Pros: Engine, straight-line acceleration, reliability, quality Cons: Not up to par with other semi-luxury cars. The Bottom Line: Not a bad car, but not any better then other cars in its class.
My mother purchased a new Maxima GXE in January 1999. While my Mom is adamant about not letting other people drive her car, I have managed to drive it several times over the past few years on both the highway and local roads. While the Maxima has been ...

Pros: Engine performance, interior design, build quality, brakes and iron-like reliability Cons: Slightly rubbery steering feel, suspension, accepts only premium gas The Bottom Line: Something for everybody, performance, room and reliablity.
I bought a 1999 Maxima GLE in 2002 right around this time of year (March). Since that time, I have put almost 30,000 kms on the car, driven it across Western Canada and back twice in the summers, and used it to ferry our two children to school and my ...

The first new car my husband and I purchased in the last 10 years was the 1999 Nissan Maxima. We wanted a reliable car that would not be in the shop every other week like some of the other cars we have had over the years. We own a 1986 Jaguar, need I...

On August 13, 2007 a Dodge Ram failed to yield to the right of way and pulled out in front of me driving my beloved 2001 Chevy Prizm. My car was totaled. I spent a few weeks in a rental car(See my 2007 Malibu review) while I was looking for another car. ...

Pros: Smooth engine that loves to rev and never gives you a problem. Excellent value too! Cons: Exterior styling is either love it or hate it, resale not so good. The Bottom Line: If you are shopping around for a family sedan, the Maxima beats EVERYTHING in its price range, hands down. Read my lengthy review!
Nissan puts out a fine set of automobiles. Unfortunately, Honda and Toyota have brainwashed Americans into thinking that the Accord and Camry are the best mid-size family sedan. If you are in the market for a mid-size Japanese family sedan, I bet you...

I recently had the chance to drive a 1999 Nissan Maxima for a few days. I needed a rental car because my own car was in the shop. I almost rented something less expensive but I'm glad I didn't because I really enjoyed the Maxima.
Let me begin...

Pros: Nice looking car - smooth ride Cons: Bad gas mileage, uncomfortable seats.
While this car looks sharp, and rides nicely, there are still a few
things wrong that I think need to be corrected.
First the positive: I have the 1999 SE model loaded with sunroof, power
everything, side impact bags, leather...

Pros: Engine, Interior, Everything works, Value Cons: Front seats could be more comfortable The Bottom Line: A great alternative to an entry level BMW, Mercedes-Benz, or other car in the same class that cost much more. This is a great, reliable, well priced car!
My dad had a 1990 Pontiac 6000LE. There was a spring poking into my dad's butt so he had to put a pillow on the seat, the car was rusting, there was loads of paint that got peeled off, and the heater didn't work very well. So needless to say, he decided ...

I'm 46 years old and am now driving my tenth new car, a 1999 Maxima. I've always had a mid-size or sports car and I love my Maxima best of all. It's a very tight handling automobile with a powerful engine that gets you where you need to go as fast as you...

Pros: Engine, Handling, Comfort, Styling, and Reliability. Fun to drive and easy to accessorize/modify. Cons: none The Bottom Line: The Maxima is a smart decision for anyone looking for a nice ride. It's a great family car yet it's referred to as a 4-door sports car. Deservedly so.
The Nissan Maxima represents the most balanced combination of comfort, performance, styling, and reliability I have ever encountered in an automobile under $20,000. It's as simple as that.
Accord, Camry? Step Aside.
Why is...
