Pros: Great MPG, Cheap to fix, Safe, Reliable, Great AC Cons: Cheap Plastics, Rattles in the dash, uncomfortable back seat. Hot interior if left in sun The Bottom Line: Buy it if you have a short commute or can live with harmless rattles. Great for the money!
I bought my Saturn with 40,000 miles almost five years ago. My 1988 Honda Accord had some problems and I wanted something that was cheap to insure, safe and a rice burner. This car was an A+ in all three categories. The check engine light went on at ... read more

I definately love my lil saturn LS2! Amazing! There are so many great things about it I cant even explain. I bought it used with 125,000 miles on it (my mechanic okayed it of course... same mechanic for over 17 years and still yet to have a lemon!). I ... read more

Pros: American made, low cost, safe, dependable, great buying experience. Cons: Road noise, door seals. The Bottom Line: Good, solid American made car. If your looking for value *and* quality, and don't need a lot of frills. the SL-2 is a good car to get.
I wanted to buy an American car for the first time back in 1999. After a bunch of research, I decided on a Saturn. Some friends owned Saturns and spoke highly of them. I also was aware of the safety record and dependability Saturns were noted for. So I ... read more

Pros: economic, safe, dent resistant, big trunk,Dependable Cons: The interior is a little noisy and although it seats five it's a tight fit. The Bottom Line: Excellent buy. My next vehicle will also be a Saturn!
I own a 1999 Saturn SL and have had nothing but wonderful things to say about this little car. My car has 111458 miles on it and still runs like it did when I first bought it. I have a family of four and it suits us just fine as a practical family ... read more

Pros: Gas mileage, sturdy, affordable Cons: No longer manufactured The Bottom Line: Saturn, please bring back this line of cars!! I'll recommend the Saturn SL series to anyone who'll listen.
You saw the commercials years ago where someone was getting cheered by Saturn employees for buying her first new car. Well, I had that experience in February 1999. I bought my first new car and it was a Saturn SL1 5-speed. I had been researching ... read more

Pros: transmission, gas mileage, trunk space, fold down seats, nice options- power package. Cons: cheap looking interior comapred to Hondas, Toyotas, etc. Short sun visor. The Bottom Line: it depends on your needs. The price was great.
I set out looking for an SL2 specifically because it more power. I too liked the design and fell for those advertisements (sap!) The 1999-2000 Saturns were in my price range for a used car. I ended up buying one from a private party, blackberry and in ... read more

Pros: Handles great (even on ice), smart looking, great gas mileage Cons: Weird security system and bad Check Engine light The Bottom Line: I would buy this car again in a heartbeat.

Pros: very dependable, can't say that enough Cons: nothing The Bottom Line: I recommend anyone who wants to buy a dependable and comfortable car to buy a Saturn.

Pros: Fun, sporty, good-handling, peppy, long-life, good resell Cons: turn-radius(argg, parking!), small interior, cheap 'feel' The Bottom Line: I recommend this car for a single male or female who likes to drive for fun but also needs to commute.
I'd have to say that the single best thing about this car is that it's fun to drive around crazy in it. Using the 5-Speed manual transmission you can output a lot of power from the DOHC engine in the first couple of gears and beat cars in the 250hp ... read more

Pros: Safe, well engineered, excellent fuel economy, adequate performance Cons: Engine and road noise, poor performance with A/C on, mediocre audio The Bottom Line: A great all-around car for commuters and occasional haulers. It's built for practicality, not performance. Under proper care, it will age well.
I will start by saying that the Saturn SL2 is an economy car -- it's not the sportiest car by a long shot, but it's built very well and will last you under proper maintenance. The 1.9 L engine won't win many drag races, but it will give you ample ... read more

Pros: This car seems well built. Good fuel economy. Cons: n/a The Bottom Line: Overall I have driven the car all over Southern california and it is great. Since purchasing this car i have driven over 3,000 miles and have enjoyed the car.
The car had a bad engine mount when I bought it. This caused it to jerk at part throttle in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gears. My mechanic replaced it with a redesigned OEM mount, and the jerking has subsided. I think that the transmission mounting needs ... read more

Pros: Good solid car, trunk roomy enough, good ride, peppy Cons: Small backseat The Bottom Line: Saturns are just plain good overall cars. You can't go wrong with any Saturn you buy.
I traded in my '99 SL1 for my new '02 SL1. Overall, I loved my '99. It had almost 100,000 km on it. I only traded it in because of low interest rates and a good trade-in value. I ended up paying only $4 more a month for my '02 with a few more features. ... read more

Pros: Nice looking, pretty reliable, good HWY gas mileage. Cons: Little things break a lot, service dept. has difficulty diagnosing problems, no cruise control. The Bottom Line: Bottom line, I don't know! Seems to run okay now, but I still agonize whether I should have bought the extended warranty! I don't trust it.
My experience with Saturn is quite varied. I first bought a used 97' SL in 1999 and for three years it ran fine. It turned out to be a big fat Lemon and I had no choice but to trade it in for my current 99' SL1. I've only had a problem with the ... read more

Pros: Great Bargain, Excellent Reliability, Easy to Maintain Cons: Cheap interior, oil consumption issues as car ages The Bottom Line: Outstanding car for reliability and maintenance. Poor styling inside and out.
There's no question that we're a Saturn family. In my immediate family alone we own four of them: a 95 SL2, a 97 SC2, a 99 SL1, and a 00 SL2. We didn't get them for their looks though (well... maybe the SC2); we were simply looking for reliable cars ... read more

Pros: Economical, acceleration, fuel consumption, amazing service, large trunk, no-rust body panels, 2 airbags, no-haggle pricing. Cons: Not many: Small (particularly rear seats), mirror mounted low in windshield, has a few quirks The Bottom Line: Great car for a first time buyer or someone who needs a second car to do local driving. Get great mileage, and is decent for longer trips.
Why the Saturn SL-2?
