Pros: Nice Body Style, Comfortable, Plenty of Power Cons: Transmission Problems, Transmission shifting, Sliding Doors, Road Noise, The Bottom Line: I would have to say that due to problems that the vehicle has had, I am disappointed given Honda's reputation.
We bought our 1999 Honda Odyssey 2 years ago with approximately 41,000 miles on it from a private seller. The van was in overall great shape and was well taken care of as we received all of the dealer maintenance records. First, the transmission ... read more

Pros: Features; ride; Fold-down rear seat Cons: Transmission, transmission, transmission The Bottom Line: Stay away from this year model. You're better off with an '03 or newer.
Okay, it IS a Honda, but not by Honda's standards. We bought ours used in 2004 with 115,000 miles on it. I've owned 4 Accords and not had to do much more to any of them than routine maintenance. After all, that's what Honda's name is all ... read more

My wife and I were one of the many who put their names on a waiting list for a new Odyssey EX, having only read about the redesigned van. We did eventually get an opportunity to see one at an auto detailers shop. It was getting prepped for the new owner. ... read more

Pros: Stylish, roomy, dependable, powerful Cons: Sliding doors The Bottom Line: This is an excellent vehicle for hauling the kids -- and your belongings -- anywhere you need to go. Highly recommended.
Borrowing from the theme of the one-time hit song "You're Still the One," after all these years the Honda Odyssey is still the minivan for me. 1999 was the year Honda redesigned this van, making it roomier, more stylish and more functional. At the time, ... read more

Pros: Engine is powerful. Cons: Power doors, spartan, idiot lights, tinny stereo, thin metal, Weak tires, poor warranty. The Bottom Line: Of the 7 Minivans we have owned, this is the worst.
My wife and I had owned 5 Mini Vans over a 9 year period. We decided on the 1999 Honda Odyssey for a change from Chrysler products. The reviews on the Odyssey were very positive. We only owned it for 2 weeks before we started to have problems, power ... read more

Pros: BEAUTIFUL vehicle. Very smooth ride, excellent acceleration, very roomy and comfy. Cons: Gas guzzler. Transmission is a little iffy. Automatic sliding doors are kinda scary. The Bottom Line: Good for large families, with extra money to spend on gas. If they were available to rent, I'd rent one for large trips, since I no longer own one.
I traded my 1998 CRV in September 2003, for a used gray, 1999 Odyssey, EX. It came with a vcr and monitor, which was fun. I ended up trading it back in for full value though, in January 2004 for a few different reasons. One being, it was expensive. I ... read more

Pros: Overall, excellent van! Cons: Mostly minor complaints. The Bottom Line: Overall, great minivan. There's a reason why so many folks want these - worth it! The positives [especially the ride, handling, & convenience] are way above the competition.
Well, have had this creature for about 8 months now. And, it is by far the best van could have hoped for. After test driving others, along with having driven my folk's Dodge Grand Caravan on occasion, settled on this used version.

Pros: Good handling. Items on dash well-placed. dumb place for 6 CD changer Cons: Problematic A/C. Door Latches replaced often. The Bottom Line: Don't buy. This van spends way too much time at the dealer. So much time that we opted to buy the Extended Warranty at 30K as a cost-saving measure.
After researching mini-vans we bought a brand new 1999 Odyssey in December 1998. Since then, I have begun a love hate relationship with it. Okay, why love?
First off, the ride was the smoothest out of any mini-van we tried. The Toyota Sienna was ... read more
