Pros: Style, reliability, power, safety, comfort. Cons: Rusty brake rotors, cheap plastic in interior, cramped head space. The Bottom Line: There are plenty of boring cars on the road. This isn't one of them.
It's nearly as big as a Buick LeSabre but has the sleek look of a NASCAR racer. Seats four in absolute comfort and turns heads while doing it. Retains a styling heritage of decades past while evoking a totally unique, totally modern sense of ... read more

Pros: Solid ride, fair acceleration and good handling for it's size Cons: not as much acceleration as one would hope for its size The Bottom Line: Great car- Chevy has a winner in the large Coupe market- take a road trip in this car!
Review of 2000 Chevy Monte Carlo Rental Car Adventures IV: Baby Got Back I dont think the era of the large performance coupe is dead- at least not for Chevy. Im combining three experiences for this review. The 2000 Monte Carlo is pretty ... read more

Pros: large ergonomic cabin. comfortable ride. decently quick for the time. shared camaro/grandprix. bulletproof V6. Cons: large slow thirsty coupe. body roll. anemic 4speed. faulty electric. overall bad fit and finish. The Bottom Line: One of the last large coupes (if you're into that). With modest power, the only draw is a comfortable cabin. This thirsty coupe doesn't make much sense today.
2k. The start of a new Monte Carlo. A lot of old fans thought the front wheel drive and V6 steered away from the classics. Whenever there's even a drop of rain, my friends and I have always taken the Monte over their Camaros or Firebirds. Everyone has ... read more

Pros: Nice looking car, good gas mileage. Cons: Reliability. The Bottom Line: Don't buy.
I had a 200 LS Monte Carlo for three years. In those three years it had been to the same dealer for maintenance 4 times for the same thing. The front end always felt loose and I could feel the road noise through the steering. The last time I needed ... read more

Pros: Classic exterior design, smooth ride Cons: A bit underpowered, would've been nice to have RWD The Bottom Line: Needs more power, as it's not the racing thoroughbred as advertised, but for a people-mover and daily driver, it's a great car.
I bought a 2000 Monte Carlo LS (torch red) back in early December of 1999, one of the first of the new body style. I was in need of a car (the '96 Cavalier I had been driving was destined to be passed down to my younger brother, when he cracked the ... read more

Pros: Sleek, stylish design; FAST; heated seats; good gas mileage; huge trunk; tilt wheel; traction control Cons: Difficult to get in back seat; Driver's window control had to be replaced The Bottom Line: I can't recommend this car highly enough. Its beauty, performance, and reliability won't disappoint you.
I really didn't want to get rid of my '91 Mercury Cougar, but it had nearly 200,000 miles on it and aesthetically, it left a lot to be desired. But it was such a fantastic and beautiful car. I needed to find something that was 1) equally as beautiful; 2) ... read more

Pros: Plenty of room for passengers of all size, comfy seats, cavernous trunk Cons: Car looks the same from either end, underpowered engine The Bottom Line: The same mid-large size car that GM has been manufacturing since 1982. A few new lumps & bumps in the sheet metal can't hide the truth!
Remember the Monte Carlo SS from the late 80's? It was an unapologetic muscle car with a big, loud V-8 and decidedly masculine lines. It provided an alternative to the Pontiac Firebird and the Camaro -- all the guts, but with a somewhat more businesslike ... read more

Pros: fast, comfy Cons: Looks like a mob car The Bottom Line: The bottom line is that you will embarrass yourself driving an ugly car such as this one. Leave this one to the mobsters and batman!
Chevy's new Monte Carlo looks like a mob car. If you have ever seen this car on the road, you must wonder what drives people to buy something of this quality! The back of the car sticks out like one of those old flatbed cars, and the lights are these ... read more
