Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Interior fit and finish isn't what it used to be.
Cons: Take it or leave it design, The radio/hvac cluster, Transmission.
The Bottom Line: Some will like it, some won't. The Taurus still provides basic comforts it always has, In a less attractive package.

Surely by now, most of us in the general American public are familiar with the Ford Taurus. Since the 1980’s, the Taurus has been carrying families and all their effects around the country in somewhat decent style and comfort. Most people who ...

Reasonable family car, but consider going Japanese

Sep 16 '06 - Updated Nov 03 '06

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 3.0 Recommended: No

Pros: Excellent engine, roomy interior, lots of creature comforts.
Cons: Questionable transmission, buggy electronics, not as good as the Japanese competition.
The Bottom Line: I would recommend buying a Camry or Accord instead. The Taurus isn't horrible, but there's definitely better out there.

My wife and I bought a '99 Taurus SE in 2000. At the time, it had about 25,000 miles on it, and was in good condition. We have had it since that time, and overall, it has been an OK car. First off, I want to say this right up front: Contrary to some ...

Love my Taurus

Dec 13 '99

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: more room, 3.9 financing, easy fit for car seat, good price, good amenities, doesn't feel like it will tip over
Cons: split-fold seat doesn't work with car seat in center, doesn't handle like the Grand Am or Mustang, cannot open rear door down flat

We bought our Taurus during the Memorial day sale at our local Ford dealer. We were expecting our first child and felt we needed more cargo room than our current sedan (a 1994 Grand Am) allowed. We also have two dogs that are like our children, so...

Every weekday, I am a passenger in a 1999 Ford Taurus and I feel like I'm in a limosine being chauffered all around town. I feel this way because this is one of the most comfortable and smoothest cars I've ever been in.

My boss owns a...

Pros: Comfortable For Long Trips, Plenty of Power
Cons: Low ceiling and quirky cup holders.
The Bottom Line: I love my Taurus and would recomend it to everyone. It has a great safety reputation.

WALK AROUND
On the exterior the vehicle looks very classy, with the round headlights and the pointed nose of the car. The rear end on the other hand looks very strange, the trunk slopes down and rounds out. And the rear window is round, I...

Pros: Style, Roominess, Comfortable seats
Cons: Unreliable, Bad brakes, Constantly in shop
The Bottom Line: Don't buy Ford cars unless your a gambler at heart and willing to take the risk.

I will never buy another Ford car or let any of my friends make the same mistake. However, I must say that Ford trucks are great and I would definitely buy another one of those. See my review of our Ford Rangers(yes, we have owned more than one). In ...

Pros: Handling, FWD, Price
Cons: Maintenance, Room
The Bottom Line: If your looking for a cheap somewhat fun 4 people hauler for a low price look no further than this model Taurus (if you can stand the styling)

The Ford Taurus a Symbol of...... a Symbol of.... I have no immediate clue. But I do know that companies use the cars like the latte maker in the break room. It's a symbol of fleet prosperity to a point. You see it all over the place; Pepsi Cola Car, ...

Pros: Looks good in a junk yard!
Cons: Rusted break lines.
The Bottom Line: If you own one of these have the rear break lines checked my a qualified mechanic TODAY!

I am amazed by this car. They apparently decided that it did not need coated break lines in the rear, nor any sort of safety valve so that if the uncoated lines in the rear do rust through, which they do, you might still have breaks. One would think that ...

The Bottom Line: The 1999 Ford Taurus is a reliable and comfortable car. Compared to other family sedans, it offers more options at a lower price. Excellent choice for a family car.

The 1999 Ford Taurus is the first new car I have ever purchased and I couldn’t be happier with it. I bought the car in January of 1999 following a major car accident which left me feeling like I needed a large, safe automobile. My choice of the Taurus...

Pros: Nice Price - dependable, roomy, quiet, smooth,
Cons: Its not a minivan

We purchased a 1999 Taurus from Oakley-Keesee Ford in April 1999. We bought the Taurus mainly because we wanted a reliable, affordable family car. We were replacing a 1990 Mitsubishi Galant with 140,000+ miles, which never had been reliable, even when...
