Pros: Great Styling, lots of power Cons: Poor Quality, Mechanical Issues The Bottom Line: Ford makes a good looking, comfortable truck but doesn't follow through with honesty/good service. Experienced the same at all dealerships.
Previously, I owned a 97 4x4 Offroad F150...loved it dearly. Then I thought I'd update myself by getting a 99 of the same type/options but in a black. It was a 1999 F150 XLT Off-Road, Standard Cab, Step Side, 4.8 ltr w/towing package.

Pros: Great pulling power, work horse - Diesel Cons: Clutch has gone out three times in 75,000 miles The Bottom Line: I do not recommend this vehicle. I have heard that the automatic is more reliable. If you purchase the diesel with an automatic it might be a worthwhile investment.
This pickup has had more problems than any vehicle I have ever owned. The first clutch went out at 5,000 miles. The clutch was then replaced at 45,000 miles and again at 65,000 miles. When the clutch went out at 65,000 miles the transmission also had ... read more

Pros: Big truck with plenty of luxury items. Cons: Unreliable, no customer support. The Bottom Line: This vehicle is obviously poorly designed, poorly manufactured, and poorly serviced. Stay away.
The 1999 Ford F-150 is a truck that Ford should have never produced. In general, I have owned Fords since I started driving years ago, and have never had a single problem. That is, until I encountered this truck.
I took the truck to the ... read more

Pros: Good cargo space Cons: Pretty much everything else
Recently I was given a 1999 Ford 4x4 truck as a company truck. This was quite a surprise because all the others the company gave me were Chevy's. I thought that they finally found something that would help me will I was out in the field.

This is truly the biggest pos in the world! I got about 17 miles a gallon highway driving in the most uncomfortable seats ever! With one pro and many cons, this is the worst vehicle that I have ever driven.

We bought this truck because we are poor. And we couldn't afround even an old chevy.
Any ways the truck we bought was a '86 ford f-250 no 4X4 and it only came with a six cylider, stright at that. Now the only thing that I like about the truck ... read more

Pros: Nice looking, has done a lot of work for me, pulls a heavy load easily. Cons: Big things break, small things break. The Bottom Line: Maybe mine was an aberration, the other reviews seem good, but I have had lots of big and little service issues. My next truck will never again be a Ford
I bought this truck new from the Ford dealer. It is nice looking but I have had many service issues. The head gaskets had to be redone twice with the truck under 70,000 miles, the first time under warranty which didn't fix the problem and the second ... read more

Pros: GREAT LOOKING, FEELS SOLID Cons: UNRELIABLE QUALITY
We were fed up with the cost of repairing our old camper van,
so we set out to lease a truck. The '99 F-150 series appealed to
us with a solid build, reasonable cost, and great looks. We
got our new truck off the lot and within the first ... read more

Pros: Practical, reliable, and fun to drive Cons: Difficult to park, brake problems The Bottom Line: This is an ok vehicle. I can't strongly recommend it but I also can't say don't buy it.
I bought my truck new in 1999. It now has 70k miles on it. Through that time, I've mostly had minor problems. The lower back support on the driver's seat had to be replaced. The ignition coil went out and had to be replaced. And, the transmission went ... read more

Head Gasket Defect in Triton V8s The Bottom Line: Stay away from used models with the Triton V8. Some engines have a manufacturing defect that requires expensive repairs and Ford doesn't take responsibility for the problem.
This review is directed to potential buyers of a used 1999 F150 or 1999 Expedition with either of the Triton V8s. These vehicles generally have a good reputation but consumers should be aware of a manufacturing defect that requires potentially expensive ... read more

My dad has had 2. A 1999 & a 2000. The 1999 one was a long wheel base with a Triton v10. It had no power. Most 350 chevy's have more. I even like Fords better but it had no power. The truck itself was nice. Well as nice as it gets since it was a ... read more

Pros: Handles good and very reliable Cons: Too light
I have recently purchased a 1999 Ford F-150 and thought I would share my opinion on it. This is a very reliable vehicle, however, the 4.2L V-6 engine makes it a little too light for any real work. If you are going to purchase a F-150, the Triton V-8 is ... read more

Pros: V10 power, Aggressive styling, Spacious cabin, Good ride Cons: Insane gas mileage, V10 could use even more power The Bottom Line: This is an excellent truck, If the price and operating costs were not so high it would have received 5 stars. .
Until 1998, the Dodge Ram was the only full size V10 powered heavy-duty truck. Ford has since joined the V10 bandwagon and added a 6.8-liter V10 to compliment their ultra-heavyweight F-250. While not nearly as bold in appearance as the 1999 ... read more
