Pros: Good power, good gas milage very reliable
Cons: ABS motor, M.A.F sensor if used w/K&N filter

I bought a 1 year used 4 cylinder, 4WD, regular cab black 1999 Toyota Tacoma with 30,000 miles on it back in 2000 when I was just out of college & starting my first job. Before I made my decision I diligently read reviews & consulted the consumer ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Reliable, effective 4WD system, decent stereo system, OK comfort.
Cons: soft suspension, poor gas mileage, thin body metal
The Bottom Line: I was at first a bit skeptical of the USA assembled Tacomas. But this truck is slowly proving itself.

I bought my '99 Tacoma Xtracab V6 4X4 new in '99. Standard trans, SR5 package. This was my second Toyota truck (my first I still have; it is a 1984 4x2 -- 237,000 miles, one clutch, same engine and trans). Gripes for '99 Tacoma are: - Poor gas ... read more

Pros: Durability, Looks, Paint, Re-sale Value
Cons: Gas Mileage, Seats, Repair Costs
The Bottom Line: I no longer recommend it, becuase it spent almost 3 grand on in three weeks and still never ran,and toyotas are high in price in general.

I traded a 1999 2wd Super Cab Ranger with 14K for this Tacoma X-tra Cab P-up with 4wd. It has 120K. It also was my neighbors. First Impression: I have stared over the Yew bushes scince Don (my neighbor) bought this truck. I liked it when he first go ... read more

Pros: Amazing little truck
Cons: not a V6, wimpy lug bolts, no clock
The Bottom Line: If you need a reliable, go anywhere, tough looking, workhorse, buy one used and enjoy the best compact truck available.

I purchased my '99 Tacoma, used, in May of 2001. It's outfitted with the 2.7 liter 4-cylinder, is 4 wheel drive, and has the TRD off-road package. Let me say this, I am a farm boy who craves power. All my vehicles before this have been full ... read more

Toyota Trucks Rock

Feb 23, 2002 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Powerful, sturdy, attractive appearance
Cons: Pricey but worth it
The Bottom Line: The best pickup truck out there. Attractive and sporty, reliable and strong. Though I do recommend an extended cab.

Without a doubt, Toyota stands out among all the rest. I had BAD experiences with my old Chevy S10, so this was such a refreshing change. My Tacoma looked just like the black one pictured, with the big tires making it look (and it is) very ... read more

We have had our 1999 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 ext. cab with all the dings and whistles for 30 months now. I can say that it has held up very well. It came with the bed cover and it's fully loaded. We have 45,000 miles on it now and getting new tires. This truck ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Stylish, well known brand, comfortable interior, variety of options
Cons: price (but when isn't it with new vehicles)
The Bottom Line: I have owned two Toyota Tacomas, they are rugged, reliable, fuel efficient, well designed, and a joy to drive.

Easy to use, Owner's manual is easy to understand, nice looking truck body, available in both standard and automatic (a must for me because although I can drive a standard, I would rather not). I own the two wheel drive extended cab. In the past three ... read more

Pros: durable, dependable
Cons: stingy cupholders

I bought my first Toyota 4WD pickup in 1988. Why? well, 'cause Honda doesn't make trucks! I still have that silver 6-cylinder, by the way -- with only 167,000 miles on it, I figure it's good for another 12 years! Over the past twelve years, I've had ... read more
