Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Reliable, great towing capacity, big bed
Cons: Gas milage, uncomfortable seats.
The Bottom Line: This is a great workhorse truck. Honestly, if life hadn't taken other turns we've have loved it. In the end I sold it to my brother.

Since ra62 was so helpful in critiquing my review of my Saturn I thought I would have a go at reviewing my husbandís truck which I need to drive on more occasions than I really like. A couple of years ago we had decided to run away and join the Ren ... read more

1999 Ford F250 Quality Problems

by
Jan 19, 2004 (A Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 20 Recommended: No

Pros: Nice looking, has done a lot of work for me, pulls a heavy load easily.
Cons: Big things break, small things break.
The Bottom Line: Maybe mine was an aberration, the other reviews seem good, but I have had lots of big and little service issues. My next truck will never again be a Ford

I bought this truck new from the Ford dealer. It is nice looking but I have had many service issues. The head gaskets had to be redone twice with the truck under 70,000 miles, the first time under warranty which didn't fix the problem and the second ... read more

by
Nov 28, 2003 - Updated Oct 13, 2012 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Smooth muscular look with power to match, reliable, and Ford tough.
Cons: Stock tires are awful and take away from the capability of this truck. Seat room.
The Bottom Line: This truck is perfect for those who want something heavier-duty than a half-ton, but don't need the bulk of the 3/4 ton or one ton trucks.

A year or so ago, my good ol' dad bought an Emerald Green 1999 F250 Supercab XLT 4x4 with 99k miles to replace his totaled 1996 F150 4x4 (I also have or will have a review on that). What surprised me is that this F250 does not look like the Super Duty we ... read more

Pros: Practical, reliable, and fun to drive
Cons: Difficult to park, brake problems
The Bottom Line: This is an ok vehicle. I can't strongly recommend it but I also can't say don't buy it.

I bought my truck new in 1999. It now has 70k miles on it. Through that time, I've mostly had minor problems. The lower back support on the driver's seat had to be replaced. The ignition coil went out and had to be replaced. And, the transmission went ... read more

Buyer Beware of Used 1999 F150 with Triton V8

by
Jan 16, 2003 (A Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 30 Recommended: No

Pros: Appearance, Interior Finish
Cons: Noisy cabin due to poor seals on doors. Head Gasket Defect in Triton V8s
The Bottom Line: Stay away from used models with the Triton V8. Some engines have a manufacturing defect that requires expensive repairs and Ford doesn't take responsibility for the problem.

This review is directed to potential buyers of a used 1999 F150 or 1999 Expedition with either of the Triton V8s. These vehicles generally have a good reputation but consumers should be aware of a manufacturing defect that requires potentially expensive ... read more

This is my mother's baby, and she lets everyone in the family know that it's her truck. Her white 1999 F-150 XL has hauled my brothers to BMX events everywhere and back, and even took us on a long road trip to Iowa. We didn't get the 4x4 model, instead ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 10 Recommended: No

Pros: Great Styling, lots of power
Cons: Poor Quality, Mechanical Issues
The Bottom Line: Ford makes a good looking, comfortable truck but doesn't follow through with honesty/good service. Experienced the same at all dealerships.

Previously, I owned a 97 4x4 Offroad F150...loved it dearly. Then I thought I'd update myself by getting a 99 of the same type/options but in a black. It was a 1999 F150 XLT Off-Road, Standard Cab, Step Side, 4.8 ltr w/towing package. ... read more

99 Ford F250 Super Duty

by
Mar 28, 2002 (A Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 10 Recommended: No

Pros: Great pulling power, work horse - Diesel
Cons: Clutch has gone out three times in 75,000 miles
The Bottom Line: I do not recommend this vehicle. I have heard that the automatic is more reliable. If you purchase the diesel with an automatic it might be a worthwhile investment.

This pickup has had more problems than any vehicle I have ever owned. The first clutch went out at 5,000 miles. The clutch was then replaced at 45,000 miles and again at 65,000 miles. When the clutch went out at 65,000 miles the transmission also had ... read more

Pros: V10 power, Aggressive styling, Spacious cabin, Good ride
Cons: Insane gas mileage, V10 could use even more power
The Bottom Line: This is an excellent truck, If the price and operating costs were not so high it would have received 5 stars. .

Until 1998, the Dodge Ram was the only full size V10 powered heavy-duty truck. Ford has since joined the V10 bandwagon and added a 6.8-liter V10 to compliment their ultra-heavyweight F-250. While not nearly as bold in appearance as the 1999 ... read more

Pros: Big truck with plenty of luxury items.
Cons: Unreliable, no customer support.
The Bottom Line: This vehicle is obviously poorly designed, poorly manufactured, and poorly serviced. Stay away.

The 1999 Ford F-150 is a truck that Ford should have never produced. In general, I have owned Fords since I started driving years ago, and have never had a single problem. That is, until I encountered this truck. I took the truck to the ... read more

The Bottom Line: With acceleration, looks to die for, and a decent price, this (super) Truck is recommended for enthusiasts only, meaning, everyone who loves to drive!

Hot rod trucks are not a new form of radical transportation by any means, however when it comes the influx of current speed racer trucks coming to market, Ford has one of the best ones available. Ford added an intercooled supercharger to its already ... read more

Cons: A/C and the 5.4 = high gas bill
The Bottom Line: If you want a truck that rocks, this is the one for you. I needed more room and I got much more than that with this truck. IT ROCKS!!!!

I have had my F-150 XLT for a year and a half and have had no problem with it. There are now 27,000 miles on her and she runs as good as new. The amount of room in the truck is good for my family. There is enough room to place two car seats without a ... read more

Well, I've had my Ford F-150 for about a year now, and so far it hasn't given me any problems. I've been mostly a Chevy person for most of my life, however, when I started looking at pickups last year, I noticed that with the Ford, you get ... read more
