Pros: Reliable for 118,000 miles so far, good power and 4WD system, methuselah brakes. Cons: Spartan interior, slightly rough ride over bumps The Bottom Line: Since they don't make Rodeos new any more, they're a good, safe, reliable used SUV choice.
I bought my 1999 Rodeo in June of 1999 as a dealer demo with 5600 miles on the odometer. Over the following 7 years, I have found it to be reliable, durable, and have had a satisfying overall ownership experience. There are 118,000 miles on the ... read more

Pros: Good price, looks, and size Cons: Not a well engineered vehicle The Bottom Line: It's convenient for an SUV, but it's not German or even good Japanese engineering!
If you're looking for a reasonably priced SUV that has good looks, the Rodeo is it. If you're looking to buy the last SUV you'll ever need, sorry.
I got a great deal, but my Rodeo is not my friend. It looks good and handles well for an SUV, ... read more

Pros: Powerful, quiet V6; Excellent Off Road and Snow Driving; Rugged Good Looks Cons: Wind Noise;Mediocre Braking; Slightly Less Cargo Space Compared to Explorer
Perhaps it's me, but I want in an SUV what an SUV is supposed to deliver. Offroad reliability. So it astounds me that the major complaint concerning the Isuzu Rodeo is its truck-like ride, this coming from Consumer Reports among others.

I purchased a 1999 Rodeo LX in May 0f 99. It is our second one in 4 years. The previous one was involved in a low speed accident and the front end folded like a tin can and the air bag did not deploy. However we still purchased a new one in May, 99. ... read more

We presently own a 1999 Isuzu Rodeo which we purchased in August of 2000. We were on the hunt for an SUV because of our growing family. As far as price is concerned we found that the Rodeo was about middle of the road. We knew we weren't in the price ... read more

Pros: room, sound system, maint. free Cons: not much
I was "forced" to buy a 4 wheel drive vehicle with room, this was the first s.u.v. and the last I looked at. First of all I'm 6'-3" and usually uncomfortable in any car and most trucks. The Rodeo has plenty of head room and leg room. I am ... read more

Pros: Simple design (my fave in this class), well-built, low maintenance Cons: Just those scary roll-over stories you hear about any SUV
Why are so few car dealerships open on Sunday? If more of them were open one Sunday last September, I'd probably be writing about a different vehicle. My husband works 70+ hours over 6 days each week. Leaves little time for much of anything, let alone ... read more

Pros: Great to drive, and plenty of power Cons: Gas guzzler
The 1999 Rodeo is a winner. Except if you are looking for gas mileage. 17 MPG all around ain't great with $1.60+ per gallon. But...that's the only real drawback.
It handles a lot like a car, and is very stable on the road. Though it's a bit subject ... read more
