Author's Product Rating: 10 Recommended: No

Pros: Looks Great Going Down the Road and it is Fun to Drive.
Cons: Mine is falling apart.
The Bottom Line: I will never own another GM product again! GM has made no effort to correct these problems.

I bought my '99 Firebird Convertible new in December '99 and right away I had a few problems. While still under warranty my rear trunk release motor burnt out and my Monsoon stereo quit working. Things got worse from there. At 42,000 mi ... read more

Pros: power, looks, reliability, ASR, 40 cu. ft cargo room!
Cons: rough road cornering, handling in snow.
The Bottom Line: Best car for the money. Looks great, goes fast, holds up well...no contest.

Overview Well, nobody likes waiting at these long lights, but you're stuck there anyway so you start looking around to occupy yourself. Then you feel something. What is it...a subwoofer? No, much too steady. A few seconds pass and you ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Out-of-my-way aggressive exterior, wrath-of-God power, performance value for the buck.
Cons: Traditionally cheap interior look, near-luge seating position, noisy ride
The Bottom Line: This car is fun, fast, and sharp. A fountain-of-youth on wheels.

WOW! That's all you can say the first time you experience the thrill of firing up the 320-horse monster that has just been sitting there, sneering at you, almost challenging you to try and tame it. As you slide down into the admittedly uncomfortable ... read more

Since the late 1960s, both Ford and General Motors have staged the pony car wars. While Ford usually had the edge when it came to raw power, by 1993 GM's F-body ruled the streets when it came to sheer power. In 1998 the Pontiac Firebird Formula ... read more

The Firebird Trans AM is a good car. I own a 95. I bought it a couple months ago and have been very happy with it. It has the LT1 engine out of the Corvette and pulls about 275 Horse Power. It's plenty fast and looks even faster. The interior is ... read more

Modern Muscle

by
Jun 23, 2001 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Explosive power; flamboyant looks; underrated.
Cons: Average Pontiac craftsmanship
The Bottom Line: Although the Firebird will be terminated by GM by 2002, it offers a very high level of both value and performance. This car screams of potent power. Highly recommended.

The 1999 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am competently doubles as my daily commuter car, but that is definitely not why I bought it. Indeed, this outrageous automobile is, first and foremost, a muscle car. It is a driver's car, meant to be driven fast and hard. ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Beautiful car, runs great, cheap on insurance
Cons: Interior gets very warm in the summer, very small trunk
The Bottom Line: If you don't like the Camaro or the Mustang, you can't go wrong with a beautiful Firebird.

When I was out shopping for a vehicle, I never thought of the Pontiac Firebird -- until I saw the one I own today. My Firebird is painted a very beautiful (and very rare) Medium Blue. Since it has a Buick V6 at 200 horsepower, it is very fast in ... read more

One Fine Muscle Car!

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Super acceleration and braking,Sexy good looks.
Cons: A no-go in the snow,no cargo room or back seat to speak of. Insurance is expensive!

The Pontiac Firebird Trans Am is certainly an atypical vehicle. In certain respects it's a throwback to the muscle car era of the 60's. With 305 Horsepower and the drive wheels being in the rear it performs like the Hot Rod that your Dad probably drove ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Power and cornering
Cons: Rear seat room and trunk space

The muscle car is still alive. It lives in the Chevrolet Camaro and the Pontiac Firebird. These two cars, GM's F-bodies, still remind me of the days when I owned Pontiac GTOs in the late '60s and early '70s. They are just plain fun to drive, if you like ... read more
