't fix
I bought this car three years ago, it is my first car and is still sitting in my driveway. I have put a fair amount of work into the car. New gas tank, brake and gas lines, replaced the front wheel bearings twice, new control arm bushings and tie rod ...

Pros: ????????????? Cons: brakes, engine, dash, and the list goes on The Bottom Line: Stay away from this vehicle at all costs. Buy foreign you will thank yourself later.
I bought a 1999 cavalier, my very first vehicle. I had decided to buy a brand new car to avoid the problems of a used one. I had originally decided to buy a Honda but ultimately decided on the cavalier because of the price difference. This proved to be...

Pros: Power (2.4L), price, styling, reliability Cons: Handling, craftsmanship The Bottom Line: The cavalier is a good car, but is worth the upgrade to the 2.4 L engine due to the problems inherent with the 2.2 L.
I have driven both the standard 2.2 L Cavaliers and the 2.4 L Z24/Z22 Cavaliers. The engine and power train of the 2.2 L is weak and it made some terrible sounds after only 400 km of highway driving. However, this is supposed to be "normal" for this...

Pros: cute, sporty,Good gas mileage Cons: dents very easily The Bottom Line: Buy it it is one of the better cars that I have ever owned.
My Cavalier has treated me well. I get 35 miles to a gallon, or better on the highway. The interior cleans up well and stays new looking. Fairly easy to work on, as the engine compartment is fairly large. Parts are cheap, as there are a million of them...

Pros: sporty look, quiet yet powerful engine Cons: uncomfortable seat belt
I am leasing a 1999 Cavalier after recently trading in a 1996 Prizm, and I must say that the Cavalier is a much sportier car and definitely more fun to drive. I have had more compliments on the look of the car than any other car I've ever owned. And it...

Pros: Affordable, American Cons: Slow start, cannot make turns well The Bottom Line: If you are looking for a good, dependable, car that will get you where you need to go without costing you an arm and leg then this is it.
I moved to LA and, well, I got a car. So what did I look for? Something affordable with good gas mileage that wouldn't cost alot to fix and that would get the job done. I decided to forget about status and luxury in a town that thrives on it and just...

Pros: Great Car and Great Service Cons: None!
The Chevrolet Cavalier is one of the most affordable cars on the road. I feel the Cavalier is the best car for younger people. The price is extremely reasonable, mine was priced at $15,500 new (with some options). The car comes with standard ABS which is...

Pros: It's so cute! Cons: They don't put a V-6 in them anymore.
When I first saw my car on the lot, I immediately fell in love. I have liked the way Cavaliers have looked since about '95. My baby Z-24 is the Cayenne color, which wasn't as common then as it is now. The dealer had both the '99 and '00 on his lot,...

Pros: Very Affordable. And Great Looking. Cons: Rattling in Air conditioner. The Bottom Line: I would definitely recommend this car. It is a fine piece of machinery.
I have just purchased a used 99 Chevy Cavalier and I love it. It is a sporty red 4 door. It looks great and its cheap enough for a single mother like me to afford. It is still under factory warranty and I have had no real major problems. It has been...

Pros: Fast Car, Many Standard Features. Cons: Not the Highest Quality Built Car I've Owned
I have to preface this article by saying that I am biased toward GM products because my Father works for GM and I enjoy the discount. If this were not the case, I would probably be swayed towards some other manufacturers.
That being said, I...

Pros: Can park in small places, good transmission. Cons: everything else about it
My biggest problem with my 99 chevy cavalier is that all the little things break all the time! We have had to replace the motors on the power windows and the upholstery has not held up well at all. The gas mileage has been horrible. It is a tiny car and really is a true chevy! I have a lot of frustrations with how loud it is and I really don't find it a very smooth ride. The seats are hard and there just isn't much space to move. Its a small car with little padding so you hear everything. The acceleration is slow. Another big problem I have with the cavalier is the horrible crash test rating it has. It is not a safe car to be in if you get into an accident. The design of the hood is horrible for accidents because it slides very nicely under other vehicles causing enormous damage even in a fender bender. Hence why the crash test rating for the front did not even receive one star for head and neck injuries. The one perk about the cavalier is that the transmission is pretty good.

Pros: mileage, low maintenance, sporty. Cons: none
In June of 1999, I bought a new 1999 2 door Cavalier, automatic transmission, manual locks/windows. No perks. It's been a great car. Almost 200,000 miles on it, and still getting 28 miles/gallon...even with golf clubs in the trunk.
Ride is comfortable, not luxury...but i didn't pay for a luxury ride either. Interior has held up beautifully, except for a crack in the console near the windshield likely from sun damage. Gray cloth seats and floor mats still look great.
Great, reliable car, especially for the price.
Really, no complaints.

Pros: Dependable, affordable, sporty Cons: It's not a Lexus (haha)
I bought the 1999 Chevy Cavalier brand new and I have had no problems with it! As a female with no car smarts, I love a car that requires little more than regular oil changes and annual inspections. I had to replace the brakes at 6 years of age, and at 7 years was advised to replace the original battery and tires. Other than that, my car is dependable and just what I was looking for (in my price range).

Pros: good gas mileage Cons: no tachometer, 106mph governor
I recently purchased a '99 cavalier and have had no major complaints about it so far, other than the lack of a tachometer. My car is a 2 door base model with a CD player and 5 speed manual. The car itself is roomy in the front and in the back has enough space to comfortably accommodate 2 adults or 3 children. The trunk is cavernous especially with the fold down back seat. I can't however recommend this car for someone who wants to go fast, the governor cuts the engine at 106mph, which is nowhere near redline in fourth gear. I recommend this car for anyone wanting to save money on gas, or for anyone who doesn't care about having a car that can go over 106mph.
