by kev50028
Apr 16, 2006 (A Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Exhaust sound, external beauty, interior design, handling, overall looks
Cons: Sound system and "shuddering" when going over bumps.
The Bottom Line: Great Car, and well worth the money

I love my 2000 Z3 2.3. It is the perfect first car, small zippy, handles great, and it feels like a sports car to drive . The 170 HP 2.5 liter engine in my Z3 isn't the most powerful engine, but it gets the car moving, and quick too. The car's light ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Head-turning sexy looks, solid engineering, zippy handling, top-notch safety features, affordable, reliable
Cons: Follows road imperfections, some cowl shake, seats could be more supportive.
The Bottom Line: The sexy BMW Z3 is the best roadster value on the road. Exceptional engineering and safety features put it in a class by itself.

All of my life I have wanted a roadster. The Z3 fulfills all of my wish-list items for the perfect top-down two-seater. It draws design cues from classic roadsters including the Jaguar XKE and AC Cobra. Underneath the sexy, curvaceous exterior, this ... read more

Oct 6, 2004 (A Somewhat Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 10 Recommended: No

Pros: Cute and Fun To Drive
Cons: Is in the Shop repeatedly for various manufacturing and design issues.
The Bottom Line: I would not recommend this car unless all you care about is cute and fun to drive. You MUST have another vehicle to use.

I've had my BMW Z3 since 2000 and it has been in the shop over 1/4 of the time for one issue or another. Perhaps most significantly, the seat belts have stopped working four times; a safety hazard to say the least. Granted this car is cute and fun to ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Fast, solid, feel your youth. Excellent for the price
Cons: Tiny trunk, not much other storage space available. Watch that front end!
The Bottom Line: Fun to drive. Get the heated seats.

I drove this car off the lot when the lease of my '97 Z3 came to an end. I could have opted to keep the '97, but I wanted the improvements that came along since then, mainly the safety roll bars behind the seats, the foam lining in the convertible top, ... read more

Apr 11, 2002 (A Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: classic roadster proportions, open air, solid handling, value priced.
Cons: general practicality, becoming too common, average fuel economy.
The Bottom Line: Yes, the money would have been better utilized in my 401K but you can't put a price tag of the driving the Oregon coast in this car at sunset.

The word is BMW will cease production of the Z3 in 2002 even as they are expanding the Spartanburg, SC plant. I am preparing to sell my Z3 as we are expecting our first child this summer. It will be a sad day as the car has far exceeded my ... read more

Pros: Fast! Very fun to drive, Good ergonomics, Figure hugging seats.

The Bottom Line: Besides the styling, which is controversial, this car is very fun, plush & a good value.

For many individuals who want the refined and meaty performance associated with the M Roadster, but the practicality of a 3-door coupe, the BMW M Coupe is perfect. It may not be as sporty looking as the M Roadster, but thanks to its much stiffer ... read more

Pros: Handling, gas mileage, focus of conversations when stopped
Cons: Cheap radio, soft clutch, hyperactive traction control, plastic rear window, no cupholder
The Bottom Line: Pure fun - a keeper and a conversation piece. If performance is the objective, look at the 2.8.

My 2000 Z3 2.3 was my introduction to the world of owning one of Germany's finest. I wasn't looking for a fast car - at the time my other vehicle was a 1998 Camaro SS Convertible with over 300 HP. I simply wanted something small, dependable and fun to ... read more

So, is it a primary car? Well I've managed, but you probably wouldn't. It won't take a hard suitcase, it won't take more than a weekend's soft luggage for two, and if you're more than 6 foot tall you won't want to be stuck in the rain in traffic every ... read more

Pros: exclusive, fast, great handling
Cons: wicked expensive, funky navigation system and radio
