Pros: good ride, peppy Cons: possible quality problems
When you hit the front door of the car rental joint, you never quite know what you'll be driving when you leave. This time, my "mid-size" car turned out to be a '99 Chevy Malibu, the first chance I've had to drive one of these little guys....

Pros: Reliability, comfort, price, ride and handling. Cons: Minor quirks, automatic transmission only, no manual available. The Bottom Line: Find a low mileage, V6 model. Make sure the problems I listed above were corrected.
The 1997-2003 Chevrolet Malibu was the replacement for the aged, but reliable Chevrolet Corsica, and came in two forms; base and up-level LS. The base model came standard with a 2.4 liter DOHC (dual over-head cam) 4 cylinder motor that pumped out 150 ...

Pros: Quiet, good acceleration, nothing has gone wrong yet Cons: The "you drive a geezer's car" jokes, rear-end magnet, nothing should go wrong with it

Pros: Sturdy, reliable workhorse. Cons: Paint work is suspect.
We went shopping for a medium to low price replacement for our Chevrolet Cavalier Convertible which hadn't quite worked out for us, not quite being sturdy enough for the work that we put our cars through. My wife liked the look of this vehicle, which...

Pros: Lots of clean, simple interior space! Cons: No traction control. The Bottom Line: Highly recommended. After three years, 60,000 miles, and about $400 in repairs, we're still very pleased. Would buy it again.
I purchased my new 1999 Chevrolet Malibu LS after a long evaluation period of other cars. The competition, for me, included the Pontiac Grand Am, Oldsmobile Alero, Honda Civic, and Volkswagen Jetta. After test driving all those cars, it was clear the...

Pros: The looks, the ride, the acceleration capability! Cons: None so far! The Bottom Line: I'd buy another one in a heartbeat! Great car, great value, and a trusted manufacturer.
UPDATE: I've owned this car for over a year now, going on a year and a half. So far I have had no repairs to make other than regular maintenance. The interior has held up to 2 teenagers and a 3 1/2 year old... all stains easily came off! Gas mileage...

Pros: Comfortable ride, decent power, roomy, huge trunk, decent mileage Cons: Steering could use a little work The Bottom Line: I liked this car enough that when it was totaled, I went out and got another.
In the Fall of 1998 I bought a new 1999 Chevy Malibu. It turned out to be one of my favorite cars. I used it and abused it and it served me well.
My job required me to do quite a bit of driving and it was a pleasure in the Malibu. In the...

Pros: Spunky little 4 cylinder, good lookin ride Cons: Gas mileage was a little disappointing, I'm not big on the daytime running lights.
I bought my 99 Malibu about a month ago. I was replacing my Mustang I had driven for about 2 years. Needless to say I was a little worried about going from a sports car to a passenger car, but it was about time for a new ride (the wife was...

Pros: Price, Room, Quietness Cons: Steering a little too twitchy.
My local dealer had a "Bait and Switch" type of ad for this car, and I would not let them switch. I got it brand new for $13,400...Try doing that with your Camry.
It has lots of headroom, which is important for a tall guy like me....
