Pros: Power, style, standard, very comfortable, red, looks great with 5% tint on back windows Cons: rust, front end parts, head rests, rear seat room The Bottom Line: Overall great little car for the $, a few problems with quailty but that was expected, nothing a little $ can't fix
I bought this car three years ago, it is my first car and is still sitting in my driveway. I have put a fair amount of work into the car. New gas tank, brake and gas lines, replaced the front wheel bearings twice, new control arm bushings and tie rod ... read more

Pros: Cheap price Cons: Cheap parts, poor quality, craftmanship is horrible and warranty is sketchy. The Bottom Line: If you just want a cheap car, find another one. This will turn into an expensive car before long.
I bought my cavalier in 1999. It was brand new with only 56 miles on it. I got the factory warranty, along with an extended warranty. After only having the car 6 months, the gauges quit working properly. It was mostly the mileage gauge that quit ... read more

Pros: sporty look
reliable
nice acceleration
no major problems encountered so far
good gas mileage
visibility Cons: not much space for backseat riders
factory CD player won't played burned CDs
The Bottom Line: If I had to do it again, I'd go with the Cavalier again. No major problems, reliable, nice ride.
Just to clarify, I drive a two-door Z24 (which has a double overhead cam, and I don't know if the non-Z24 does). That feature, from what I know, helps with the "get-up-and-go" factor. I think it has great acceleration for not being an super sporty car. I ... read more

Pros: It has lived up to my expectations and then some! Cons: Could there be anything bad to say? The Bottom Line: If I had it to do again, I would buy this car. It has been trouble-free!
My title is true...my 1999 Chevy Cavalier survived a some serious weather and is still going! I bought the car new because I was anticipating a lot of driving and needed something that would be easy on gas. The Cavalier met my needs in the fuel ... read more

Pros: RELIABLE, stylish, easily maneuverable, sports car handling, small turning radius, starts on VERY COLD days... Cons: LOW Safety Ratings, my tape deck didn't work well at all, battery failed once... The Bottom Line: I WOULD recommend this car, but with a small warning about the low side crash rating. I think this car deserves more attention by the makers, to improve safety ratings.
My father bought me a used 1999 Chevy Cavalier in 2002. In the entire time I've had the car, it's been 3-4yrs now, I've had ONLY two problems with it. 1. The tape deck is flawed, it plays only on one side of the car (I know it's the tape deck and not the ... read more

Pros: low price, decent gas mileage, plenty of accessories, reasonable parts, folding backseat Cons: low horsepower, annoying seat belts, no tachometer, ugly pinstripes, off-color bumpers The Bottom Line: Overall, this is a pretty decent car for the price and is recommended for everyday travel to work. Not a family car.
This car has been pretty decent so far. (A much better experience than with my 1990 Nissan Maxima.) ... read more

Pros: cute, affordable, it's a chevy, it's gotta be good Cons: small, gas mileage isn't the best, looks sportier than it is The Bottom Line: If you can afford it, get a Z24, just so it performs the way it looks, but it's a good car that, if taken care of, will last many years.
I've had this car for a year now, and though I miss the security of my 1992 Oldsmobile, I'm not any longer embarressed when people see me in my car! Mine is a 2-door, 5 speed red cavalier. Unfortunately, the person that bought it first was more ... read more

My Cavalier has treated me well. I get 35 miles to a gallon, or better on the highway. The interior cleans up well and stays new looking. Fairly easy to work on, as the engine compartment is fairly large. Parts are cheap, as there are a million of them ... read more

Pros: Power (2.4L), price, styling, reliability Cons: Handling, craftsmanship The Bottom Line: The cavalier is a good car, but is worth the upgrade to the 2.4 L engine due to the problems inherent with the 2.2 L.
I have driven both the standard 2.2 L Cavaliers and the 2.4 L Z24/Z22 Cavaliers. The engine and power train of the 2.2 L is weak and it made some terrible sounds after only 400 km of highway driving. However, this is supposed to be "normal" for this ... read more

Pros: It was only a lease and I get to unload it. Cons: Cracked head gasket, clunking steering wheel, whistling AC vents, constant creeking. The Bottom Line: The Cavalier is a great investment....if you're looking for a way to waste your hard earned money.

Pros: Easy-folding automatic top, surprisingly good acceleration, great value. Cons: Killer wide-swinging doors, seats could be firmer, no locking glovebox. The Bottom Line: Fun abounds in this affordable convertible. Just put the top down and you'll soon forget its minor design flaws. It's a shame GM discontinued the convertible model.
