Pros: Terrific value, low ownership costs, everybody fixes Chevys Cons: Few amenities, uninspired three-speed transmission, The Bottom Line: It's bold to drive a little car these days. Be Bold. If you set your expectations reasonably, the Metro won't disappoint.
Introduction
Having driven this car for two months and 3,000 miles now, in winter and summer driving, I have concluded that I am very happy with my purchase. The Metro is cheap to drive, and not at cramped or wimpy as I thought it would ... read more

Pros: Excellent gas mileage. Cons: Expensive for what you get, Anemic 1.0 liter engine, Tiny Interior. The Bottom Line: This car is not recommended for anyone. There are much better cars out that get almost as good gas mileage, with less compromise.
The Chevy Metro/Suzuki Swift Came out in the 1980s as a 'super econobox', and surprisingly has survived all the way to the year '2001, surviving this long; despite the ridicule its owners get for owning a car in this class. The Geo had been ... read more

Pros: Good acceleration, no trouble on hills Cons: Lots of design flaws The Bottom Line: Though the engine quality may be good, I don't consider this a safe car to drive.
I am going to break my own rule and review a car I don't own. This is because I have been driving this car for the last three weeks, as a rental, while my "real" car gets repaired from the wreck I was in. There are enough problems with this car, I felt ... read more

Pros: Roomy, relatively inexpensive. Cons: sluggish, poor handling, ugly interior. The Bottom Line: I do not recommend the Chevy Metro. It is not all that well made, is vastly under-powered and steering is stiff.
My experience with the Chevy Metro is strictly as a rental car and I suppose that it is possible that I simply got a stripped down version, but I doubt it. The interior was grey and downright ugly. Another strike against the interior is the lack of cup ... read more

In summation:
- I like this car and am glad I bought it, although I probably would recommend someone go with a better equipped car like a Hyundai Excel or a better car maker like Toyota and the new Echo.

I purchased the Metro to make a 120 mile roundtrip drive to work, my requirements were air conditioning, a 5 speed transmission, and the 1.0 motor to maximize gas mileage.

Pros: Decent gas mileage. Excellent headroom. 22.3 cubic inches total storage space. Cons: It's an economy car, and it shows it. The Bottom Line: Only recommended to those who need a compact car and can't afford others like the Dodge Neon, Honda Civic, and other compacts.
I bought this vehicle because I needed a car to replace my dying 1988 Ford Taurus. The Taurus was looking like it was going to need ANOTHER transmission, so I quickly swapped it in back in April for a Chevy Metro. Ouch. When I bought the car I ... read more
